I hope the UFC keeps the black and white beginning with the sound bites from main event and co-main event fighters. I know it's too long for TV and PPV but the intro video set to Baba O'Riley that you see when you go to a live event is ****.

I also hope the UFC shows stats after a fight like Strikeforce.

I said earlier I was suprised ESPN had no interest in UFC and now we get Dana's response:

“ESPN always hated us and now they hate us more now that we are on FOX. They canceled my (interview) next week for UFC Rio. (Expletive) ESPN,” he tweeted, before adding, “(Jim Rome) is the only good thing about ESPN.”

I guess Josh Gross's chance of getting a media pass went from %.001 to %.00000001, lol.

Don't know why people are worried. You know MMA is going big when they get a deal with FOX.

Getting back to this, I love/hate Dana for doing this. I love how he's so unfiltered but I would love to see ESPN really get behind the UFC. Being that ESPN seems or is very family oriented now IDK how these comments could effect the history books.

Overeem/Mir wouldn't do the numbers Lesnar would but I think it could do better than Fedor or Kimbo's numbers on CBS.
That's what I was gonna say. A guy that has 35 wins with only 2 decisions, hasn't lost in 4 years and is nicknamed The Demolition Man shouldn't be hard to sell.

I think they should lead into the FOX show with the Baba O'Riley opening. It probably won't happen, but that would be a great way to expose all the people watching their first MMA show to some of the greatest moments.

The rumor on the street is that if Anderson beats Okami and doesn't suffer a serious injury, that they'll try and book Henderson vs Silva II on this card. If Hendo doesn't wanna go back to down to 185 (and I don't think he will), they will pull Chael Sonnen from his fight against Stann and make Silva vs Sonnen II for FOX, with Vitor Belfort replacing Chael at 136.

I somehow doubt Anderson is gonna escape without damage enough to turn around and fight that quickly. Plus I really doubt he'll be down for that anyway, it's not like he's a young pup anymore.

Okami is gonna grind him out. There's no way in hell I actually see that scenario playing out. But It'd be awesome no doubt.

                    I agree, but playing devil's advocate;

Outside of Sonnen, when's the last time Silva has been hurt?

True, but just looking at the style of Okami, and also the strength, I just don't think it's gonna be a bout where he's gonna get out of it cleanly. Not that I see him getting a medical suspension, but I just feel like it's gonna be a grind.

Factor in age, and also the fact that there are truly only a handful of "grind it out" guys in his division, I'm not surprised he has gotten these wins in the fashion he has.

Besides that I really don't think he would be OK with having a training camp right after his bout is over. But that's just my thoughts. Once again I think age might hold him back from the quick turn around.

Another thing I would be bothered by, is if it would be a title fight. That's kind of unfair to ask a champ to do.. defending his belt twice in the span of 3-4 months.

Silva/Sonnen 2 is actually genius for a Fox headliner. Silva/Sonnen 1 only did around 600k on PPV. The rematch would only do around 700-800 at best so its not a huge sacrifice by the UFC. Putting it on Fox puts your best talker and best fighter front and center. The only issue is they would have to gloss over the whole Steroids issue with Sonnen.

The only issue with this is timing. From everything I've heard this Fox show is only an hour and it will be two fights. If thats the case, how do you easily fit a 5 round title fight (5 rounds plus 5 one min breaks = 30 min) and a 3 rounder. Maybe Fox will allow them to overrun.

I know it doesnt happen now but it used to happen. Rampage won the belt from Chuck and fought Henderson three months later. Tito defended the belt twice in a little over 2 mos in 2000.

True, but the sport has changed/evolved drastically over the past decade and even more rapidly in the past 5 years. Defending your UFC title twice in three months is pretty rare in recent history, just off the top of my head.

IDK. If Anderson got a first round stoppage without taking any substantial damage [i.e. his bout with Vitor], then we'd have a convo. But we'll see what happens.

I'm pretty sure you could spend 10 or 15 rounds with Okami on top of you and still not take any real damage. Dude is pretty harmless.

IDK if I agree with all that.

He's shown pretty good improvement and evolution since coming over to the UFC. Especially with his overall strength.

Looking at his past fights he's definitely beat people up. More than a few and some of those names are no cans.
