Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
How could I forget that? I remember when they first started doing that and I couldn't figure out who they were talking about. I actually don't mind the term 'WWE Universe' as it does, in a way, unite wrestling fans, but I think it's silly that McMahon won't let the wrest ... er, entertainers, say the word fans during a promo.Currently Playing:

"WWE Universe" just makes all of the older/adult fans (like us) look and sound like nerds.Comment

Sting on almost working with Undertaker at WrestleMania 27:
"I wouldn't say it was utter nonsense, that's not true! It's a dream match that fans would want to see. It was close. I'm glad things turned out the way they did.
There are so many variables. Let's just say that I turned it down for the same reasons I always have. Something in me never trusted what would happen up there, based entirely on the track record with other WCW guys and everything that went on after Vince bought WCW.
I wont be watching but I'll be asking what happened between Undertaker and Triple H."
I don't get it. Guys that came over from WCW during and after the Monday Night Wars like Jericho, Eddie, Rey, Benoit, Booker, Big Show, Goldberg, and Hogan, got World title reigns. Flair was given one of the best send-offs ever. Arn Anderson, Finlay (till recently), Hugh Morris, Jamie Noble, and Malenko got jobs backstage. Chavo, Kidman, Helms, Regal, Waltman, and Palumbo had lengthy runs. DDP got injured, Nash stayed injured, Hall had his problems, Scott Steiner and KroniK flat out sucked, and Bagwell's mouth got him booted after one night. Oh well, enjoy wasting the rest of your career wrestling junkies and the irrelevant, Stinger.Comment

So basically what he's saying is he didn't want to lose the match. Oh well, his call I guess.Comment

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Yeah not understanding Stings stand on the WWE at all, sure the first few years he might have been right some what but when you look at it now no.
Benoit was a main event guy for awhile and regarded as one of the better actual wrestlers, Rey= 2 Titles and several other great matches/moments, Eddie was basically the heel version of HBK imo, etc. You could go on and on how the WCW guys did get their due and more, they were a very crucial part to making the WWE where it is today.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Speaking of WWE... and no, this isn't an April Fools joke.
WWE is now just that, WWE. They've decided to eliminate the name World Wrestling Entertainment.
So, much like KFC, they are now just an acronym.
This is not an April Fool's joke. WWE has followed the lead by KFC. There was a meeting yesterday where the subject was to no longer be called World Wrestling Entertainment, because of Vince's decree to eliminate the word wrestling from the product, and just be WWE. A couple of sources have said the meeting ended with that directive, one of which came from ESPN which got the word.http://flotn.blogspot.com

So, if we can't refer to in-ring product as "wrestling" what are we supposed to call it? I know McMahon has been pushing PR people to call matches (probably can't say that, either) "entertainments".
Why Vince continues to try and alienate the long-time fan base (that has made him and his employees a ton of money) is beyond me. I really don't get it.Currently Playing:

Not surprised by this, anybody remember the part in Beyond the mat where they're interviewing VKM and he says he is in the business to make movies or something along those lines? Thats the first thing I thought of when I read that.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Well I'm upset about this as well. I know it's just a name, but it's more of how Vince tries to control everything that goes on. Ignoring the fact that WWE is at it's core a wrestling company is ludicrous. But I guess it's been a long time coming since we've had 'superstars, divas, and the WWE Universe' instead of wrestlers and fans.Comment
