Couple random things: Was about the freak out about the gruelling match order only to find out the Clay/Tensai was cancelled (or I completely missed it or something). Miz winning the title... smh.. That ending of Del Rio vs. Swagger... smh.. (you're gonna pretend that hitting the barricade knocked you out only to jump back up into the armbreaker?) Sadly there was nobody to show the world. And most importantly, did HHH play in the sand before he came out?

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
They really dropped the ball on Ziggler last night. It was set up perfectly. The crowd would have gone nuts. Everything after Taker was just snoozville. The slurpfest at the end of the show was just overkill. One of them should have hit the other to have the crowd care. It was just too predictable.Last edited by kingkilla56; 04-08-2013, 09:05 AM.Comment

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
Best part of this WM to me from what I saw was Cena going for the people's elbow but then holding on to the rope. He sold all that well, really looked like Cena in his character's prime there for a bit.Last edited by Chrisksaint; 04-08-2013, 02:32 PM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

I think one thing that hurt this years WM was the other pay per views. And when I say that, Im talking about the gimmicks that are only reserved for their designated ppv.
Every single match was straight forward except the Lesnar/HHH match. So there weren't any "holy s***!!!" moments. So while the matches weren't terrible, they were just meh because they didnt have any awesome spots. That and the added spectacle of whatever stipulation there may have been is what I feel is missing.
EDIT: Oh. And literally NOTHING happening storyline wise.Comment

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
I have to say I'm surprised and not surprised at the same time at how things turned out last night, if that makes sense.
On one hand, I really can't believe with all of the different possibilities throughout the card, not one of them took an unexpected twist or turn. Hell, the biggest surprise of the night was probably The Shield winning so clean over Sheamus, Orton and Big Show.
And that match was the beginning of the missed opportunities with this WrestleMania. No Orton heel turn, no Ziggler cash in, no Rock or Cena turn, no HBK betrayal, no ending of The Streak, etc. Just one of those things happening would have made the show so much better and worthwhile.
Instead, everything just went by the book and felt like a regular PPV. And really, I can't say I'm all that surprised considering how this past Road to WrestleMania played out, how predictable the card looked on paper, and just the general direction (or lack thereof) things have been going the past while.
Among all the opportunities that were missed out on last night, I'm perfectly fine with The Streak not ending. It was obvious with how the feud between Punk and Taker played out the past few weeks that Punk wasn't pulling off the win considering he had the upper hand the entire time. The match itself was really good but for me personally it just didn't come close to matching both Triple H matches in having that feeling where you think Taker is actually going to lose. It was also lacking the spectacle of the hell in the cell match last year. I just don't get why, with how good that match was last year and how perfect an ending it would have been to his career, they had Taker return to extend the streak for another year.
Brock/Triple H was decent for what it was. My problem is I'm not really seeing what the point is of having Brock back. He's hardly going over anyone and I don't know where they plan on taking him after this. It's nice to see he's back in good shape though.
Rock/Cena was alright at best. The last 10 minutes or so seemed like a finisher/finisher-reversal fest with the same 2-3 moves sprinkled in (I did like the Cena fake-out on his People's Elbow though) but Cena winning had been obvious basically from the second he won the Rumble in January.
I also think it's time to finally put the Cena heel turn to bed, because this was the golden opportunity to do it. It's clear that until they find another golden child/money maker/face of the company/whatever that we're going to get the same tired **** from Cena. If last year was such a "terrible year" for him, I can just imagine what they're going to do now that they put the belt back on him and this year is supposed to be "his year".
The rest of the card was nothing special either.
Jericho/Faaaandaaaangoooo was kind of ruined by the botched finish.
Ziggler continues to be made to look like **** despite the fact he's one of the most talented guys on the roster.
I'm glad Kane/Bryan are still sticking together.
The Shield is still awesome but there needs to be something more to them at this point.
The WHC match I honestly didn't pay full attention to. Del Rio has been solid as a face so I'm fine with him continuing as champ.
Also, lol at the IC title being on the pre-show. So much for bringing prestige back to it.
I almost fooled myself into buying last night but thankfully I didn't. It would have felt like such a waste of money. Maybe I'm finally getting to the end of the road with being a wrestling fan. I guess it would be fitting since The Rock returning is what brought me back but things just aren't the same, much like The Rock just isn't the same any more.
I'm still going to get roped in to watching Raw at some point tonight in hopes that something interesting will happen, but even if something does happen, what are the chances things stay interesting? I can hardly think of the last time a good angle/storyline has been paid off properly.Last edited by BlueNGold; 04-08-2013, 12:25 PM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
There were reports that came out a couple weeks ago that the WWE did discuss turning him heel. I think you sort of saw those ideas start to play out with that one heel ish promo Cena did the night of the Q/A with the legends segment. Then followed by Big Johnny returning on Smackdown that week.
What happened after that I have no idea. They went the complete opposite direction. Cena won and they made it seem like Rock was passing the torch to Cena or something at the end. UGH.
Since when does The Rock shake hands and congratulate people anyway? Seriously I don't think I've ever seen that with him. The only time he shakes someones hand is if he's about to Rock Bottom them.Indianapolis Colts

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
I decided to finish watching the Undertaker 20-0 thing, since I only had 4 matches left. Anyways, the Tombstone at the end of WrestleMania 26 against HBK was one of, if not the most violent Tombstones I've ever seen. Taker himself jumped close to a foot off the mat.
It's within the first 3 minutes or so of this video.

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
C.M. Punk said he was staying in WWE to help change the system, but what (aside from his push) has really changed in WWE? Part-time stars were in the top 3 matches, including one match that features a pair of part-time wrestlers.
What happened with Ryback? He's lost like every PPV since he was forced into that main event slot due to Cena's elbow injury. Guy has zero momentum going and he was on the cusp of becoming a big star, imo.Currently Playing:

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
I don't get as worked up as most here, and I actually enjoyed most of the show last night even, but when things get bad I guess I keep watching because I know the talent and potential is there for it to be something great again at any time. They just have to make a few changes or even just pick a direction and stick to it. It's kinda hard though when there's a different head of creative every 3 months. Vince needs to put his ego aside and let Heyman, or someone else with a wrestling background, run creative. He can still keep final say, but he won't be picking crap because he won't be getting pitched much crap to choose.Comment

Re: WrestleMania 29 - (4/7/13)
I don't mind this given that he was facing Henry. Ryback is still a star and is still over with the crowd. I don't know if he can really be a bigger star than he is given that he can't talk on the mic at all(and not to make fun but it almost literally sounds like he can't lol).Indianapolis Colts
