According to Bruce Pritchard, take it with a grain of salt, Ted DiBiase or Jake Roberts weren't supposed to be the higher power. It was supposed to be Christopher Daniels but Vince saw him and nixed it because he thought he was too small for the role.

Yup, they were right to just go with Vince. I can't see Taker taking orders from the fallen angel.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Crazy how the MSG curtain call leads to Austin 3:16 being born instead of HHH winning, which gives us Austin vs McMahon and then the higher power angle which leads to HHH and Stephanie getting married in real life. Than no good son of a b**** HHH knew what he was doing all alongComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Just reading the past few pages. On the discussion for commentating, JR was my favorite announcer but there was no better duo than Brain and Gorilla. The chemistry that they had was insane at times with their wit and how they could just feed off of each other flawlessly.
(Paraphrasing from Summerslam 91)
Gorilla- "Stu and Helen Hart looking on, nervous at what they are seeing."
Brain- "You know why their nervous? They snuck in here!! They're not even supposed to be..."
Gorilla- "Will you be serious?!?!" Another comment like that and you're out of here!!"
I go back to the early 90's more for their commentary than the matches, and that is saying something. They could make two jobbers sound like a main event quality match with their commentating. It is just remarkable.Last edited by PeoplesChampGB; 02-27-2017, 11:11 PM.NFL- Green Bay Packers

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Heenan- "You have to remember Virgil once had the million dollar belt, of course he stole it but he still had it."
Monsoon- "Oh give me a break!"
Heenan- "Virgil entered at what, 23? I mean who knows how bags he's been through in the back."
Monsoon- "Will you stop!"
I'm a Monsoon/Heenan guy myself but Monsoon/Ventura is a very close 2nd for me.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I could do this all day lol. From WM8:
*HBK vs Tito*
Heenan: Santana punched Sherri?
Gorilla: what?
Heenan: well you said he punched him in his kisser.
Gorilla: it's early, don't start!
Heenan: It's Arriba McEntire! Wooooo!
Gorilla: It is not!
*talking about Piper's Golden Gloves*
Heenan: that's ametuer punk stuff
Gorilla: what?
Heenan: you don't get paid for it, do ya?
Gorilla: no ...
Heenan: It's amateur punk stuff
Gorilla: puhleeeez
Heenan: have you said hello to Tatanka
Gorilla: yes
Heenan: did he do it the right way?
Gorilla: uh...
Heenan: he didn't go hey-how-are-ya hey-how-are-ya
Gorilla: no, he doesn't do that!
Heenan: DiBiase and IRS should both be allowed in there
Gorilla: well if they make the tag ...
Heenan: no, either one of The Natural Disasters weighs more than both Money Inc, so they should both be allowed in there at once
Gorilla: what a warped mind you haveLast edited by dubcity; 02-28-2017, 02:16 AM.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I loved all of the combos of announcers from the 80s, even Vince and Jesse. From the episode of prime time wrestling before WM3
Vince: Jesse you had a pretty lackluster career
Jesse: Lackluster? They're pouring the cement to put me on the Hollywood walk of fame. I'm going to be between Liberace and someone else
Vince: You know, you just would be between Liberace and someone elseComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I think Heenan and Gorilla are probably my favorite. I love Heenan and anyone really.
He's hilarious. Watching the old Raws and he's flipping channels during the broadcasts. lol
I'm a little sad though. I'm up to the end of July 93, so Bobby is headed out in a few months. His exit is great though.

WWE Network Discussion Thread
Soooooo yeah, my fave duo is Ross and Lawler. I like Heenan/Gorilla, I go back and forth with them as two or three for me swapping with Vince and King.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Yeah, 1991-1993 was a strange time for WWF commentary. On the Bret/HBK DVD (haven't searched the Network for it) every match had a unique commentary team. Vince/Heenan, Monsoon/Schiavone, Monsoon/JR, Monsoon/JohnnyPolo, etc. Lots of cool combinations on those old Coliseum video releases.Comment
