Your point? He debuted in February, obviously he wasn't going to give him a title run going into Rock/Austin at Wrestlemania. They'd been building up to Austin getting his belt back and defeating McMahon's Corporation since he screwed him out of the belt back in September of the previous year. Austin/McMahon/Taker was the big program of the summer until they got to SummerSlam and were going to put the title on Triple H. So there wasn't exactly a point in time there to give him a run until Austin went down and they suddenly had a chance to do it. Plus they wanted the title off Triple H at that point to start the Triple H/Steph angle with Vince screwing him out of the title. Austin was hurt, Mick was hurt, Taker was hurt, they were saving Rock from winning the belt so he could win the Rumble so the logical spot was getting the belt to Big Show. Knowing Vince he was envisioning him being Andre with the title, but between him not getting over, reports are that he had a bad attitude at the time when he did get the belt and the aforementioned first Raw of 2000 and Triple H's mega push Show didn't keep the belt long.

Re-watching (again...) 1998, particularly the storylines around The Undertaker and I'm watching the ME for Raw 279, Taker/Kane vs Dwayne/Mankind/Shamrock.
The shade on WCW by JR in the middle of the match gets me everytime:

You said he’d just given Show a ton of money. My point was he’d been with the company 9 months by this time so it wasn’t “just” in my opinion.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Just got into 2000 at the first Raw of the year and dawg, it was just TOO easy to hate Triple H. As soon as he and Steph joined forces and he started trying to flex and always screw The Rock...that's when his bitchassness was on display, lol.
On another note, Top 3 Entrance Music during that time: Too Cool, Dudley Boyz and The Rock.
SN: I love how most of us here are starting around the same timeframe and pretty much on the same page. Makes it too enjoyable to talk about Wrestling from back then, especially when hearing about the side stories.#RespectTheCultureComment

I think one of the tiles where I was legit mad was maybe the first Raw of 03 or so. I remember HHH and HBK had a match for the title. HBK won the match but they had some kind of restart finish and HHH ended up winning and retaining.
It was a great match and of course I’m an HBK guy. I was so freakin pissed.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
So you just felt like being a jerk then? He'd "just" given him as in recently. As in not even a year had gone by. As in he was Vince's latest acquisition from the competition.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Took me about 10-11 months to watch all of 97 Raws, and then I just stopped after that. Not because of lack of interest or anything(though the Raws after Montreal Screwjob were kinda depressing to watch the treatment of the Hart Foundation), just seems like alot of dedication to watch all of them.
Gotta start watching 98 onwards eventually. I want to watch early RA as well, but just don't know if I'd ever have time to watch all Raws/SDs/PPVs from 98(99 for SD) until around 04 or so. Even if I somehow managed 1 a day, it'd take years to do.Comment

I didn’t really think I was being a jerk about it. I only responded because you asked me what my point was. Just tying to clarify it.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I have a lot of it in the background but I don’t move on. I’m too OCD about it.
I’ve paired my WWF with WCW and some of their stuff is brutal so it’s slowed down a little lately. I did just see the Bischoff turn which was cool.
The WCW stuff is mostly new to me because I never watched it back in the day.

I still skipped lots of stuff watching those 97 Raws. Don't know how I want to watch the rest though. Skip matches not involving the big stars and just watch all main segments or something similar to that.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Just getting to heel biker Taker, I forgot how awesome he was during this point. He just beat the brakes off poor Spike Dudley. Choke slammed that poor man from the ring over the top rope right down to the floor. Spike was nuts the bumps he took. That one had to hurt. He took one a few weeks prior to this where the Dudley's caught him running off the ropes and just launched him over the top rope and through a table set up outside.

Man, I really need to watch the real ECW.
Wildman Mero > Marvelous Mero
Has anyone realized how heels don't untie the turnbuckle anymore?

Classic heel tactic. Even though I never understood why that little *** piece of metal was supposed to be so powerful lol.
