One of things I appreciated about Benoit’s time in WWE was that he could reverse any move into the Crippler Crossface so smooth.

      WWE Network Discussion Thread

Man the WWF to WWE name change is as sad and annoying now as it was back then for me as I get to it on the Network here.

Also Vince is such a creep. Dude stayed booking himself feeling up/making out/making moves on/flat out “banging” all the divas.

So how long before Vince gets caught up for those acts from back then?

I’m honestly shocked it hasn’t happened yet. Feel like that shoe is going to drop sooner or later.

Random question. When did WWE start having PPV specific stages? Like all those iconic ones we remember in the past (backlash being most notable)? And on similar note, when did they start having actual video packages for ppv matches instead of just those narrations, usually done by Michael Cole in AE?

I still mark out like a kid during the whole segment of Undertaker agreeing to fight Kane.

The Brand Split was at its best around Survivor Series 2006. The way they made it a big deal when a Smackdown superstar was on Raw and vice versa was so great.

Also had some great heels like Edge, Orton, Booker, Kennedy, Umaga, Mark Henry and a few others.

                      Edge’s entrance was [emoji1474][emoji1474].

When did WWE fall off? 2009? Crazy that they'd be doing so well just right before.

They were already on a downward swing once Rock and Austin were done as full timers, but they got to a stable ground where they were good/solid for a bit there, especially when Heyman was booking Smackdown and had the Smackdown Six. I think the company gradually went back down once Eddie died and after the Benoit thing is when they just completely fell off the cliff as they were trying to overcorrect everything to avoid any further scrutiny from the outside media.

I’d say around this time as well.

2006-07 was probably the peak in the post-Attitude Era and 08 was cool but after that, you could start to see the decline happening.

I think WM23 is the peak before the huge dropoff. Not to say that that was a historically great show, but it was a huge deal. After that we started seeing Cena main eventing PPVs vs Khali, Umaga, etc. Then the Benoit thing happened and that more or less put an end to whatever edge or attitude was left in the product.
