I think Mankind and The Rock both looked like jabronis in those matches they had together.

Smh. I changed that **** any time I used in Wrestlemania 2000 or No Mercy.

        This one?

From watching 98, I think that was his "corporate attire" he started wearing once aligning with McMahon/Bearer/Kane, but just ended up keeping it afterwards.

Nah he still wore his old brown Mankind tights when he was with them. He didn’t start wearing those dingy *** sweatpants until some time in ‘99. I think after Triple nailed him in the knee with sledgehammer and he was out a few months. Think he came back wearing them.

Summer of 98 continues to heat up(pun intended)!

In a 24 hour span, some very notable moments
              Fully Loaded:
-Undertaker debuts his new theme song(changing up from his iconic graveyard one)
-Sable with her NSFW segment (How did King never get a heart attack during AE lol. His reaction to Sable with that paint!)

              Raw:
-The infamous "choppy choppy" line (I believe the actual attempt happens next episode?)
-Godfather with his first ever entrance featuring his special ladies
-While they wouldn't team until late 98, we see first Farrooq-Bradshaw interaction. It was weird seeing these two fight each other
-Stone Cold debuts his "smoking skull" title (absolutely nobody acknowledged this title change on TV....)
-First real beer celebration from Austin (tossed Undertaker a beer and Taker actually drank it too)
-Crowd having a "Raw after WM" feel to them. Someone tossed something in the ring and it hit Mr.McMahon and the entire arena started cheering. In the main event, someone threw a beach ball in the ring and Austin punted it out lol. Later, I think I saw 2 beach balls slowly making it's way near ringside, but never made it in the ring.

Man I remember hearing Vince was LIVID when Austin turned up on tv with that belt. I believe the story goes that Austin cut his chin on the Big Eagle title at the time, so after getting an idea from the Road Warriors that he should have his own belt to play up the “Stone Cold” gimmick of being against authority or whatever. So he went out and spent his own money to have the Smoking Skull title made and then used it on tv without Vince’s permission. Vince was said to be furious about replacing the title until they got flooded with positive fan reactions.

Wish Vince would have still been so against switching titles when they decided to scrap the Undisputed belt for Cena’s abomination.

Nothing will ever top that Smoking Skull Belt.

Maybe the original Hardcore Title belt.

It also shows how different the times are. Austin did that and what happened? Nothing, and it got embraced once fans loved it. If anyone today were to do anything even remotely off script, they'd be buried.

To be fair though, if the WWF wasn’t on the brink of going out of business and Austin wasn’t the biggest star in the history of the business next to Hogan at that time, he definitely would have gotten disciplined. Vince isn’t in any danger of losing his business now so they can bring the hammer down on guys for stupid **** now as opposed to then. Even then though if you weren’t a big enough star you get punished.

The single greatest thing Triple H has ever done in his career is be lackey/stupid enough to be apart of the curtain call being a virtual nobody compared to the three people he was in the ring with. Shawn was a massive star who was almost single handedly keeping the company afloat despite being a massive dickhead, so you ain’t punishing him for any of the numerous amount of bull**** he had going on back then. Triple H on the other hand was a nobody so no big deal dropping the hammer on him and thank god. Who knows how history would look had he won that ‘96 King of the Ring instead of Austin like he was scheduled to do before the curtain call.

Speak for yourself man, I’ve always loved Ivory. I even mentioned in the OT thread her getting in was the only reason I wasn’t tripping about Victoria not getting her due this year. She was a gem

                            Question...

Late-ish 1998 when HBK came back and did commentary, it sounds like he had an issue with the New Age Outlaws. (July 13, 1998)

I remember him taking shots at them, and I think got into a quick verbal back and forth with Road Dogg before a match (I think against Kane and Mankind for the tag titles to main event Raw). Sounded unscripted.

Does anyone know if he had beef with them (maybe because they were part of the new DX) or if he was just being a douche?

Man, Summer 98 - Summer 99 is still and probably will forever be my favorite time period in wrestling.

Something else I forgot to mention about Summer of 98...the whole Undertaker/Kane/McMahon stuff, lets just say if you drank each time someone said the word "cahoots", you'd be drinking way more than Stone Cold. They literally said stuff like "are you in cahoots with Kane?" and so many other "cahoots" lines every single week. They could've asked about collusion or an alliance or partnership, but no, they said CAHOOTS every single segment.

                                Looking at this:
                                https://www.fightful.com/russo-says-...didn-t-want-it

He probably didn't want them in DX.

And ya, summer 98 onwards(even as far back as post WM14) you could say was HUGE. Just watching this stuff and I see so much character development and storyline progression week by week, and I'm not even at the part where stables took over. In a single episode you could find more notable moments than WWE has today during RTWM altogether. Look at my post from last night and all that I posted happened in a 24 hour span.
