I'm guessing they don't own the Superstars of Wrestling trademark anymore.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
If I remember correctly (I'd have to actually look it up again), some guy bought the trademark to the phrase "Superstars of Wrestling" when it lapsed once, and he just hasn't been willing to play ball and work out a deal to let WWE use it in archived footage.
I don't think there's any interesting story behind it or anything.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Speaking of music license, how many ppvs in attitude era actually have the original ppv themes on the network? I'm at Unforgiven 99 and it's one of first ppvs I can remember with an actual stage set and ppv theme in the main event promo package. Unfortunately on the network they used stock music(didn't go with the video at all. Just sounded like one of those YouTube people who'd just take a video, dub over it with generic music and call it a custom promo package) so I had to go on YouTube to find this
One of things I've always liked about WWEs production were the ppv video packages.Last edited by Majingir; 01-15-2019, 12:59 AM.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Sounds like Patterson owned it even prior to the WWF show, and WWF used it until he sued them for infringing on his trademark. If I'm reading things right, that's when they renamed the show to just Superstars.
No idea what his dollar amount would be to allow using the name uncensored, but until then it's bad news for people who like unblurred classic WWF shows.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
You listen to Easy E’s show this week? He covered Souled Out 97 and talked a little about why they did it.
Basically they wanted to everything the opposite of what you’d expect. They ride to the building on garbage trucks. Had fat chicks in a beauty contest. Etc.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Haven't listened to the 83 Weeks episode yet, but, depending on who you ask, it seems like there are people who think it was an attempt to sabotage the NWO and take away it's specialness.
The decision to have it in Iowa seems odd, but the arenas were usually booked way in advance, and who knows how long in advance they had the idea of an NWO show.
Like most bad WCW ideas I'm sure it was the result of too many people involved in decision making roles, and at the same time Bischoff in quasi-control, but often deferring to people who had their own motives.Comment
