So I rewatched the 2016 Rumble earlier today and I completely forgot that Kevin Dunn gave us the gem of Roman Reigns' face during the entire reveal of AJ Styles' WWE debut instead of what should have been the obvious money shot of a wide shot that showed both the Titantron and the fans reactions as the video screen showed the "Phenomenal" in AJ's entrance video. Good work there Chompers.

Then they put out the "unseen" angles video...that still had way too much Roman face.

Yeah, I remember seeing that video later on, but like you said even that had too much of Roman’s face. They had the right shot and then just before “Phenomenal” pops up on the screen, it cuts back to Roman’s face while the word appears, the crowd erupts and THEN it cuts back to the shot after they’ve already missed the money moment. Just unreal to me how that one went down.

Out of curiosity, do you think they did it on purpose or do you think they just screwed up?

I think both. I think they thought Romans reaction would clue people at home that didn’t know who AJ was that this guy was a big deal. But they ****ed up the execution.

It's hard to say, but based on how they did Diesel's return in 2011 it seems like it's done on purpose by them. I guess the difference there is that once you hear Diesel's music you automatically know who that is, so you didn't necessarily need to see the video screen as part of the reveal, but I did appreciate the fan's video from the stands that captured the moment Diesel's music hit and the video hit the screen.

Even with that though, they got the shot from the hard camera so you could see some fan reactions when the music hit, you got the shot of Diesel coming out of the curtain and then you immediately got the wrestler's reactions in the ring. I think with AJ's, they could have gotten the shot of Roman's confused expression once the unfamiliar music started and then switched to the wide shot that captured the entrance video and the fans to show their confusion about what they were seeing until they erupted once they saw "Phenomenal" pop up on the screen. Then you get AJ coming through the curtain and then they could have gone back to Roman's reaction. They stuck with Reigns' face entirely too long and it seems like it was by design moreso than just messing up.

                  Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

Showing Reigns confused by the music was fine. Showing Reigns' reaction to Styles is fine too, in theory. In action it just came off badly because cutting to Reigns that second time takes away from us seeing the reveal ourselves.

Good ideas on their own, bad execution when put together.

When did WWF switch to more of comedy angles? 2001 is slowly turning into one of my favorite times because I'm legit Loling at every other segment.

Now Tajiri is on commentary with Cole and JR [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

According to WWE Network News WWF Superstars (Classic version) will debut on the Network on January 21st with the start date of April 1992. No firm idea how many episodes are said to be dropping but they've heard from a reliable source that it will be 30 episodes. (so to the end of '92)

WWE has also switched internet streaming service for the network as they had a deal with Disney Streaming Services (formerly BAMtech) and have now inked a deal with Endeavor. Apparently there will be improvements on UI and more options to come. Endeavor however, has not been without their issues. They were the same company that had huge issues with the live stream of the Connor McGregor/Floyd Mayweather fight.

There's legal stuff that's slowed it all down. The reason why they're starting at April '92 is because that's when Superstars of Wrestling was shortened to just Superstars. I believe they will go earlier as well but they want to go with the path of least resistance here.
