That opening number for the Slammy Awards was great. Better than sports award shows.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I was watching the BSS with McIntyre and some interesting points from it.
1. Austin mentions how nobody got told about a hard cam (they knew what it was and where it was, but their job was to just do their thing and the guys in the truck will pick the right camera). Interesting to compare to today where everyone needs to speak to a hard cam, but also, the guys in the truck seem to be slacking with making guys or spots look good. Edges return being an obvious one, and them catching the Fiend running over the barricade in the middle of a match, stuff like that needs to be cleaned up.
2. McIntyre vs Taker at WM26 was a plan. Obviously Taker vs HBK was great, but I really believe this was a big plan. During that HBK vs Taker build I really felt they were planning for HBK vs HHH to end his career, there were many signs. HHH would end up feuding with Sheamus in an underwhelming feud, so I wonder how it would've been if it was HHH vs HBK and McIntyre vs Taker.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Seeing Bayley on BSS should be good. First female guest too.
With it being rumble season, I'm gonna start watching some past rumbles. Might watch 2020 again just to remember a time in 2020 that was happier and filled with fans.
But what other non AE rumble matches would people recommend? Either because the rumble was great and/or it was stacked. 92 being an obvious one. I feel like theres some RA ones I definitely should watch.
And womens rumble wise, which would people say is the best? 18,19 or 20? I'm leaning towards 18 since it was the first to happen and they brought in bigger former stars too.Comment

The first one in 1988 is interesting to watch because they're still clearly getting a feel for how this concept is going to work, and what the rules are. Ten fewer competitors in this one. McMahon and Ventura were adamant that going over the top rope = elimination. It wasn't until the following year they added in (to clarify) the note about both feet having to hit the floor.
I'd say from 1988-91, that 89 is the best of that group and worth a watch.
1992 is always one to check out.
2007 is a personal favorite. HBK and Taker are the final two; a nice glimpse at what we'd see in their full-length WM matches a couple of years later.Currently Playing:

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I think the RR match is one of the few spectacles in wrestling that has actually evolved and become more exciting over the years since the 80s/90, even while the overall mystique of wrestling has faded. I would still rather watch the 1990 or 1992 one over most of the others, but adding in celebrities and returning legends has made it arguably the best PPV they do every year. Though I could do without the spots where you have 10 guys playing dead on the outside of the ring while 3 wrestlers do spots.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Good stuff coming up, hopefully for March we get some good shows leading up to Mania. I'm surprised in the section where all the standard DVD documentaries are they don't have the 'True Story of the Royal Rumble' documentary on the Network yet.Last edited by UFCMPunk; 12-31-2020, 01:25 AM.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I'm on Summerslam 2000.
That Shane vs Blackman ending! Shane's taken crazier bumps than almost anyone else in WWE history. That fall from what had to be 40 feet up was insane.
I dont think fans truly understood how crazy that was. Maybe it was because they were in Raleigh, but the crowd didnt go crazy for a spot like that. As JR said, that fall was probably twice as high as the Mick Foley HIAC moment.
2000 was one of most stacked rosters they've ever had, and it shows with the SS card.
Edge/Christian vs Hardyz vs Dudleyz in Tables, Ladders, Chairs (Oh my!)
Jericho vs Benoit in a 2/3 falls match (crazy to think this wasn't even a top 3 match on a card!)
Chyna pins Trish to become the IC champ (as per the match rules of the mixed tag match), which is a weird thing to say. Still feels weird thinking Chyna and Trish were around in the same era, even if it was only for a year, and well before Trish became good in the ring
Undertaker vs Kane
Rock vs HHH vs Angle main event. The HHH/Steph/Angle love triangle is entertaining. Final SD before SS had HHH with his funny overacting (playing the heroic guy going out to avenge his wife) and then ends with Kurt kissing Steph.
Minus Benoit for obvious reason, everyone else mentioned above is a current or future HOFer.Last edited by Majingir; 01-06-2021, 11:02 PM.Comment
