Yeah, that goes for most of the things I post in the “On this day in history…” thread too. They’re not all winners, but I try to find stuff I either didn’t know about or just forgot about, because I assume I’m not the only one who would’ve forgotten or not known a particular match.

As for this Rock/Undertaker title win…I don’t remember this at all either. But winning and losing it the same week explains why it’s forgotten.

I downloaded Peacock to watch some old wrestling. I was surprised to find that I get it for free with my Cox Cable. Anyway, I'm watching from the beginning of 1997. I was wondering though, why do they dub the wrestlers exit music sometimes. They play Mankinds normal entrance music before his match against, Goldust, I think, but afterwards they played some generic stuff. Why? I understand that some stuff is dubbed over because of copyright and all, but why the other stuff. It's not a big deal I was just wondering. I'm up to the King of the Ring 97 now and I'm really impressed Sycho Sid. I don't remember much from him from back then outside of a small stint in WCW so it's cool to see him in his prime.

I don’t remember how long it lasted, but Mankind had two themes when he started in WWF. The normal theme we all know when he entered, then a piano piece after he won. I think the story reason was that he was so disturbed the piano calmed him after his matches, but I might be remembering that wrong.

Unless you mean it wasn’t the piano music, then I don’t have an answer. Copyright’s usually the only reason they overdub theme songs though.

Yep, it was a piano piece. I never knew that. That's pretty cool for character development. Thanks!

Dunno how possible it really is to be underrated when you were as successful as Sid, but I so think he ofen flies under the radar for 90s torch bearers. Sid rules.

I got into wrestling sometime in 1998, around the Monday Night Wars time, so I missed a lot of good stuff. That's why I'm starting here at the beginning of 97. I never knew that Savio Vega and Crush were members of the Nation of Domination. Lol. But physically man Sid is something. He stood toe to toe with the Undertaker and Sid looks significantly more intimidating to me.

Just like on my podcast…..I’m a busy man.

                        And I’m tired. And cranky.

I'm just starting to watch the Ruthless Aggression series.. a good one so far. Watching the one called "Innovations" and it's quite interesting hearing Edge who won the first MITB match, did not want to be apart of it initially. Makes me wonder who would have won it if Edge didn't participate in it.

They should bring back RAW Roulette as a "Premier Live Event" and use that as the PPV for the month.

Cyber Sunday instead of Raw Roulette would be better imo. As long as its actual option, not just asking if you want to see Tozawa, Truth or Tamina compete for the 24/7 title.

I'm now watching S2 of the Ruthless Aggression series.

Episode 2 was great, and highlights one of the big things I liked about that era, the innovation (which is the name of the episode). You had Raw Roulette, Elimination Chamber, Taboo Tuesday/Cyber Sunday AND MITB introduced in less than a 3 year span. Funny enough, they said EC was created because HIAC felt overdone....nowadays we have annual EC AND HIAC events within months of each other.

It was cool seeing HHH/Booker/HBK/Jericho/RVD/Kane all sitting around the chamber before the PPV and talking about seeing it for the first time and ideas they might have for the match. They even showed Kane unmasked.

How many new and innovative matches can you think of that WWE has introduced in the last 10-15 years? Every era before 2008 seemed to introduce new and innovative things, but you dont see that much anymore.

Interesting hearing their takes on some stuff. Is it an outdated mindset from Prichard/WWE or the truth? Cyber Sunday and Raw Roulette were seemingly ditched because the talent didn't know what was going to happen before it happened, and in Prichards words, a "large part of the fanbase" LIKES knowing what they're gonna get. As in, they'd rather tune in to a show where they know it's A vs B, C vs D, rather than finding out DURING the show that its A vs E in a table match. To me, the unpredictability is what I loved about it.
