WWE would probably have to get the right/licensing for the character from TNA. Maybe pay them a fee and have Abyss appear in TNA for a one off or something.

I wonder what the reaction would even be though. Not a huge amount of WWE fans would know Abyss, especially when he hasn't appeared in TNA since around 2018 or so? It would work in a city like a NY or Chicago or Orlando, but don't think Indy would really have a TNA kind of crowd.

Sounding more and more like we won't be seeing much archived content on Netflix during the changeover.

They had such a good thing going for so long. I've spent however many years watching all episodes from 1997 and got my way up to 2002, right at the brand split. I was really looking forward to rewatching the RA era, guess I might never get that chance. Even other sites online which used to carry stuff don't have those weekly episodes from that timeframe.

I seriously do not understand why Netflix buying the rights to air Raw in 2025 and beyond means they also get the rights to every episode of Raw ever. Why even include that in the deal? Why give that to them? They clearly don't care about older content. Maybe it's seen as competition, and they don't want someone watching an episode of Raw from 1997 on Peacock instead of a week old episode of Raw on Netflix in 2025.

The implications for preservation of this type of content is pretty worrisome. We see it with video games, where they pull the plug on access to an old game because they want everyone to buy the new version. It sets a brutal precedent.

IIRC, Peacock is losing Raw archived footage too.

Just makes no sense to not have old episodes, especially internationally where you're literally the only broadcaster of WWE in a few weeks from now.

There's a reason people find alternative ways to watch things, is it really so bad if it's not even available to pay for if you do find other ways to watch?

The last episode of Raw I'll watch on the network, gonna miss having this. Hopefully Netflix has a good interface and actually has this content on it too, but it doesn't sound promising. Sucks if this is where I have to stop my watching of these episodes which I started doing a decade ago with pre-attitude era content.

Bubba Ray doing a dance off (JR with the "overly Caucasian" line lol)

Spike beats Regal in 2 seconds because the ref began his 3 count before the bell even rung to start the match!

Kevin Nash "suspended" (because he tore his quad again and needed time off), sucks that this was the last time we really saw the Hall/Nash NWO without realizing it (outside of a few NWO reunions over a decade later).

I could see how Austin was frustrated with creative. WM feud with Hall didn't have that main event feel to it, post WM he didn't do much, they suddenly have a WM rematch as the main event of Raw between Austin and Hall, simply because Flair made the match with no build besides the fact that Austin and Taker needed to compete in separate matches to determine the #1 contender for the Undisputed title, which both won, which set up another #1 contender match.

Final SD/WWE show I'm watching on the network:

Mandela effect (this moment many people thought is what started the you suck chants)

Same episode featured the Vince/Stacy segment everyone knows for the meme, but still feels weird to watch given everything we know, and no doubt was based on real events...

                Re: WWE Netflix/Peacock Discussion Thread

As expected, everything isn't there on day 1, but I imagine lots more will be added eventually.

Seems like in the US they have every episode of Raw on Netflix.

Internationally they have it randomly, but 02-21 doesn't have any episodes up so far.

Will suck if they don't upload it all, the interface from the US Netflix showing all the Raws by year does look organized, so hopefully it's just a matter of time before international fans get it too.

Too many were expecting a full migration from the network on December 31st to look that way on Netflix January 1st.

The way it is now feels more like it did in the earlier network days where they're putting out new original content while slowly unveiling more older episodes from time to time.

I reached out to them and they said more stuff will come before the end of the month, so that's promising.

I just don't understand how at the very least all of Raw's episodes are uploaded and in the catalog. I've been slowly going through them from the start and now I can't continue until who knows when. Just weird to me.

I wonder how the actual list was chosen of what went up.

There has to be some internal code tied to videos where the first batch went up based on code names or file names or something and it led to those, because I don't think anyone would've hand picked as random a selection as what was picked, and it's not like the shortest/smallest to upload videos went up in priority either.

I was going through earlier and it seems they only have so many years on it, and limited amount of episodes as well. It does have every year of RAW starting from 2022 to now, so that is good. I imagine they will add more throughout the year, more WWE content will be added and once the Peacock deal expires after this year then we'll see more content going over to Netflix. Peacock likely limits how much they can move over until the deal expires.

I wonder how much WWE knows regarding all of this too since they've been very quiet about it all too. Maybe they know it won't be perfect early on and aren't commenting on it?

Communication lately has been lacking about all of this. SD is in 2 days and no word from WWE even about where non US fans can even watch SD since it might not be on Netflix yet.

Trying out Netflix and seeing what WWE has so far...

Not exactly the same as how Disney has Marvel and other categories, but Netflix has WWE as its own genre so that counts I guess.

And definitely need to revamp the vaults. Looks like the PPVs are all up, but I hope we do see more episodes of Raw and SD. It absolutely is as random a selection as it gets before 2021.

So far the FF/RR on these on demand videos has been user friendly so I hope the live shows are a similar way too. I'll miss the 30 second skip ahead feature my tv remote had though, that skips through things so easily.

The music/voiceover for those 5 min WWE Legend profiles feels so eerie to me. It has "In Memoriam" tribute video feels to it.

Don't know if it's a Netflix thing or the network had it too, but within the WWE genre seems to have episodes that a superstar was in. It's obviously not complete since all episodes aren't up, but it has The Rock for instance and within his section it'll show every episode of every show he was part of. Not in any sort of order as yet though.

Triple H confirms that the WWE deal with Peacock ends in March of 2026. So does that mean everything from the WWE library will be moved over by then? Also does this open up the possibility of a London WrestleMania next year as Netflix's first Mania would be April 2026.

The company signed a five-year, multi-billion dollar deal to show WWE content on Peacock in 2021. This was huge for the company, as they continue to break records in viewership on the platform. That is interesting timing for sure.

Peacock deal ends literally days before WM42.

At least we know it won't be a SA Wrestlemania (yet....)

Netflix execs definitely would have a big say in where they'd want it. Would they want it live in primetime in the US, or do they just try it internationally and see how it does airing at some time like 2pm on the east coast here?

As for the library, the assumption is that everything moves over, but as seen so far with Netflix, don't get your hopes up for the switch happening on day 1. Could be strategically delaying uploads so it drags out some subscriptions.

I remember people saying that about the slow uploads on the WWE Network. I remember people saying that about the slow speed to move things over to Peacock. It's just wishful thinking.

The old stuff obviously doesn't drive enough traffic so it'll get there because they know there's some value in having that stuff available, but it'll probably take forever and I'm sure, like in the move to Peacock, some stuff will be lost in the switch. Hopefully the WWE Vault YouTube channel can pick up the slack there.
