If it was $20 for a year of the old WWE network I'd be down lol. But watching classic wrestling on Peacock with ads is a chore.

It's worth it for Prem league soccer tho for sure.

This is obviously only helpful on a browser, but I found that uBlock works on Peacock. I keep expecting them to change it and I'm sure at some point they will, but I've been watching ad-free for a couple years. You get the video fadeouts where ads would be but the show just skips them and picks back up.

        Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

        Random fact I found out.

Christian beat Bradshaw for the Euro title during a taped SD in 2001...yet it never aired on TV.

I'm watching Rebellion 2001 and they just casually bring it up like it happened on a house show.

Apparently the match got cut due to time constraints....it's a taped show, don't know how they cut a whole match with a title change due to time...Earlier in the night Christian also had a segment with Sean Casey that got cut.

Apparently no footage of the match existed until WWE released it just a few months ago.

Side note, feels weird seeing Edge vs Christian in a cage match, the old black cage for some reason.

And main event is Rock vs Austin for the WWF title. I don't get how those 2 barely interacted the entire Invasion (and only Singles Match is a non televised UK PPV), especially when last time they faced off was when Austin turned heel at WM, you'd think there'd be any sort of follow up. The Rebellion video package for their match was funny. Taking audio clips and making it sound like they were in a promo together during the Invasion, then using the video package from WM with generic music (which goes to show how much music makes a video package. That same video with lesser music just feels like just another video package)

There was only so much they could do given the limit on talent, but I still don't get why they didn't just hold off on it.

Even just make a stable of guys like they did with NWA talent. Then once you get Flair and NWO months later you could grow it into a full invasion.

But if the goal from the start was to bury WCW, they did their job. Of all the talent who did come over in 2001, DDP is the saddest treatment out of anyone.

Even ECW got such a poor treatment despite them having almost all the names you could want from ECW back then from RVD to Dudleys to Dreamer to Rhyno to Raven, all with Heyman there too (unless ECW talent refused to work with Heyman which is why they so quickly shifted from Heyman and ECW joining the Invasion right into "Heyman sold ECW to Stephanie so he can become a commentator.")

But given everything that happened at the time (HHH injury, Benoits injury, Eddie's suspension and firing, the failed WCW main event), the Invasion definitely didn't play out how they probably predicted, and it was too late in their mind to back track or go a diff direction for the time being.

Randomly popped into my head, everyone can always use a good laugh or two or twenty.

              Otunga: Can you stop that?

Slowly starting to pinpoint/realize the real origins of the "what" chants in the way we know them today.

Austin started doing the WHAT during the Invasion once he joined the alliance. But it didn't really catch on with fans for months.

Slowly fans started doing it, but more just them being like "what...what...what...what." and not doing so between pauses when someone's talking.

But now in November 2001, Raw came to Nassau Coliseum and those fans (at least a vocal minority) are slowly doing the "what" in-between pauses. The next night on SD in NJ it really ramped up (it was taped so they could've edited crowd volume, but it was still catching on from that week especially).

We had Rock-Austin on opposing sides of the Invasion for 4 months, all the bad blood since WM, and this is really the only time they interacted the whole time?! But they made up for it. This felt so much like a "After the cameras went off the air" or a house show type of segment (in a good way). I could listen to these two do a promo together for the entire show.

And Paul Heyman "shooting" on Vince was something else

                    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

Raw after the Invasion, you could obviously tell how much they were glad it's over. Really felt like a new era was starting.

Beginning of the show, Vince promises one of the fired Alliance members will join his newly formed club....(he felt way too natural/conformable when he and Regal was in the ring for it..)

The first members who ended up coming to the ring later in the show with him were Shane and Stephanie (the fact that on commentary JR even hinted at one or both joining the club shows how crazy the McMahon soap opera is).

A sign of how rushed and complicated the end of the Invasion was, fans believed RVD who was the hardcore champ was out of a job (they were trying to take over the McMahon promo mentioning 1 alliance member could save their job, but he had to stop to clarify to the crowd RVD already has a job since he's a current champ)

One of the many Vince-isms which makes little sense. He said he hates people with big egos, but if they have massive egos, he's ok with that.

                      Here's an interesting one...

Vengeance 2001, the night "Jericho beat The Rock and Stone Cold in the same night to become the first ever Undisputed champion in WWE history.".

The poster for the ppv.....Triple H who hasn't been seen on TV in 7 months.

During the show fans are chanting for Triple H, most notably when the final match begins and Austin and Jericho are both down and out.

I wonder if there were rumors at the time that HHH was returning on this show? His initial injury timeline on tv was 4-6 months so he was well past that.

I've always believed HHH was fully supposed to be the one to be the first ever Undisputed champ. Everything made so much sense for him to return by the end of the Invasion and be in this very spot. I feel that's the only reason Jericho won because they needed someone else in that spot for HHH to take the title off of.

Related to the Invasion, it seems like this season of Dark Side will have a Buff Bagwell episode.

I know that he was in a serious car accident in 2012, and he was arrested at one point,, but I'm curious how much dark stuff there is when it comes to his actual wresting career.

There was that infamous match with Booker T too where he was pretty much banished from WWE. I've seen tons of worse matches, even though the match wasn't good, but it kind of took on a legend of it's own.

Bagwell was done with major wrestling by his early 30's. Crazy he started in WCW so young.

VICE TV's "Dark Side of the Ring" is gearing up for season 5, and a new report looks to reveal a list of planned topics.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, season five of "Dark Side of the Ring" is on its way, and a list of episodes has been disclosed. Season five will reportedly cover "Black Saturday," the moment in 1984 where Vince McMahon staged a hostile takeover of Georgia Championship Wrestling's lucrative TBS cable TV timeslot. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle will also get an episode dedicated to his complicated life, as will ECW legend The Sandman.

Other names that will be getting featured episodes in season five of "Dark Side of the Ring" reportedly include Brutus Beefcake, Buff Bagwell, a man who has had a whole host of personal and legal troubles in recent years, and Harley Race, who passed away in 2019 after suffering from lung cancer. The final episode topic reported by WON will cover Chris Adams, the man credited for training Stone Cold Steve Austin, as well as popularizing the superkick
