Match was good, finish even better. Despite this match, Shelton never got a real push after this match. Could have done something similar to Kofi Kingston and gave Shelton a short run with either the World Title or WWE Championship.

If that spot is done today, Shelton would kick out of it as the 100th kickout of the match. Then some other boring move would actually end the match.

If it happened today, HBK would be doing moves like that on a weekly basis to the point where it gets watered down. Not to mention 10 replays of the moment throughout the same episode.

It’s a day late but I saw Foley tweeted this happened 22 years ago yesterday and I can’t stop laughing at Vince

Hogan always said he worked a different style in Japan because the Japanese are a different type of wrestling fan. What works in America doesn’t necessarily work in Japan.

I still hate how much they dropped the ball on Nexus. After that loss at SS, they were never the same.

I miss having annual big summer angles. Every June that was always what I looked forward to the most.

June 10th, 2002: The day the Rattlesnake took his ball and went home.

The story from Pro Wrestling Torch):

Before Raw on Monday afternoon, Steve Austin went home against management’s wishes for the second time this year.

WWE management had proposed to Austin on Sunday that he wrestle Brock Lesnar on Raw. Austin apparently didn’t like the storyline as proposed and believed that they were using the equity he had spent years to build up on a hotshot match with Brock Lesnar in order to try to pop a ratings increase. He didn’t want his hard–earned equity to be used to make up for their weak storywriting in recent months. He showed up at Raw early in the afternoon, and was on his way to the airport to fly home shortly thereafter.
It's actually quite odd that WWE didn't see Austin's point in building to what many considered a dream match. In hindsight, Austin was right for walking out if the company wasn't going to give the match any build. Ironic though that hot shotting feuds/angles for a rating is everything that's wrong with the company's booking in 2020.

On this Day June 11th, 2007: Vince McMahon's limo explodes. Of course we never did get to see where the story was heading on TV due to what would happen a couple weeks later.

Does anyone remember what this whole storyline was supposed to lead to?

A moment so crazy that a certain hall of fame president actually called WWEHQ to see if Vince was ok.

As for the story itself, I remember people saying Mr.Kennedy would come out and reveal himself as Vinces illegitimate son and wanting to inherit the WWE. It leads to a feud with Steph/Shane and HHH gets involved too (remember, at this point in time HHH and Steph were divorced on TV, it wasn't until the Orton story in 2009 when they revealed they were married and had kids). It would lead to a Mr.Kennedy vs HHH match at WM for control over WWE.

Vince returns at some point revealing he faked his own death.

It's so crazy how almost any other point in history this story could've been done. If they did it even a month prior, they could've gone somewhere with it. Having it happen a week or so before the Benoit stuff was crazy. I hope that story didn't do anything to/for Benoit.

June 19th, 1994.... Owen Hart wins King Of The Ring. This was the second annual KOTR PPV, and with Owen's win, Owen & Bret became the first and only brothers to win the KOTR tournament.

Bret Hart defended the WWF Championship against Diesel, Roddy Piper vs Jerry Lawler main evented the show and Besides Owen's win, this PPV is mainly known for the legendary commentary of Baltimore Colts' Legend Art Donovan.

I'm surprised Vince never attempted a WCW PPV. Would that have worked in 2002 or something? Sounds like something that could've worked. Imagine the greatest WCW PPV ever being under the WWE.
