    You know the rest...
I wonder what the modern equivalent would even be?

Reigns and Rollins going to AEW and aligning with Jericho?

But to think, its been 25 years since this happened, but this feels like it's been a "vintage"/classic moment in wrestling for at least the last 20.

The modern would have to involve John Cena (and even that wouldn't be as big as Hogan doing it was, obviously).

Reigns and Rollins defecting with John Cena debuting as the third man. Moxley would be in the middle as everyone would expect Moxley to be the third man and turn on his team. Similar to how people thought Luger would have turned on Sting & Savage. It has to involve Cena, he's the only one with the star power of Hogan to make it work. Jericho wouldn't work, Moxley reuniting with them and a non PG Shield sounds fun but it has to be Cena.

We all know it’s nWo day, but uh…Great Khali and Tatanka also had a match on this day in 2006. What the hell?

I chose Jericho since he's the biggest name in AEW, and has been there a few years. Like how Hogan was in WCW a few years by time NWO happened, and he was still big in WCW pre NWO, but not as big as in WWF.

100% this. Only thing that could be comparable.

Re-watching Bash at the Beach 1996 and watching the main event. The build to this entire match was incredible, Hall interrupting a match on Nitro then Nash coming a week later. The build to who the third man was, Tony, Bobby & Dusty on commentary during the match selling how this is about defending WCW from these invaders, these outsiders they were known.

Lex Luger dying on a stinger splash, that was the moment WCW made us think it could be Luger, also a former WWE guy. Then the whole mystery about who the third man is the entire match, it was genius. I don't think we'll ever see something like that today where they don't reveal the mystery man until the end. Savage with the hot tag, cleaning house only to get cut off by Nash. Then everyone thinks Hulkamania is coming to save the day.... nope.

That Hogan promo was so damn good.... "who knows more about that organization than me brother." "When it came to pass, the name Hulk Hogan, the man Hulk Hogan got bigger than the whole organization."

"As far as I'm concerned, all this crap in the ring represents these fans. I did everything for the kids, for the charities...", just incredible. I could totally see Cena saying the same thing after showing up in AEW.

I know that that PPV was the first (probably only) time I legit wanted to get a WCW PPV. WCW at that time felt so much like the B show, even though WWE wasn't setting the world on fire at the time either.

Anyone remember that time Ric Flair and Spike Dudley faced off in a match?

                          Also on this date:

In 1986, Harley Race won the second WWF King of the Ring tournament.

July 14th, 1984. The day the wrestling world stood still... AKA Black Saturday.

Like I said about the other invasion clip, July 2001 was such a great month for that whole story.
