One, there's no reason to expect AEW to follow WWE's terms on non-compete clauses.

Two, a company firing someone isn't the same as them not picking up an option on a contract. Obviously the cost is going to be higher to get out of a contract when the company wants to keep you.

Seems like a win for Regal though. What do we lose as viewers...someone saying WAR GAMES once a year? Oh man, how are we going to survive that?

And even WWEs 90 day no compete, it's not 90 days without pay because that I'd imagine is illegal.

They're paying you for the remaining 90 days, at which time you're not allowed to go elsewhere.

If AEW is paying Regal in 2023, then there's nothing wrong with saying he can take a backstage role in WWE but not appear on TV.

He would've been a good TV character besides just saying WARGAMES. The "WWE management" role we see Pearce and sometimes others do would've been a good one to have Regal in.

Well this is a little overdramatic. If they could get together, work it out, and move forward, cool...but the idea of The Elite and CM Punk being able to work together isn't something that changes the course or future of pro wrestling.

Not super interested in saying whether it will or it won't, more of a discussion for those 20-30 years in the future, but I feel like in the moment, you can say this about any event that did 'change the course.'

It's not gonna be a revolutionary industry changing thing, but it's not exactly a bad thing having CM Punk still on the card for shows.

It's a shame it all went down this way though. Imagine having Punk vs Omega on PPV.

Chris Jericho and other top stars are saying they will ensure CM Punk does not come back according to Meltzer. Jericho wants to be like Undertaker so bad in the locker room lol. We'll see if they turn it into a work or not but this whole thing just needs to end.... either release Punk or bring him back when he heals.

Not even sure which off topic thread this should go in, but I'll do it in AEWs since it originated from Casters rap on Dynamite.

So after Caster joked about Jeff/Karen/Angle on TV, Karen has come out and accused Kurt of also cheating, and named divas like Dawn Marie and Kelly Kelly.

Kelly has come out denying those claims.

Not the wrestling drama you'd expect to start the year.

Tony Khan said he's following the WWE sale very closely.

Not that I think he'll buy it, but is there any chance he could buy part of the company (like how celebs buy 0.1% of a sports team and suddenly they're one of the faces of the ownership despite not really having any power)?

Like whatever company wants to put in a bid for WWE, Tony invests X million to be a small part of that ownership.

                          Follow up post....

If there actually is serious dissension with the McMahons/HHH, would Stephanie/HHH ever consider joining AEW? I'm sure the odds are probably 0.001%, but you never know anymore. If they got pushed out of WWE, disagree with the entire future of the company/ownership, and a falling out with Vince, could they want to stay in the business or just ride off in the sunset?

With how this is (possibly) playing out this isn't out of the realm of possibility, Maj.

Buy Ring of Honor from Tony, then take it and rebrand it to whatever and start their own promotion. I'll be down for it 100%.

If you're going to rebrand it, why would you buy it? Especially since I'm near 100% positive Tony would want to keep the only thing worthwhile in ROH, the tape library.
