Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
So true, it's great in many ways for them to have him for the beginning but I think they will need to bring someone else in once they find the right person.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
Since the start of the Wednesday Night War, Balor and Ciampa returned and NXT has been building up to one of them facing Cole for the NXT Championship. Same thing with Rhea and Shayna, started the build prior to Takeover Chicago and used WarGames to set up the match. I like AEW but the lack of storytelling outside of Jericho, Cody and a select few is making me watch NXT Live then AEW on DVR later.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
AEW focused too much on the wrestling and not as much on everything else.
Like mentioned, it's good matches but where's the meaning behind them? And what has happened to make us care about most of these characters? They need storytelling and storylines which make you not want to wait until next week to see what happens next. Just like many action or drama tv shows.
They've done great job at comedic moments though.

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
What the hell was the point of that ending with the Dark Order?! Weird way to end a big show.
Also, I think with how deep NXT is talent wise and them only doing 4 or 5 PPV's a year, they can afford to "give stuff away."
AEW needs to do a better job of storytelling and giving people, not named Jericho, Rhodes or MJF, mic time to get over. They also need to start building guys who had less of a following in the "indies" even harder like Private Party & Luchasauras (however you spell it).

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
It was about who WASN'T there. Bucks, Cody, Kenny all taken out. Hangman was nowhere to be found.
A group who tries recruiting people who've lost their way and are losing matches, and the most noticeably absent guy from that whole thing was someone who is losing his way and lost a big match an hour earlier.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
Interesting theory on a "botch"? I saw.
Someone from Dark Order missed all their punches to Dustin. Was it a botch, or done on purpose?
Imagine if Dark Order is led by Dustin Rhodes who recruits Adam Page.
Now that'd be a personal feud to have Dark Order vs The Elite.Comment

It was directly in front of the hardcam, so ... maybe? Nah, I think it was just a bad botch.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite Thread
One of the issues with AEW not making talent seem as important is partially connected to WWEs mindset. The whole "What you've done before means nothing. If it didnt happen in wwe, it doesn't matter".
AEW does the exact opposite but they need a mix of both. They emphasize non AEW reputations as a reason fans should care about people they know nothing about. Their prior careers should carry some weight, but AEW needs to do a better job of making their AEW careers the focus and do things to make guys stand out.
You'll get the real hardcore indy fans caring about guys who've been in NJPW and ROH and all that. But to most others, that means nothing.Comment

Due to prior commitments Kris Statlander has been pulled from her match against Riho next Wednesday. Riho will now face Britt, Nyla and Hikaru on the 1/1 show.Comment
