    Re: AEW Dynamite Thread

Tony Khan has got to negotiate a 5-10 minute overrun into the next TV deal. Mox wins, Regal gets in the ring starts talking to Bryan, the Rampage graphic is up, Bryan goes to grab the belt and fade to black. The fact there are still pacing issues three years in is crazy, but that can be helped by trimming down match times and getting rid of false finishes that extend the match beyon what it needs.

You're crowning a new World Champion and you are rushing to get off the air as soon as the match is over. They are going to pull a Halloween Havoc 98/99 on themselves but on free TV and we won't see a match ending because of it.

It's not even a TV timeslot issue, it's just their pacing/booking.

I know everyone wants to have as much time as they want to do all the moves they want to get in their respective match, but you had 4 matches on the card go 12-20 mins. The Women's tag was the shortest, and even that went 10 mins.

Total match time was 1hr and 10 mins. It's a 2 hour show. Including picture and picture I would guess the show is really like 1 hour and 40 mins? So all of 30 mins was spent on 12 entrances, 5 match aftermath, promos/segments and commentary setting up upcoming matches. Doesn't sound like a lot of time to me

Wheeler’s promo game is getting better. He more than held his own against MJF.

That didn't take long for Saraya to join the anti WWE crowd in AEW. "I have a boss who will finally listen to me".......

I didn’t catch her segment but people made it sound like she’s NOT wrestling? Was Meltzer right after all?

                  Re: AEW Dynamite Thread

Kinda weak Dynamite this week. Although I did enjoy the Saraya promo. I thought she showed everyone that her promo skills is levels above many of the other women on the roster. Her exchange with Britt Baker was a highlight for sure as Britt had some great points. Yuta was tolerable in his promo this week too. But even MJF couldn't do much to make it better. Their brawl after the Moxley/Juice Robinson match was nice though. Speaking of that match, Moxley had to bleed again. Bryan Danielson vs Matt Menard was a weak match though. At least Danielson didn't wear a white t-shirt this time.

The only main highlight was the old veteran Chris Jericho. From his opening promo to the main event match against Bandido. Some nice spots in this match and it made me think that Bandido could win the Title back. But of course, Jericho retains as it looks like his new motive is to embarrass ROH anyway he can. This will either bury ROH more or help make the fans care about ROH and for someone to dethrone him. We shall see....

                    Re: AEW Dynamite Thread

The opening segment was convoluted and all over the place.

I understand you want to present talent as credible...but Menard should not have controlled as much of the match against Danielson (the best wrestler in the world) as he did, even before the interference.

Yes, Wheeler held his own, but MJF is still lightyears ahead of him in the promo game. It'll be a good match when they lock up though.

I've seen Mox and Juice have better matches in NJPW. The brawl between Wheeler and MJF was nice though.

The Saraya segment was all over the place as well and it seemed like they were stalling for time. It was even more convoluted than the opening segment.

I think the Lumberjack match took the attention off of Storm/Deeb. There was no reason for it to be a specialty match. Storm and Deeb are good enough on their own. I know that Twitter complains all the time that women should get more segments, but simply slamming them all on my screen is not the way either.

Good to see Ricky Starks wrestle on Dynamite. Now it's up to TK to help Starks realize his potential.

Jericho/Bandido was easily the best part of the night. They worked snugly, the match flowed very well, and the crowd was definitely into it. Jericho crapping all over ROH is an interesting idea, but this is the highest profile that ROH has had in years...for better or worse.

They demand they get more time, but then are the first to bury them if it's not good. That's both AEW and WWE. Women's wrestling is what it is in 2022, it can still drag compared to an average men's match.

There just aren't many options for women to get TV-ready for wrestling so they have to go through the growing pains in front of the camera. Theoretically Dark and Elevation would help with this, but some of the women who need the experience end up facing others with a similar level of experience so it ends up being a wash.

This is a problem for guys too, but there are more men wrestling so it's easier to get more different matches and experience under your belt and progress quicker.

I think AEW's women's roster is fine on paper, they're just in the WWE pattern where only one feud can matter at a time so a bunch of women just wind up waiting around for something to do.

Andrade vs 10 has been called off (likely due to what went down with him and Sammy).

Has he been suspended? Probably not fired I'd imagine. It would be weird having him go out and compete in a match where the stipulation ironically was that if he loses he gets fired.

Next weeks will be way better.

I'm actually surprised AEW couldn't book a bigger venue for Toronto. Guess their next event here will be huge (maybe a PPV?). Even then, you'll have 7,000 fans and a 1m gate for the show.
