MJFs character is an interesting one.

He is a "scumbag", but he's also popular.

One of the few guys who can be a heel or a face without even changing anything about them.

The problem for AEW is that in a vacuum these things aren't really mortal sins of booking, and the Toni Storm thing makes some logical sense for the story (kinda sorta), but there really isn't much good content to minimize the misteps. The mistakes pile up into a nonstop drumbeat of negativity from critics. WWE can do some braindead things, but the show overall is well received so it's mostly drowned out.

Between NXT in that venue in Lowell to AEW at hammerstein, I love seeing these kinds of venues for these shows. Makes it stand out and feel like a special kind of show.

They should look at venues like this more often.

Ricochets burn to Swerve (pun intended) ending that backstage segment saying "no wonder you don't have a house anymore"

A fan holding a sign saying "Kyle Fletcher likes home alone 3" is such a diss. I'm disappointed nobody thought of that for Dominik Mysterio. He'd be the perfect guy to make fun of for liking home alone 3-5.

This might be one of my fave troll chants from a crowd ever.

"Nananana, nananana, hey hey hey, you're bald!"

And then gets toilet paper thrown at him post match.

Ospreay doing the smart thing, quoting Tony Khan so he can't get fined.

For a second at the end of the MJF/Cole match I thought when they were in the ring that KOR/Strong were gonna side with MJF and attack Cole.

And that main event, Copelands back. AEW getting Copeland and Omega back to start the new year is huge for them. Don't think we've ever seen a Copeland/Mox interaction before? Shield debuted after he retired, he returned to WWE after Mox left.

Speaking of the Shield, nice moment having them do the Shield powerbomb through the table to Mox.

And a slightly shorter PPV for AEW which was great. I think the PPV ran for 3.5 hours? 3 hours is the ideal PPV length IMO for non major shows, but 3.5 is at least better than 4.

They really need to figure out how to get fans to root against MJF somehow. An ironic thing to say considering he's been the best heel in wrestling for the past 5-6 years, but it's true. This entire Cole storyline is like a crash course in what can go wrong and how not to book.

To be fair, his injury impacted the main part of the story, although Taven/Bennett aren't exactly the most interesting guys either. I'd rather see a UE team up than a UK one.

I don't know if they can get MJF booed at this point. His entire character is being the unfiltered "scumbag" who always goes after the low hanging fruit, but that's also what people like about him.

Wow... the lighting is so much better, SRS noted the hard cam is higher up, maybe a bit too high. They are using the sports like presentation of showing wrestlers coming into the arena. Everything already looks better.

They're using I'm So Excited as the intro. That's a choice. Not a bad one, but it's a choice for a wrestling intro.

Cameras are definitely higher. I wonder if thats a production change or the venue setup causing it. It's more of an overhead angled view than a straight across one.

Ricochets armed and dangerous, he's running around with....a pair of scissors.

I don't see him actually winning the title, but seeing Sting, Bryan and now Jarrett retiring in AEW, it's crazy seeing all of it happening in succession like that.

I wouldn't mind a different kind of retirement for him. Announcing he's retiring by a certain date, but then he gets challenged by the world champ in a title vs career match months sooner than that retirement date, making people think he'll win it and drop it by time he retires, but he winds up losing that match instead.

Yeah, I think she's going for a 1960s London type thing, but I'm not a fan. Her Stardom look was the best, and it matched her overall strong/stiff style way better.
