Tony Schovanie: That's not a fan, that's Cope's Wife Beth.... Cope. I can't believe she's here in AEW!Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
I wonder if the reason for the change is because there's so many ADAM's with Copeland, Cole and Page that he just decided to go by a different name (maybe Cope is his real life nickname?)Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
Everyone all of the sudden referring to him as Cope in lockstep feels so Vince. Like 2010s era Vince obsessed with all language and commentary being restricted and homonogenized. I hate it when stuff like that sticks out so bad. I want AEW to be the opposite of that, but that ship has sailed.Comment

Jericho still holding a grudge over Adam/Copeland/Cope/Edge for..
I still hate how Edge got injured and we were robbed of what could've been such a cool tag title reign. Given what we saw with Jerishow, we could've seen Edge/Jericho in that match also featuring DX and Cena/Taker.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
Omega's return match vs Gabe Kidd was amazingly great. I was expecting some kind of ring rust, but Kenny was as sharp as ever. It was a brawl in the style of his match against Jericho years ago, so even if he had been at 50% it still would have been great, but his timing was dead on perfect.
The show overall was OK. First half the show the crowd felt barely alive, but eventually there was a pulse. Ricochet vs Zack Sabre Jr had great intensity, but didn't really feel like a Tokyo Dome main event.
NJPW still has the best atmosphere for wrestling tho. The crowd allows moments to happen without interjecting annoying chants like they do in America. Being able to hear guys **** talk each other is such a unique and cool thing. Unfortunately New Japan as a promotion is still way down and searching for a direction.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
Looks like there was some "controversy" during Wrestle Dynasty.
NJPW Commentator Chris Charlton was ripping AEW during the broadcast, comments which didn't go over well with AEW management. He's been put on "indefinite hiatus" for the comments.
I didn't see the show, but reading the comments he made, it feels more like the issue is that he didn't run it by AEW management first on those comments. Being the heel commentator who supports NJPW and rips AEW is fine, as long as AEW knows you're doing that too, more specifically, mentioning Tony Khan.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
MJF "reveals" Jarretts deal is for 1 year.
I thought it was implied last week it was for one year?
Either way, it's weird thinking Sting and Danielson retired in the same year and now Cena and Jarrett retire in the same year.Comment

First ever "hot girl graps" match.
The women's casino Gauntlet match happens next week, winner gets title shot at grand slam Australia.
Is this week's match a test to see if Harley works out? Or will they have the upstart Toni Storm attempt to climb the ranks and go for her first title in AEW?Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
A return tonight but its not a talent.
AEW is bringing back the "elevated ramp".
The one like what WCW had, and in AEW we've rarely if ever seen it since Adam Coles injury.
From a presentation standpoint it might seem nice, but if you're having people fighting on/around it, I think the traditional style is better.
Kenny Omega competes in his first match in AEW since December 2023. His last match...against Ethan Page, which was also Ethan's last match in AEWLast edited by Majingir; 01-15-2025, 08:27 PM.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
Having the commentary crew directly across from the hard cam reminded of the WWECW days on Syfy. I like not having a cookie cutter overall look every week, although sometimes it just reminds you that they are running smaller and smaller buildings.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
WWE breaks up the new day.
Now AEW breaks to the Acclaimed.
For a moment I thought they were going to go full New Day on this and call out Billy and then Max/Bowens just side with each other and go after Billy.
And Storm/Schiavone in the ring....it's truly Ton(i/y) time!Last edited by Majingir; 01-19-2025, 01:06 AM.Comment

Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread
Weird choice to air a Hart/Brody/Buddy promo declaring the HOB dead moments after Julia was already in the ring (being introduced as a member of the house of black) while the promo that aired was claimed to be from earlier in the day.
But that all but confirms what everyone knows that Malakai is done.
I wonder what the new group will be called. Just don't change Julia's theme even though it was made partially because of the HOB (apparently her theme was changed already, they changed "the house always wins" to "the Hart always wins")
Another week where even though it's not AEW in some big arena for a show, going to these smaller venues is nice because these kinds of venues have a different "character" than many other arenas where they all look and feel similar.Last edited by Majingir; 01-22-2025, 10:10 PM.Comment
