Plus, he already has a good understanding of what can get you over in WWE most of all (being witty on the mic, catchphrases and the crowd chanting your ****).

Just like LA Knight and the "Yeah" chants, Trick's "whoop that, Trick" chant is gonna be really, really over.

I think the Kobe/Shaq comparison really does work well for them.

Melo(Kobe) is the much better athlete and way more skilled in the ring (on the court).

But Trick (Shaq) is dominant on a diff level and obviously one thing about him people will remember is his charisma/entertainment value.

You could tell its bad when even Waller instantly didn't know what to do.

Good and bad thing that things like this become normalized. You never want to see moments like that, but at least nowadays it gets stopped right away than "push through until the end". I remember when they first started stopping matches when people got legit busted open and fans booed. Now, you understand the risk of concussions among other things like that.

Shield powerbomb through the announce table to end SD.

          Wasn't expecting that.

Unrelated to the main event, but my favorite thing about the return of Kairi Sane is that she stuck with this emo - esque character from before she left.

I would love to see the 'Pirate Princess' gimmick return as an underdog babyface, but this gimmick is just so damn good. Especially the weird ways she emotes and plays off the other members of Damage Control. Other than Punk or Rhodes, she's the best re-hire in the "Triple H/Endeavor Era," IMO.

            Basically, I'm a mark for Kairi. [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

So Kevin Patrick is on the hot seat when it comes to being the lead announcer. It is being said that he has to step up in order to keep his job, and having Cole with him on SD for a bit was to see if he would get better. Now that Cole is on RAW only, it seems he hasn't impressed the company with his commentating.

Maybe you move him down to NXT with Booker T, put Vic Joseph on Smackdown? Does Triple H try to bring back Mauro? Who else do they have that could replace Kevin as the lead?

Chelsea for sure has been one of the best in that category though. She could win a singles title and I wouldn't mind it at all.

Find the next Pat McAfee. Obviously that'll be real hard, but he was exactly what you need in a wrestling commentator. Turned up to 12 every single time he opened his mouth. He made people really want to see BOOGS every single week and could make any moment sound exciting. The way he called things and the way JR called things, they could be commentating on grass growing and it'd sound exciting and/or funny.

With Vince and Dunn out, maybe that could help find the next great commentator? Don't have to worry about someone in a commentators ear, or forcing them to adjust to a very specific style.

You need an entertainer on commentary. Their whole job is to call the action for 2-3 hours a week, you don't need generic wrestling guy #24 who'll talk about fujiwara armbars and torque. You need someone who'd "speak in all caps" as often as you need, making moments in the show seem big, making you laugh, keeping you tuned in.

I'd still take Kevin over either of those two, to be honest. Vic isn't bad but I think he benefits a lot from playing off Booker T. I don't know if he can replicate that chemistry with Graves.

                    Mauro...just no.

Maj, why are you being so pedantic? Kairi wasn't "randomly released" either, remember.

She left when her contract was up, while Punk and Cody were both fired/released, but I don't care about when it happened. Or if it happened during some "budget cuts" period of time. That neither guy was released before, during or after the Thunderdome Era is insignificant, especially when most of that talent is tolling away in AEW.

My point was that I think those three are the biggest rehires (and I'm a huge mark for Sane [emoji38][emoji28]). Chelsea has been killing it too, but WWE needs to still figure out the women's tag team division.

I loved McAfee, but trying to find another person to do his style would be lame. Just find someone with personality that can call matches and help build stories/storylines in the commentary booth. That is what made Gorilla Monsoon and J.R. so special, IMO, and let Corey Graves play off that person naturally.

I don’t follow Raw that closely, is Jey doing anything noteworthy at the moment? With the way they’re hyping up Reigns being at such a disadvantage at the Royal Rumble I’m expecting some sort of swerve and it has me thinking Jey rejoins the bloodline

He's been linked up with Kofi vs Imperium the last couple weeks. So no.

He just came off that feud with McIntyre last month.

Everything right now just seems to be waiting for the Rumble since he's done everything he had to on Raw (the redemption stuff with Cody, the McIntyre feud, stuff with Sami/Owens).

Once the rumble happens that definitely has to be planting the seeds for the Uso vs Uso WM match. I could even see WM going that way too. Night 1 kicks off with Jimmy vs Jey vs Solo? (with Rikishi as the ref?) and night 2 ends with Rock vs Reigns.

15 & 16: WCW World Heavyweight Championship (Jeff Jarrett & Kevin Nash kind of)

The less said about this time in WCW, the better. Flair beat Jeff Jarrett on a May 15, 2000 version of Nitro. Vince Russo (the former head writer of the WWE) then stripped him of the title. I don’t really know why or care to know why, I guess.

Vince Russo then awarded the vacant championship to Jarrett, but Kevin Nash stole the belt before losing to Jarrett in a No Holds Barred matched on a May 22, 2000 edition of Nitro. Later that week, Nash beat Jarrett and Scott Steiner in a triangle match to win the belt. He then gave it to Flair at the next Nitro, but Flair lost it immediately to Jarrett.

Kind of a big mess, really. I can’t imagine why they didn’t last much longer. I can’t believe the 16th title reign is recognized while many others are not.
They mentioned him as a 14 time champ on a few occasions, and JR on commentary was like "by my count its 16".

So there's definitely lots of confusion all around.

                                Tonight's Card for RAW:

                                - Cody Rhodes kicks off RAW tonight. What will he say? 2K24 Cover Reveal? A new challenger who opposes Cody finishing his story?

                                - Seth Rollins defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Jinder Mahal.

                                - The Ring General and longest IC Champion Gunther returns.

                                - Judgment Day will have their hands full with two tag matches as The Awesome Truth take on Finn & Damian Priest. DIY will take on Dirty Dom and JD McDonagh
