Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
2 hours is the perfect time. Especially when business is good and the product is relatively hot. You want the show to fly by and be surprised that it's already over. You can have a C+ level show and still get that feeling, but at 3 hours even a B+ show drags. It's 1/3 less show with 33.3% less commercials, and my Steiner math says that's 6^6 and 2/3% better.Comment

Or more likely...I just record it and start it at 9 and be done by 10-10:30 anywaysComment

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
Someone set the pyro off when Punk was on stage. They almost did him like they did the Undertaker.
Punk at least had a funny response.
"I've already been through hell, if you want to set me on fire now would be the time to do it."
Punk indirectly mentioning his AEW time by mentoring he returned to wrestling in 2021 but returned home in 2023.
They're really gonna make the Netflix debut a super show. Probably having Punks return, Rock's return and more.Last edited by Majingir; 10-07-2024, 07:49 PM.Comment

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
Xavier Woods gets his IC title shot. He has a chance to win the IC.....and he lost. Guess match lengths got cut in a 2 hour show.
Sounds like the PFR stuff is aboutSpoilerViking Raiders

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
I wonder if Sami does make his way to SD....
Between the Bloodline feud to Cody/KO happening, surely he's got to step in somewhere...
I wonder why everyone (Cody and Rollins) are saying they "CANT" comment on what happened with KO on Saturday. Cody says he doesn't want to speculate...Hasn't it been confirmed it's KO, what's to speculate?Last edited by Majingir; 10-07-2024, 08:51 PM.Comment

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
I like that they addressed the reaction online to the Crown Jewel poster being released already.
Not that anyone thinks Sami is winning, but it's nice that they at least mentioned the poster on tv and did a mockup of what the Sami version would look like if he was the champ.Comment

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
I'd love overruns on a 2 hour show, but I fully expect it to be a hard out every single week.
USA signed the temporary extension for Raw and are the only reason the show is 2 hours. Don't think they'd suddenly want overruns to throw off their night programming.
But that's more reason I want a 2 hour or 2.5 hour show on Netflix. You aren't restricted to a limit so let's say one week they do all they need to in 2 hours. That's great. But on weeks where they need that extra 15-30 mins, go ahead.
It does feel weird that Raw is over already, but at the same time it keeps things fresher. HHHs booking style is more of a slow burn, and having a 2 hour show does just that. No need to cram everything in one show, or let's you space things out more.Comment

It will take time to get used to, but if they go back to 3 hours on Netflix we will likely already be used to 2 Hour RAWs again. Also you have to think too, being done by 10PM means you aren't competing with Monday Night Football for as long as they used to. They are done by even before halftime, so that might be something Netflix takes into consideration as well. I think it's similar to what AEW just did with Dynamite where they had a 30 minute overrun. When you can do all you can in 2 hours, end it at 2 hours but say something like tonight where you had Sami vs Gunther for the WHC. WWE can say, there will be a 30 minute overrun to allow as much time as possible for the WHC match or whatever.Comment

People freaking out having no idea the show was done after 2 hours (this gives me "shopping 5 mins before the store is closed and being surprised when they close" vibes).
Others complaining that this show had too many ads. Will be interesting to see what the actual runtime was when you take away ads. Usually it should be around 85 or so minutes for a 2 hour show. When I was watching I actually felt the opposite and seemed like the ad breaks were SHORTER.Comment

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread
I pvr'd RAW. When the Gunther/Zayn match started I was thinking that's crazy having the title match so early in the show, maybe something huge is going to happen later.
I never heard of it being only 2 hours lol.
It would be awesome if it stays at 2 hours on Netflix.
Not that the current product isn't good enough for 3 hours but there is so much wrestling in other promotions that I'd like to at least casually watch. If both Raw and Smackdown went to 3 hours on Netflix it hurts the overall wrestling business in my opinion.
When Raw sucked a few years ago it was easy to skip 70% of it but now it's harder to skip bad parts so good for WWE but makes it a lot more to watch.Comment
