Re: AEW All Out (9/4/22)
I'm beyond disinterested in worked shoot storylines, especially when they are fed into by the newsletters. Tony Khan feels like the type who would want that level of drama. I just don't care about trying to decipher what is real and what isn't. I'm not interested in being marketed to as a "smart" fan. It just feels like a giant waste of time. What is the payoff? A worked wrestling match? Dumb.Last edited by dubcity; 09-05-2022, 03:48 PM.Comment

I never got to see this angle. I think Tony experienced every emotion over these 20 minutes. And Denise's audio is 1000x better than what went live over AEW's live stream.
NSFW language obviously.

The moment CM Punk beat Hangman at Double or Nothing, is when seemingly all the leaks began. I don't remember any of this backstage drama a year ago when Punk came in or the two years prior.Comment

Re: AEW All Out (9/4/22)
Here's the timeline of events from what I have gathered...
1. Wrestling media begins reporting that CM Punk got Colt Cabana knocked off of television and potentially fired from AEW (beginning/middle of May).
2. In the build to Double or Nothing, Hangman goes off script and goes into business for himself on CM Punk.
3. Colt Cobana signs a new contract with ROH.
4. CM Punk defeats Hangman at Double or Nothing, breaks foot at the following Dynamite, out for three months.
5. First of August, AEW announced an expansion of talent relations, creating a middle management level.
6. Punk returns, and he goes into business for himself on Hangman after Hangman didn't apologize for going off script in the Double or Nothing build.
7. Media reports how big of a cancer Punk is in the locker room.
8. Talent meeting where management emphasizes to stop leaking to the press and don't go into business for yourself.
9. Tony Khan gives several interviews where he specifically says that Punk had absolutely nothing to do with Colt Cabana prior to All Out.
9. Punk wins title at All Out, lays out his side of the story in his situation with Colt Cabana, completely buries Hangman, alleges that the EVPs (upper management) are the source of leaks to the media and buries them as well.
10. Bucks aren't happy with Punk's comments, allegedly a fight breaks out between Bucks, Omega, Punk, and Ace Steel (AEW producer/Punk's trainer).
11. Bucks and Kenny Omega are threatening to walk out.
12. Brandon Cutler does not put out a BTE episode today. (lol)
If this is all a work, then this is some Vince Russo level of stupidity. Last night, our top heel returns and becomes the number one contender for the title that is held by our top babyface. But we're not talking about that. Instead, we are talking about this nonsense and have completely undermined what closed out the show.
If this is a shoot, then this explains why you can't have talent in upper management. Competent management would've squashed this back at step 2. But Hangman was friends with upper management, so of course, it doesn't get squashed. This situation is allowed to fester for three months...and it blew up in their face last night.
Now you're top drawing babyface is beyond unhappy. Had this been squashed back in the spring, things would've probably been okay. Instead, we're in an untenable situation ("we're past the time for apologies"). Who goes? We'll use last week's Dynamite as an example. Punk had the second highest viewed segment of the night (1.07M viewers -- Mox had the highest segment at 1.19M viewers to open the show). The Elite had the lowest viewed segment of the night, with the viewership of their main event match against United Empire going from 929k viewers at the start to 896k viewers by the end. The arrival of Punk to the company started bringing in the million-dollar gates, the PPV buys, the merch, etc, etc. The Elite helped start the company, but they seem more concerned about creating a vision versus making money.
Or again...it's all a work.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 09-05-2022, 07:23 PM.Comment

Re: AEW All Out (9/4/22)
SRS reported on the podcast that he heard the backstage fight included Kenny Omega, at least one Jackson with Ace Steel & CM Punk.
Nick Jackson got knocked out. Ace bit Kenny and that there was a chair thrown.
Hahahahahah hahahahahahaha. No legitimately, I can't stop laughing at picturing this!

Re: AEW All Out (9/4/22)
I don't buy any of it. The idea that the root of this is was Hangman's promo about workers rights and standing up for AEW against Punk, and then after that they worked a match. The MJF worked shoot opened the door to this. Unless people think that was real? Tony Khan grew up on this type of stuff on message boards and reading the Observer.Comment

One WWE star told SRS this...
"If they don't get over it and make money with it, none of them have any business talking about who is drawing what houses."

Re: AEW All Out (9/4/22)
I don’t know…this makes me less interested in their shows. If it’s real, it looks bad for it to have blown up in public like this and now what, is everyone going to take whiny jabs at each other every week? If it’s a work it just seems so overcomplicated and stupid. Maybe I’m wrong though - is this kind of stuff really what wrestling fans want now?Comment

Re: AEW All Out (9/4/22)
For better or worse...Cornette has his take on the situation. "This isn't the first time the Bucks and Omega have been in the middle of something like this. But it's the first time it's been this public."
