Mets Take World Series Opener!!!!!



Mets get early edge in World Series, beat Yankees to take 1-0 lead.

In front of their hometown fans last night in Game 1 at Shea Stadium, the Mets took a 1-0 lead in the World Series with an 8-6 win over the Yankees. Jose Reyes homered and drove in 4 runs to lead the way for the Mets. Working in relief of starter Claudio Vargas, Pedro Feliciano allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 inning to earn his 2nd win of the postseason.

The Mets and Pedro Martinez (1-0, 1.50) have their hands full in Game 2 of the series, as the Yankees will start their number-one hurler Chien-Ming Wang (0-0,5.10).

Mets Win Again, Lead Series 2-0!!!!!



Home field advantage helps Mets take 2-0 lead over the Yankees in Fall Classic, as series prepares to shift to Yankee Stadium.

The Mets opened up a 2-0 cushion in the World Series last night after a 4-2 victory against the Yankees in Game 2 of the Fall Classic at Shea Stadium. It was a "quality start" for Pedro Martinez, who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, but it was also a no-decision, as he was long gone when the game was decided. Coming in with the game tied, Pedro Feliciano picked up his 3rd win of the postseason -- in relief of starter Pedro Martinez -- working 1 inning and giving up no runs on 1 hit. Carlos Delgado crushed a big home run -- his only hit in 4 at-bats -- and drove in 2 runs to kick-start the offense.

Game 3 of the World Series is at Yankee Stadium, and the Mets will have their top starter, Johan Santana (1-0, 2.18), going against Andy Pettitte (2-0, 4.97) and the Yankees.

Mets On Verge Of World Series Sweep!!!!!

Johan Santana punched out 11 hitters in picking up his 2nd win of the postseason, allowing 1 run and 9 hits. Endy Chavez was a catalyst on offense, going 2-for-4 with 1 RBI.

Game 4 of the World Series is another road contest for the Mets, who go with John Maine (1-0, 2.07) while the Yankees turn to Phil Hughes (2-0, 1.28).
