    Cubs Mauled by Tigers

Chicago (AP) - Well, what can you say about a game that ends up with a football score? The game ended as a 14-0 win by the Tigers over the Cubs. It didn't start out that way with the first two batter went up and got out in 2 pitches, after that.... Things didn't go quite how Travis Wood wanted. Wood gave up 10 runs in just 2 innings of work! Casey Coleman tried to put out the fire, that didn't go how he wanted either giving up 3 more runs though he spread them out over 3 innings. The Tigers hit 5 home runs and all but Ryan Raburn and Rick Porcello (The pitcher) had at least 1 RBI in the game.

Cubs Corner: Wood is now 0-2....Every position play for the Cubs batted at least once, which is more than Travis Wood....Tony Campana stole his 21st stolen base....The hit by Alfonso Soriano in the 2nd inning was the 1,800th of his career.... The Cubs will now face the Boston Red Sox in the series that adds storylines because of the Theo Epstein.

Cubs lose to Red Sox in sloppy game

Game Recap was lost due to a fire in the press room. As you can see from the box score Paul Maholm was given a rough start due to the fact that the Cubs had.....4 errors. Well here is the box score.

Thanks, I'm just hoping to get off the streak I have been on. Can't seem to close out games that I'm in the lead in or even get a lead in a bunch of other games. Something like 2-8 in my last 10 isn't what I was hoping for.

Dempster allowed just 6 hits over 9 innings and gave up 1 unearned run to the Boston Red Sox. The Cubs who have struggled as of late were backed offensively by Tony Campana who went 3/4 with an RBI, a Triple and 3 stolen bases for the second day in a row. Game 3 will decide the Epstein battle tomorrow.

Cubs Corner: Tony Campana hit his 5th triple while Bryan Lahair hit his 16th double and Darwin Barney hit his 6th....Tony Campana stole 3 bases for the 2nd day in a row giving him 27 on the year....Starlin Castro Stole 2 bases and Alfonso Soriano stole 1.....Bryan LaHair committed 2 errors in the game that provided the Red Sox with the push to score one run....

              Cubs Take Series

Chicago (AP) -Adrian Gonzalez did everything he could to get the Red Sox on top of the Cubs by hitting two solo Homers in his first two at bats but the Cubs and Matt Garza were able to keep things close enough for Starlin Castro, Alfonso Soriano and Darwin Barney to knock in 3 runs to win the game. Player of the Game was Tony Campana who had a heck of a weekend even though he was forced to leave the game with a strained shoulder, he is Day-to-Day.

Cubs Corner: David DeJesus hit his 8th Double while Ian Stewart hit his 18th....Tony Campana hit his 6th triple and stole his 28th base....Matt Garza is now 5-1 and Carlos Marmol picked up his 15th save.....The Cubs will travel to the SouthSide to take on the the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox in the next series.

Cubs Shell South Siders in Game 1

Chicago (AP) - Things didn't go the way Gavin FLoyd planned in the first inning of the game. He started the game by giving up 3 straight base hits and ended up giving up a 3 run bomb to Goevany Soto to give the Cubs a 4-0 lead. That was all Cy Young candidate Jeff Samardzija needed as he was able to shut down the White Sox for the full 7 innings that he pitched.

Cubs Corner: Geovany Soto hit his 11th Home run while David DeJesus hit his 4th.....Tony Campana stayed hot despite his injury with 2 hits and his 29th stolen base of the season....Jeff Samardzija maintains his Cy Young candidacy with his 8th win of the season

Phenom Rizzo recalled from Iowa following injury to Castro.

Chicago (AP) - With the injury to 3 hole hitter Starlin Castro the Cubs needed a new prescence in the middle of their lineup, Bryan Lahair has started to progress but Anthony Rizzo is hittin over .320 in Iowa with homers in his past 3 games. Rizzo is expected to be the everyday 1st baseman while LaHair either is sent to the bench or put into the outfield where it could mean the end for Tony Campana in the starting lineup.

Editors note: Darwin Barney will move to shortstop and Jeff Baker and Adrian Cardenas will assume responsibility for second base. Campana will be sent to the bench until either a trade takes place, someone needs a day off or he is needed as a base runner/defensive replacement. LaHair will play Left Field, Alfonso Soriano to Right (because of better arm strength and Speed than LaHair) and DeJesus will move to Centerfield where he played the majority of his career prior to this year.

The first real injury that we have faced and it couldn't have come at a worse time, the Brewers have won 10 straight and are 0.5 behind us right now. Hopefully Rizzo gives us a spark.
