    MLB HQ- NEW YORK CITY
    Compensation- Part 4

Joe Torre made his way to work on a cool morning. He had stopped to get coffee and had a bite to eat. He was not ready for another day of reading through papers. "Why did I quit managing?" he thought. He walked up to the doors, greeted the security officer then got on the elevator to go his department floor. He took a deep breath and as the doors opened.

When he looked out, it looked like doomsday, people throwing papers every where, people on the phone, people yelling at other people. Joe didn't blink an eye and walked slowly to his office and sat down. He fired up his computer.

Torre began to sweat and got nervous as he approached Buddy's office. He suspected something he did had caused all of this.

Joe Torre gave Selig a death stare and walked out the door. In a strange twist of Irony, Bud Selig caught up in his own Watergate Scandel uttered the famous Nixon line, "I am not a crook!" And with that, Joe Torre was banished from baseball from a short while.

Torre told his secretary to mail everything to his house then left the Headquarters and stood outside in front of the building. And his phone rang.

    [
quote=Unknown] Welcome to the San Diego Padres Mr. Torre. I'm glad to have you on board... [/quote]

And just like that, the Padres had found their Sr. Vice President of Baseball Operations....

The Compensation Scandel would continue for a few days before suddenly, the Twins quit discussing it.

      BREAKING NEWS
      PADRES RESTOCK FRONT OFFICE
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA- The Padres, after losing the vast majority of their front office have gathered a multitude of the game's best personnel. Lets take a quick look at the key members.

      THEO EPSTEIN-General Manager

Epstein was the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox before he departed for the Padres amid the collapse of their dynasty. Epstein has signed for around 10 years but the salary amount has not been disclosed. Epstein was responsible for building the Red Sox World Series and playoff teams of the past 8 years. He made trades such as the deals for Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett. However, the draft is where Epstein has flourished. His ability to draft and develop players has produced such talents as Jacboy Ellsbury, Jonathan Paplebon, Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, Clay Buchholz, Kevin Youkilis and Daniel Bard. Hanley Ramierez gets the honorable mention as he was developed by the Red Sox under Epstein's tenure.

JOHN SCHUERHOLZ- Vice President of Player Development

John was the main reason why the Braves are where they are now. He built the Royals teams of the 80s by drafting and developing players such as, Brett Saberhagen, Kevin Seitzer, Deion "Prime Time" Sanders, Tom "Flash" Gordon, Jeff Conine and one of the greatest Athlete's to ever play the game: Bo Jackson. In his time with the Braves, he drafted players like Jeff Francouer, Jason Heyward, Adam Wainwright, Jarred Saltalamacchia, Brian McCann, Jason Schmidt, Jermaine Dye, Adam LaRoche, and everybody's favorite, the crazy fool John Rocker.

      ART STEWART-Vice President of Scouting

Art was previously a Special Assistant to the GM in Kansas City. He is probably one of the greatest scouts ever in the game. He has a great eye for talent and will be in charge of all Padres scouting efforts in the United States.

J.J. PICOLLO- Special Advisory to the General Manager on Player Development

Often tabbed as a Top General Manager Prospect, J.J. Picollo, was previously responsible for Player Development with the Kansas City Royals. J.J. will now advise Theo on Player Development within the Padres system.

And just like that, the Padres were back in business and all that was left was a new owner and a special assignment scout and George McGovern knew just where to look for both....

Alright, Finally starting my Padres Franchise. I'm using 30 team control to keep trades and free agent signings realistic and I'm using Ignore Budgets to even the playing field. However there will be some budget restrictions.

            Dynasty Rules

Rule #1- We will not tolerate rag tag play from any of our organization.

Rule #2- All players must complete a rehab assignment after coming off the DL. Rehab Assignments will last games if the player is on the 15 day DL and around 15-20 if they are on the 60 day DL.

Rule #3- There will be no innings limit for pitchers once they hit the big leagues.

Rule #4- We will not resign players if they are past the age of 38 unless there is a special circumstance.

Rule #5- We will start all draft picks in Class A for a one year minimum. *Rule does not apply to 1st overall picks.

Rule #6- All players must earn their spot.

Rule #7- We will play small ball.

Rule #8- We will not allow our players or other players to knock our organization.

Rule #9- Development comes first. Winning comes second.

Rule #10- Break any of these rules and we'll ship you to Oakland or Houston.

McGovern and his staff looked over the Rules hanging in his office. These where rules that McGovern believed would shape the Padres into a winner and more importantly hoped to scare his young ball club into winning a World Series for him.

                  Padres Spring Training Complex
                  DAY 1

George McGovern was having a cheerful morning in Peoria. The sun was shining, his golf game was figuring to be sharp and everything seemed to be going according to plan. McGovern walked onto one of the fields to watch a young buck named Byron Buxton hit when all of a sudden, the pitchers caught his eye on an adjacent field. "Hold my hat." he told a bat boy.

NL baseball is a little tricky with all the small ball stuff and no DH plus the Pitcher's park doesn't help my mediocre offense so...

I actually do not have force trades on in my Royals Franchise nor 30 team control. I just proposed tons of combinations until I found ones that worked.

As for Beltran, I will just go ahead and add him to the Padres before I start my Franchise. When I was younger he was one of my favorite players when he played for the Royals and when I was watching him at the All Star stuff it reminded me how much I really liked him.

It just worked itself out. Carlos was a free agent last year so I did a flashback where the Padres signed him instead of the Cards.

wow, thats awesome that you have been able to get all those trades through, then again your absolutely right in the combos part, ive been able to get some pretty rediculous trades to just changing players, sometimes even lower potentials, and i sometimes do the same thing with other players that i like in changing rosters, to each his own i guess, i want to have the most fun, and if that means changing the roster a little so be it, espetially in the scenario you created, i assume your kind of thinking along the same lines,
but yeah this is a great dynasty

The Padres came into today with hope that maybe this was going to be their year but they got clobbered by the Seattle Mariners, a consistent basement dwelling team. I'll admit, they did have pitching prospect Hector Noesi on the mound who was dealing all for the three innings he was in. He's going to be a good pitcher.

The Padres pitching was a big let down. Clayton Richard left fastball after fastball over the plate for the Mariners lineup resulting in 4 earned runs. The bullpen was a big surprise. They pitched well but I did not have a single pitcher clock over 92 and that's going to have to be something that will be fixed. Bullpen guys typically aren't location guys but guys that will pop the glove and destroy hitters.

There was one bright spot however as Carlos Beltran played well in his debut for the Padres. He hit and played the field well and figures to be the starting RF and #3 hitter on a team that lacks offense.

Yonder Alonso, another Padres off season acquisition, disappointed. It was figured that he was going to be a middle of the lineup guy but it looks like he will probably be down in the order at around 7.

Next game, we get to see Joe Weiland against veteran Barry Zito and the Giants. This will be Wieland's first test as he goes head to head with Jason Marquis for the number 5 spot in the rotation
