    lol

thanks for checking in! Yeah, it was a high scoring OT. I found myself sleep walking in the 2nd half...the game should have never gone into OT. When it did, I tried to run them out of the gym, but they kept answering. Glad I was able to eventually pull away.

Dolphins grab # 2 spot in the A-Sun
Written by Rob, JU Dolphins Insider
      March 2010, Issue No. 4

Senior guard Ben Smith hopes to come out on
top in his final Atlantic Sun tournament.

Well boys and girls, it is my favorite time of the year...March Madness! Can you believe that it is here already?! Can you believe that our beloved Jacksonville Dolphins are going into the A-Sun tourney as the # 2 team in the conference?! That's right, with Lipscomb and Belmont (of all teams) choking in their final 2 games, the Jacksonville Dolphins finish # 2 in the Atlantic Sun behind (do I even need to say it) East Tennessee State, who seem to be in the # 1 spot every single year......ok, maybe just the last 3, but you get the picture.

Here are your final Atlantic Sun Conference Standings:

      TeamConference Overall
      ETSU
      10-2
      19-10
      Jacksonville
      7-5
      17-12
      Campbell
      6-6
      20-9
      Lipscomb
      6-6
      19-10
      Mercer
      6-6
      14-15
      Belmont
      6-6
      14-15
      Stetson
      2-10

      8-21

Dolphins set to face in-state rival Stetson in Round 1

The Dolphins will face the Hatters in the first round of the Atlantic Sun tournament. This will not be an easy task. If you remember a few weeks back, two of the most exciting games were played back to back against this Stetson ball club. In the first meeting, the Dolphins came out on top 81-80, but not before erasing a 22 point deficit to do so with just over 7 minutes to play. Their next game was probably one of the most entertaining games of the year. In a game that saw 27 lead changes and 14 ties, JU would come out victorious once again 81-76. I would expect their third meeting to be another tight battle.

The Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Bracket:

      MARCH 4 - ROUND 1

      (#1) ETSU

      BYE

      MARCH 5 -SEMI-FINALS
      ETSU

      Winner of 2

      MARCH 6 - FINALS
      Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament
      Championship Game

      (#4) Lipscomb

      (#5) Mercer

      (#3) Campbell

      (#6) Belmont
      Winner of 3

      Winner of 4

      (#2) JACKSONVILLE

      (#7) Stetson

      Tough Road Ahead

Only one of these teams will be crowned conference champions and have a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. For the Jacksonville Dolphins, the road to get there will not be easy. We have already talked about how tough Stetson will be. In the next round the Dolphins could either face a Campbell team who beat the Dolphins earlier this year and forced overtime against JU in their 2nd meeting.

If not Campbell, then that means the Dolphins will face the only team in the Atlantic Sun who Coach Kevin Roberts has yet to record a victory over......or has even come within 19 points to beating. Belmont will be looking to win their 12th straight game against the Dolphins and will also attempt to knock them out of the tournament for the 3rd straight year (Belmont defeated the Dolphins in the A-Sun championship game the last 2 years).

      GO DOLPHINS!!!

You've done a great job in getting the Dolphins the #2 seed in the Atlantic Sun tournament. Good luck against the Hatters.

I heard from others who have played against ETSU (in the game, not real life) that they have a very tough press. How did it look to you?
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.

          Thanks for checking in don!

Yeah, ETSU runs a tough full court press that they will use to keep the game up-tempo. They will back it off once you break it a couple of times. But yes, their guards are very quick and seem to have great defensive awarness (maybe too good) and they will cause alot of turnovers if you are careless with your passes.

Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)

So I get ready to play my game and I decided to go ahead and simulate the Belmont/Campbell game (just to see who i would play in round 2 if I won). Mind you, the bracket in the game is set up exactly like the one I have posted. So I figure I can simulate all the games before mine since I was in the bottom part of the bracket.

Well, I simulate the Belmont/Campbell game and in the process it simulates my game....It gives me a 78-76 LOSS to Stetson. Of course the stupid AUTOSAVE is on and I can't reverse the process ......so I guess that ends my season. I am pretty upset right now as I feel the whole season and this whole thread is a waste. I don't see anywhere to turn the stupid autosave off.

I went ahead and simulated the rest of the tournament and the NCAA tournament.

            Belmont won the A-Sun tourney

In the NCAA's, the results were better than my results in season 1.....kinda

            Final Four:

            Gonzaga / Arkansas Little Rock

            Davidson/ UNC

            Finals

            Davidson def. Gonzaga

Not bad overall. It was cool to see Stephen Curry win it in his senior year.

Sorry for such a Ho-Hum update....as you can imagine I am upset about my wasted season and AUTOSAVE, and really just not in the mood to do any kind of update.

I am not sure if I will continue a JU dynasty.....I played an exhibition game after simming the tourney (Duke vs North Carolina)....and I had alot of fun playing with a top level school I may decide to start all over with a major program this time.

How the season ended for Jacksonville:

The 2009 season ended with a 78-76 SIMMED loss to Stetson. The game was ACCIDENTALLY SIMMED in an attempt to sim the tournament game before ours. I did not know that stupid EA has it set to up to where you cannot sim individual games, instead it sims the entire round . STUPID EA!

                2009 NCAA National Champions:

                Davidson Wildcats

Stephen Currry's return for his senior season paid off for Davidson as they were able to grab the school's first national championship defeating Gonzaga in the final game.

                Stephen Curry delivers Davidson their
                first National Championship.

                  2010 Season Outlook
Written by Rob, JU Dolphins Insider
                  November 2010, Issue No. 5

With a year under his belt, Sophmore Ben Hinton
should be a force to be reckoned with in the Atlantic
                  Sun.

Will the loss of Ben Smith be too much for
                  the Dolphins to overcome?

With a disappointing end to the 2009 season, the Jacksonville Dolphins will look to bounce back in 2010 and hopefully fulfill some pretty lofty expectations. Although losing Ben Smith, their leading scorer of the last 2 years, the Dolphins are still considered to be one of the top teams in the Atlantic Sun. Sophmore sensation Ben Hinton will look to lead the way now that Smith is gone.

The Dolphins will once again have a very tough non-conference schedule, but 3rd year Head Coach Kevin Roberts believes that their challenging schedule will only help his team get stronger in the long run. Hopefully they will be "strong" enough to win the Atlantic Sun title this year and make it to the NCAA tournament - a feat that has not been accomplished since 1986.

                      Thanks man....

Funny you bumped this up because I was just about to provide another update sometime tonight (finally!).

I just haven't had as much time because I had to move my (real) basketball team's practice time to a later time. Yeah, I actually do coach basketball in real life at an elementary school here in JAX, and we are having our returning players for next year compete in a winter league right now. Since I had to move my practice time to later in the evening, I haven't had time to update as much....but I have still been playing my games (3 games into year 3 right now).

Whenever I have the extra time, I will provide more updates because I am still having a blast with this game (It's the only game I play on my 360.)

                          win season opener

                          high 28 points.

(Jacksonville, FL) -- The Jacksonville Dolphins opened their 2010 basketball season with a 81-74 comback win against the Florida State Seminoles. Ben Hinton would lead the way for the Dolphins scoring 28 points and grabbing 7 rebounds despite being in foul trouble for most of the game.

The Dolphins fell behind early in the game as FSU jumped out to a 28-8 lead midway through the first half. The Dolphins fought back to cut the lead to 7 by halftime and continued to keep it close the rest of the way. JU finally pulled away with a Tevin Galvin 3 pointer that would put the Dolphins ahead by 5 with 33 seconds left to play in the game. It was Galvin's first 3 pointer of the night after missing his first 5 attempts. Travis Cohn would seal the deal with 2 final freethrows after FSU failed to score on their next possession.

Re: Coach K...(Rob11) JU Dolphins (NCAA Basketball 09)

                              Coach K (Rob) calls it quits;
                              will likely take Villanova job

Kevin Roberts failed to lead Jacksonville to the big dance, but is
very optimistic about the Program's future as well as his own.

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Kevin Roberts is expected to hold a press conference today to announce his resignation as Head Coach of the Jacksonville Dolphins and his intentions to take over the head coaching job at Villanova. The decision to leave comes 4 games (3 games not reported in this thread) into what would have been his 3rd season at JU. Roberts released this statement to the media last night:

"This was truly a difficult decision for me, but I believe it is the right decision for me and my family. Whenever you have a chance at greater opportunity, I believe you have to take it. That's what life is all about. Challenge yourself, don't limit yourself...that is what I have always preached to these young men. I have met alot of nice people here and I told the team that they will always be a part of my life and wished them all the best of luck. My door is always open to them."

Roberts' overall record at Jacksonville is less than stellar at 30-27. But despite the unimpressive record, Roberts was loved here in Jacksonville by fans and his players. He also remain's one of the nation's top 'young' recruiters.

Still, the move to Villanova will most certainly raise some eyebrows. At 31 years old, Roberts will become the youngest Head basketball Coach to ever coach at a Big East school. Most JU basketball followers knew, however, that it was only a matter of time before Roberts moved on to a bigger program. Roberts has always liked challenges; moving from the Atlantic Sun to the Big East may be his biggest challenge yet.
