    A New League- The ABF

Hi guys I'm new to Operation Sports but I'm not new to Chising. I have done this chise on other sites before but most of them have gone completely dead and this site looks like it pretty lively in the Franchise section so I decided to come here and post this.

This franchise will follow the American Basketball Federation, which will be in its second season. I will do my best to get you caught up.

    Platform: PS2
    Game: NBA Live 2008
    Season length: 50 games
    qtr length: 11 minutes
    Special rules:
    no backcourt violations
low offensive and defensive fouls (more of a hardcore league)

Basically what i did is take any and every role player in the NBA and put them in an underpaid brutal, up and coming basketball league. Your imagination will be required.

      -League History-

Basketball is one of the worlds largest growing sports. The NBA has dominated the basketball scene for years. In 2005 the NBA started to have issues with sustaining small market teams however, and by 2006 many small market teams had vanished. Teams in Sacramento, Minneapolis, and Milwuakee had folded as the glamour teams in Los Angles, New York and Miami recieved all of the major TV coverage. A group of wealthy bussiness men decided to try an upstart league.

In 2007 the ABF tipped-off its inaugural season, and played a 32 game season, with playoffs. The first season was a smash hit, and with NBA teams struggling to make money players started making the transition to the ABF, and sponsors and TV deals soon followed.

This dynasty will follow the second season of the league and its new stars.

Atlanta Animals 2008 Roster- $12.02 Million Salary

        C- Samuel Dalembert- 2 years/$3.7 Million
PF- Trey Gooden- 6 years/$4.5 Million
        SF- Darius Miles- 4 years/$440k
SG- Damien Wilkins- 4 years/$1.0 Million
        PG- Anthony Johnson- 1 year/$230k
        --------------------------------------------------------------
        PG- Tyron Lue- 2 years/$130k
        SG- Salim Stoudamire- 1 year/$200k
        SF- Andre Brown- 2 years/$100k
        PF- Dave Songaila- 2 years/$320k
        SF- Dan Markato- 1 year/$50k
        PF- Salomon Jones- 1 year/$150k
        C- Sheldon Williams- 4 years/$1.2 Million

Atlanta is comign off of a horrible 7-25 mark in the first season. A total retooling though sees 4 new starters. Rookie Trey Gooden should add offensive play in the paint, while new Center Samual Dalembert will look to lead the teams defense. Darius Miles returns as the only starter after posting a 9-5-5 statline last year. Damien Wilkins comes out east from a trade with Seattle and should add some better play at SG this season. Team leader in assists Speedy Claxton is gone to europe, so that means Anthony Johnson will start at PG in his contract season.

          Charlotte Swarm- $7.13 Million Salary

          C- Chris Wilcox- 4 years/$4.0 Million
          PF- Brian Skinner- 3 years/$400k
          SF- Devean George- 2 years/$350k
          SG- Eddie Jones- 3 years/$400k
          PG- Derek Anderson- 1 year/$250k
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------
          C- Vitaly Potapenko- 3 years/$290k
          SF- Ronnie Brewer- 4 years/$220k
          SG- Shawne Williams- 4 years/$200k
          SG- CJ Miles- 3 years/$200k
          PG- Randy Livingston- 2 years/$170k
          PG- Darrick Martin- 1 year/$150k
          SG- Allan Ray- 1 year/$50k
          SF- Ryan Bowen- 1 year/$50k
          PG- Travis Diener- 1 year/$50k
          C- Dan Gadzuric- 3 years/$350k

Charlotte is an expansion team for the second season, and looks to use its veteran talent to make moves this season. Chris Wilcox will no doubt anchor this team, but Eddie Jones should be a good weapon on offense.
The big question is... Who let Devean George on the team? Wait he's a starter? A pretty weak looking bench could hurt this team, but they may be able to compete with some good breaks.

Chicago Blackout 2008 Roster- $15.4 Million Salary

            C- Dikembe Mutombo- 7 years/$900k
            PF- Joe Smith- 3 years/$900k
SF- Vladimir Radmanovic- 1 year/$1.7 Million
SG- Quinton Richardson- 5 years/$5.0 Million
PG- Chris Duhon- 1 year/$1.0 Million
            ----------------------------------------------------------------------
SF- Derek Wombi- 2 years/$1.0 Million
PG- Jamaal Tinsley- 2 years/$2.0 Million
            SG- Adrian Griffin- 3 years/$280k
PF- Al Tyson- 3 years/$2.2 Million
            SF- Viktor Khryapa- 2 years/$190k
            PF- Paul Millsap- 1 year/$90k
            PG- Kevin Burleson- 3 years/$50k
            PF- Roman Turiaf- 2 years/$90k

Chicago may be one of the most talented teams in the league. Vladimir Radmanovic and Q-Rich held down Chicago offensively last season both averaging 21 PPG. Chris Duhon was good at PG last season, and the 4 and 5 have veteran leadership. The bench is no doubt Chicagos vantage point, with rookies Derek Wombi, who averaged 9.5 RPG in college, and Al Tyson, a offensive 6-8 PF. Jamaal Tinsley is not a bad guy to have coming off the bench.

Cleveland, coming off a loss in the eastern conference championship is returning a stellar group of players that has a mix between youth and veteran talent. Sean Williams, last years rookie of the year, was dominant and his 25-7 average makes Cleveland one of the best inside teams in the league. Add Kwame Brown with a 9-9 average and Donyell Marshall who averages 24 PPG and shoots .530 from downtown, and you have the leagues best frontcourt. David Wesley may be 37, but he still has some fuel left. The big question is PG Daniel Gibson, who didnt even start a game untill the playoffs. Rookie Rick stewart and SF Scott Padgett will be the big players off the bench.

Dallas had a dissapointing year last year, but they have a pretty good looking team this year. Rookie SF Eric Nash should add some offense in plae of last years starter Walter Herrman. Mensah-Bonsu return as the teams leading rebounder. Meanwhile Marcus Vinicius returns at PG after a dissapointing first season.

Denver no doubt looks like a great team this season. After missing out on the playoffs last year by a game. Mike Dunleavy was third in the league last year in scoring with 27 PPG, and Eddie Griffin was a solid inside presence. New additions are rookie D'quan Cook, and rookie Jukada Smith. Charlie Bell will start at PG this season in place of Sasha Pavlovic, which could be an interesting move.

Houston is another expansion team, and looking good. Houston was able to grab defensive player of the year Ricky Davis in free agency, and they also stole Josh Childress. The rest of the team looks pretty solid, with a nice looking bench that includes Ryan Gomes, Marcus Williams, and Mark Blount.

Yet another expansion squad, Los Angeles is looking at a rough season with their current roster. Jeff McKinnis will most likely be the biggest player on this team, though Travis Outlaw could be quite the weapon.

Memphis Could be trouble this year, after posting the best record in the league last year. The problem is they lost Mike Miller, Ricky Davis and Matt Barnes to FA. The good thing is the got Rookie Sharpshooter Anthony Frey from Western Illinois, and picked up Rodney Carney in free agency from Chicago. Memphis has a great bench, but the whole team is short, with just one player over 6'9" (Darko Milicic).

Milwuakee is one of the new teams this year. Milwuakee really has potential this year but, they are ina tough division with Cleveland and Chicago. Mike Miller was dominating on offense last year, posting 25 PPG for Memphis. Rookie seven foot two Center Jake Sundow was a stand out defensive player for FIU in college, and Shareef-Abdur Rahim should add some veteran leadership. Marko Jaric will look to retool his career a bit, while Tim Thomas will hold down the SF spot. The bench looks great, with some good depth.

Minnesota is looking to make an impact in its first season, but its roster is looking bleak. The only real impact player will be Matt Barnes, who joins the club via free agency from Memphis. Robert Swift could be a decent inside presence, but the team will have to pull together to create any real chances at the playoffs.
