Re: A New League- The ABF

    New Jersey Atlantics- $10.58 Million

    C- Jamaal Magloire- 1 year/$1.75 Million
    PF- Bostjan Nachbor- 3 years/$250k
    SF- Joey Graham- 3 years/$990k
SG- Rodney Stuckey- 1 year/$2.5 Million
    PG- Smush Parker- 5 years/$620k
    --------------------------------------------------------------
PG- Stephon Marbury- 1 year/$1.6 Million
SG- Jon St. Louis De Francis- 4 years/$2.0 Million
    PF- Juwan Howard- 1 year/$380k
    SF- Brian Robinson- 5 years/$300k
    C- Jason Collins- 1 year/$190k

This is a stacked team right? Well it wasn't reflected in their last place eastern conference finish last year. Stephon Marbury is most likely on the way out right now, but he was a good weapon off the bench last year averaging 16 PPG. Smush Parker and Rodney Stuckey both get big minutes, and when they are not in, expect Rookie Venezualen Jon Francis to be in. Joey Graham and Bostjon Nachbaor may be the biggest weakness's in the lineup due to their poor defense, though Nachbor can rebound pretty well.

      ----------------------------------------------------------
      PG- Ronald Murray- 2 years/$450k
      SG- Keith Bogans- 1 year/$200k
      SF- Christian Beddiger- 4 years/$310k
      C- David Harrison- 1 year/$100k
      C- Chris Mihm- 1 year/$100k
      PG- Kevin Ollie- 3 years/$290k

Yes, you read it right. Allen Iverson is in the ABF. And maybe, if he can keep his **** together, he could be an impact player. SF James Jones should be a pretty decent man to anchor the Frontcourt, meanwhile Cliff Robinson will play his 20th pro season. On the bench is rookie Christian Beddiger (no, not Chase Buddiger) who will look to make an impact in his play time.

        C- Eddie Baron- 2 years/$300k
        PF- Sean Marks- 4 years/$450k

Phoenix won the leagues inaugural title, now it has 17 other teams to fight against instead of 11. Phoenix is pretty stacked this season, returning all of its starters, all of its bench, and adding rookie 7 footer Jason Smith, who happens to be an offensive beast, fitting right in.
Alando Tucker was the face of this team last season, averaging 25-4-5, and showing everyone that he deserves to be looked at as a legitimate star. Last season started with Pheonix needing to win 12 straight games just to make the playoffs... Last season ended with Alando tucker hitting a shot at the buzzer to win the championship... Can Alando and his dream team add to their legecy?

          Sacramento Royals 2008 Roster-

          C- Spencer Hawes- 6 years/$150k
PF- Raef LaFrentz- 2 years/$3.6 Million
          SF- Gerald Green- 1 year/$800k
SG- Desmond Mason- 2 years/$1.9 Million
PG- Sebastian Telfair- 4 years/$3.2 Million
          ----------------------------------------------------------------
          SG- Quincy Douby- 3 years/$600k
SF- Bruce Bowen- 1 year/$1.0 Million
          PF- Kenny Thomas- 4 years/$350k
          SG- Andre Owens- 1 year/$250k
          PF- Alan Henderson- 2 years/$300k
          PF- Matt Moore- 1 year/$80k
          C- Mouhamed Sear Sene- 3 years/$200k

Sacremento is coming off of a good year as a wild card team, but they return all of their starters, including 20-11 averager Raef LaFrentz, and MVP Candidate Sebastian Telfair, who lead the league in assists. Gerald Green finally pulled together some consistancy and by sharing play time with Bruce Bowen, became a pretty eficient player. Desmond Mason doesn't fit in with the teams half court offense, but he is really their only option at this point.

            PF- Oleksy Pecherov- 1 year/$500k
            SF- Jeff Green- 1 year/$600k

            SF- Micheal Gelabole- 2 years/$200k

Seattle was a really good team last year, and its no surprise they are a favorite to win the west. Kwame Knowles went into last season as a nobody, and ended the season as the marqee name of the ABF. Knowles averaged 28 PPG last season (2nd in league). Steve Francis was good for 19 PPG last year and won the leagues 6th man award. Meanwhile Micheal Olowokandi won the leagues defensive player of the year award, and Oleksy Pecherov developed into a contributor. The bench is so deep, and somehow #1 rookie prospect Joseph Walls fell into the teams lap in the draft. expect big things from Seattle this year.

              C- Rasha Nesterovic- 2 years/$750k
PF- Al Jefferson- 4 years/$4.5 Million
SF- Al Thornton- 5 years/$4.0 Million
SG- Juan Dixon- 4 years/$2.0 Million

              SG- Luke Jackson- 1 year/$200k
              PF- Keith Humphries- 2 year/$50k

Toronto was last years best team in the Eastern Conference and they have gotten better. League MVP Juan Dixon, a 32 PPG averager, will lead this team into battle, but rookie Al Thornton will no doubt ease Dixon's offensive load. Al Jefferson was offensively dissapointing last year, but his 11 RPG, 2 BPG got him acclaim. Royal Ivey won the job as starting PG from Jose Calderon. Thorntons aquisition means that Anthony Parker will now come off the bench and Jose Calderon will now be a bench option.

Washington Bullets 2008 Rosters- $11.535 Million Salary

                C- Theo Ratliff- 1 year/$600k
PF- David West- 1 year/$1.0 Million
SF- Will Conroy- 2 year/$1.3 Million
SG- Nick Young- 1 year/$2.7 Million
                PG- Brevin Knight- 3 years/$960k
                --------------------------------------------------------------
C- Jameel Chadwick- 3 years/$2.4 Million (player and team option for last 2 years)
                PG- Antoine Daniels- 3 years/$800k
SG- Francisco Garcia- 1 year/$1.0 Million
                C- Jake Tsakalidis- 1 year/$300k
                PF- Etan Thomas- 1 year/$400k
                PF- Lawrence Roberts- 1 year/$75k

Washington is set for success this season. Brevin Knight was a great team leader last season, and Nick Young was dominant. Washington runs a 3 guard offense, sothey have no SF, just a PG and two SG's. Will Conroy posted 21 PPG last year. David West has made a promise that he won't make any season ending passes, and rookie center Jameel Chadwick could add some serious swagger to this unit.

                    -ABF Season Preview-
                    By Contributor Mark Saxson

Well Folks another exciting season of ABF is ready to tip off this weekend. All I can say is it is gunna be very interesting, especially with 6 new teams this season.

Last Season saw Phoenix make an inprobable comeback to win 17 of their final 18 games including playoffs to win the championship. We also saw the teams in the western conference dominate the eastern teams.

I forsee a very different season this year, for a few reasons. This season we have a lot more good players coming over from the NBA, and the talent level has gone up dramitically.

                    Lets start with the West...

I think my favorite team in the west this year is Seattle. They have a great lineup, returning all of their starters, and they added a lot of good bench players. Seattle will have to compete with the like of Sacramento, Phoenix and Denver, but when the season is over, Seattle will reighn as the best of the West.

I also like Phoenix. Not only are they the returning champions but they have returned all of their players and added Jason Smith. This team has chemistry, and watching them in the pre-season, they seem to have their act together. Believe it or not, Alando Tucker got better, and he is going to be unstopable this season.

Here is my prediction for the west:

                    Northwest-
                    Seattle Supersonics 40-10
                    Sacramento Royals 32-18
                    Minneapolis Wolves 7-43

                    West Central-
                    Phoenix Attack 36-14
                    Denver Fusion 28-22
                    Los Angeles Buffalo 5-45

                    Southwest-
                    Memphis Pros 39-11
                    Houston/San Diego Missiles 35-15
                    Dallas Mustangs 24-26

                    Now for the East...

The East was the weaker conference last year, but it may have a better year this year. The Central Division looks especially strong with all three teams looking playoff ready.

                    Lets have a look...

                    Central-
                    Milwaukee Marksmen 37-13
                    Cleveland Lightning 30-20
                    Chicago Blackout 20-30

                    Atlantic Coast-
                    Washington Bullets 38-12
                    Atlanta Animals 16-34
                    Philadelphia Phlame 11-39

                    East-
                    Toronto Huskies 32-18
                    New Jersey Atlantics 28-22
                    Charlotte Swarm 8-42

Well guys the season is almost ready to start and im so excited. Before I say anything else... Inb4 Rasha Nesterovic injury. The first season of the ABF was awsome, I watched like all the games that ESPN had, and if you havn't watched it yet, I would suggest tuning in for the games.

My favorite team this year is Seattle, Kwame Knowles is just so clutch, and Steve Francis throws down some sick dunks. I think Seattle is gunna do really good this year.

Well I will get some more blog posts up once the season starts, untill then thanks for reading...

3 Team Trade Goes Down Before Season Start

It was announced this morning that a big 3-team trade went down. It took untill now for official details to be released, heres how it went down...

New Jersey Trades Stephon Marbury and Joey Graham to Denver for Walter Herrmann and Sasha Pavlovic. New Jersey pays Philadelphia $100,000. New Jersey trades Bobby Jackson and 2009 draft pick to Denver for Charlie Bel.

                        New Jersey Trades-
                        Stephon Marbury
                        Joey Graham
                        Gets-
                        Walter Herrmann
                        Sasha Pavlovic

                        Denver Trades-
                        Sasha Pavlovic
                        Walter Herrman
                        Charlie Bell
                        Gets-
                        Stephon Marbury
                        Joey Graham
                        Bobby Jackson
                        2009 draft pick

                        Philadelphia trades-
                        Bobby Jackson
                        2009 draft pick
                        gets-
                        Charlie Bell

This is a pretty big trade, and obviously Denver and New Jersey got some good deals, but it looks like Philadelphia got jipped.

New Jersey filled a big hole by suring up their 3 spot with Walter Herrmann, who averaged 25 PPG last season. They also got rid of Stephon Marbury, who was starting to become a distraction.

Meanwhile Denver got an experienced PG, and unloaded some big contracts, while getting Joey Graham to spell for Dunleavy.

Philadelphia gets Charlie Bell, who looked good this pre season, but they gave up a valuable draft pick.

An Eastern Conference matchup, Chicago and Atlanta should be a high offense game, full of fast breaks and three pointers. Neither of these teams run a half-court offense. Big Players in this contest will be Quinton Richardson for Chicago, and Trey Gooden for Atlanta.

                          Cleveland (0-0) at Milwaukee (0-0)
                          5:30 PM CT
A Division game, this contest may set the tone for the rest of the season. If you like inside the paint, offensive, half court basketball, this game is for you. Look out for Mike Miller for Milwaukee and Sean Williams for Cleveland.

Cleveland Wins Thriller in Season Opener

This game came down to the end in Milwuakee. Milwuakee had a good lead heading into the second half and Cleveland was struggling to play offense, being lead by Donyell Marshall who had 24 first half points keeping them in the game. Thats when things started clicking for Cleveland. Daniel Gibson started hooking up with Sean Williams, one play especially memorable, a crushing alley oop, shifted the momentum in Clevelands favor. Pretty soon the Milwaukee defense started double teaming Williams allowing him to kick it out to a wide open Gibson over and over. "They just killed us with the pick and roll inside, and when we brought help inside, Gibson or Donyell (Marshall) or David (Wesley) were open outside" Said Milwaukee power forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who had a horrible 3 point, 4 rebound performance. Gibson and Williams both had high assist numbers with 9 and 10 respectively. Gibson added 22 points on 8/11 shooting, 5/6 from downtown. The game came down to the final minutes, when down by four Milwaukee got a three from Marko Jaric, with 9.4 seconds on the clock. David Wesley would then sink two free throws with 7.2 seconds left. With no timeouts left Jaric would run the length of the court and put up a desperation three, only to miss poorly off the backboard to seal the Cleveland win.
