        Three Wildcats Win All-Conference Honors

In the wake of the best season in program history, three players were named to All-Conference teams. The two scoring leaders, Chandler Rhoads and Chris Matagrano, were named to the 2nd team All-America East while highly touted freshman point guard Jordan Bronner was named to the freshman All Conference team. With all three returning, Coach Rizzo can only hope these kids continue to grow as players.

        Coach Rizzo Staying

With a surprise trip to the NCAA tournament, some may have thought that AJ Rizzo would have parlayed that into a new coaching gig elsewhere, but he turned down all offers and returned to New Hampshire. Many schools tried to pry him out of the AEC, but all were seen as lateral moves or worse, so he decided to stay.

        Three Transfer in to AEC

Two schools have received transfer requests from student-athletes across the country. These kids are expected to have instant impacts once they suit up for their new schools after sitting out a year. Here's the new faces to the conference:

Mike Marra SG 72 JR Louisville Maine
Ray Cowels SG 69 JR Santa Clara Maine

Momo Jones and Marra transferred? That's surprising - then again I guess their teams didn't have the same success they've had in real life.

Wow. UNC broke my heart in real life and come up short in your legacy as well.

I assumed Harrison Barnes was a one and done?

I was surprised to see that happen, too. It was an all North Carolina national title game. Unfortunately, NC State was the one to come away with the W.

Not sure why Marra transferred, but I know Momo was playing behind Nic Wise and a freshman PG who already declared for the draft. There was plenty of minutes left to be had for Momo's senior season, but he decided he'd rather torture my life along with Marra. Maybe I'll be gone by then, I can only hope.

I was pulling for UNC in the title game as well. Pretty upset to see NC State take it. Many of the freshmen stayed including Barnes, Sullinger, Thompson and many others. Not my rosters, but I like the fact that they stuck around for at least two years. I actually think all those three are returning for their junior seasons.

With everyone back from last season, the additions of big man Tommy Haywood and Bernie Diame have the Wildcat faithful excited for the upcoming season. After a second place finish in the America East season last year along with an AEC tournament title, Coach Rizzo is looking to win the regular season as well as the conference tourney this season.

The question now is will Haywood start over the senior leader in Chris Matagrano? Or does Jerrod Finley make the move to the bench? Or does Coach Rizzo go big and start Haywood, Matagrano and Finley all on the floor at the same time?

If all three big men were to start, it would almost force the Wildcats to sit in a 2-3 zone on defense while focusing on pounding it in the paint on offense. There are some decisions to be made by the coaching staff and it all starts on Day 1.
