On the Road Again, Lafayette Falls to Mississippi State in Non-Conference Finale

    Coach's Corner

"No words can describe the up and down season that we are having. Coming off such a high against Pittsburgh, then we can't get a stop here in the 2nd half. It just is really mind-boggling.
We didn't take care of the ball. We had 10 turnovers to their 5. They made shot after shot after shot. I think we are just tired of playing on the road. This trip as been really tough and we haven't been as successful as we wanted to be.
Their back-court had 57 points combined. Bost made so many big shots and then he was dishing the ball all over the court. Almost had a double-double.
We needed Kreuser to have another big game against a talented big-man in Sidney and that just didn't happen. Wheeler struggled to score and Benbow really couldn't get going. He couldn't even get to the line, which is one of his biggest strengths.
We have to get it going now. We have a few days off and then we start conference play. Should be interesting to see how we can react. Our non-conference schedule was really tough, so hopefully it got us ready for the battles of Patriot League play."

Having a crazy season, beat Pitt pretty solidly and then give that one to Mississippi State. Just crazy

Thanks guys. It was definitely a great win. Almost program building, but then I follow it up and lay an egg. Just frustrating to be so hot and playing well one game and then off the next, but that is what it is like at a smaller program when you are starting. Thanks for following guys.

Thanks. Really liking the format I have right now. Although I am upgrading to a 15" Macbook Pro tomorrow, which will make it easier than using my fiance's dad's old about 2004 Macbook. I am editing the video as we speak so updates on the beginning of the conference slate coming soon.

Conference Slate Begins With Lafayette Blowing a Huge Lead, Losing to Holy Cross

                            Coach's Corner

"This was the start of conference play, yet it was so similar to how the rest of this season has gone. We were up and down and then up and then down. I thought Benbow had won it at the buzzer, but he got the shot off a few tenths of a second late and it wasn't allowed. Really disappointing for our guys.
We had such a big lead in the 1st half I think our guys relaxed. Definitely a tale of two halves. In the 1st half everything was going right. We had a 17 point lead going into the break and I was happy with what we were doing. We were playing with a lot of intensity on the offensive and defensive end. However, after the break we weren't taking things as seriously as we had in the 1st half. Plus we weren't making shots.
They hit a few shots after halftime and then it all went downhill. They finally took the lead with about 4 minutes left and we responded well. We didn't let them run away with it, but then again we couldn't grab control of the game or momentum. Then we have the lead with just a few seconds left and give up that 3-pointer. Our guys were deflated.
We need to get our aggressiveness back. We didn't drive to the basket nearly enough. We only had a few layups and settled for a lot of jump shots in the 2nd half. Just 1 free-throw attempt for the entire game makes it very difficult. You need those easy, free points that can end a draught.
We just need to respond and get back on track for Colgate."

                              Coach's Corner

"We are really close. Close to making a run. I can feel it. We really came out here on the road and performed well. I know it wasn't a great performance and we didn't get the win, but I think we are really close. We didn't rely on one person today and we were in it until the end. Couldn't pull it out.
I think that our team is coming together. In the locker-room there are a lot of guys that are determined to get this season turned around. The focus is great and I think that we are going to get it going.
Difficult shooting night, but we were still in it. Time to move on to Navy."

Leopards Cough Up Another Huge Lead, Hold-on for First Patriot League Win

                                Coach's Corner

"Finally we held on. So many games this year we get a big lead and then give it up. We fight back and then we just can't close the door. Today was different. We had a big lead, but then Navy came storming back. I think their center hit about 4 3-pointers from NBA range. Not sure where that came from. He didn't do that on film, but he did it against us and they were in it at the end. However, we made the plays we needed to make to get the win. So proud of our guys fight.
Like I said last week. We really are coming together as a team and I think that we are going to do much better the rest of the way. The seniors had a moment in the locker-room. They realize their season was slipping away. They wanted more than what they were getting and this is the result. Now we just need to ride this momentum to another win in our next game. I think we have Bucknell at home.
Definitely got a good game from everybody out there today. We were on fire from 3-point range. 12-of-21 is definitely lighting it up. Good road win in conference. We are going to have to steal some of these on the road to make up the game we gave away at home to Holy Cross."
