BRONCOS LOSE 2/3 TO START THE SEASON!!!

    GAME 1

    vs #19

The Broncos would get dominated in the 1st half by the Gaels, as SMC shot 70% from the field led by SR Matt Dellavedova's 20 pts (6-6 FG 4-4 3pt) as SMC took a commanding 46-29 lead.

In the 2nd half Boise State would battle back behind the play of FR AJ Akpan who would score a team high 27 pts but in the end the 17 pt deficit was just to much to overcome.
    FINAL SCORE BSU-72 SMC-80

    KEY PLAYERS

    FR AJ Akpan-27 pts 4 reb 4 asst 4 stls 10/15 FG 4/7 3pt
    SR D. Wiley-14 pts 5 asst 5/18 FG 4/17 3pt
    JR S. Hicks-12 pts 5 reb

    SR M Dellavedova-27 pts 5 asst 9/13 FG 4/5 3pt
    SR P. McCoy-10 pts 8 asst 2/5 3pt
    SR T. Williams-14 pts 5 reb
    FR C. Cleveland-10 pts 5 reb 3 stls 1/3 3pt

    Coach D Comments
"We were dominated on the boards and they shot lights out, when that happens it's hard to win games. I don't think Wiley was forcing his shot to much, because alot of those miss's were shots that rimmed in and out, so that is why I was encouraging him to keep shooting. I was very happy with what AJ Akpan showed us today. He has the potential to be the best player to have ever put on a Bronco Uniform. He did a great job of shutting down Dellavedova in the 2nd half, holding him to just 7 pts"

    GAME 2

    (0-1) VS (1-0)

Again the word Defense would fail to show up in the 1st Half, as EWU took a 45-41 lead as SR K. Winford was on fire score 22 points for the Eagles.

Boise State would keep things close though all game and with a total team effort and with 38 seconds to play were up by 3pts. EWU however would hit a huge 3pt shot by Gl Dean to tie the game with 12 seconds to play and then K. Winford would knock down 2 FT's after a huge turnover by D. Wiley as the Eagles walked away with the win.
    FINAL SCORE BSU-83 EWU-85

    KEY PLAYERS

    FR AJ Akpan-15 pts 7 reb 11 asst 6/12 FG 1/4 3pt
    JR S. Hicks-15 pts 8 reb 6/9 FG
    SO M. Mbaye-13 pts 10 reb
    SR D. Wiley-12 pts 1/4 3pt
    SO A. Diarra-11 pts (Bench)
    SO A. Legee-8 pts 3 reb (Bench)

    SR K. Winford-35 pts 4 asst 11/25 FG 4/9 3pt
    SR G. Dean-9 pts 4 asst 3/4 3pt

    Coach D Comments
"This game reminded me so much of last year, losing close games at the end. It's so frustrating. Give EWU credit they shot the ball well hitting 12/27 from 3pt and they already proved they can beat good teams, beating WSU to open the year. Our Defense was horrid though. I have never seen a team lose when winning the Rebound war as big as we did (37 Rebs vs 18) but our 16 turnovers killed us as well. I felt like we played better as a team getting 5 guys in double digits, have Wiley on the bench with 4 fouls most of the 2nd half and having D. Fields foul out, gave AJ a opportunity to run the point, and he did a great job dishing out double digits assists"

    GAME 3

    (0-2) VS

It doesn't get any bigger then this for Coach Leon Rice. Coaching his 1st game as a Head Coach against the team he was orginally slated to take over in the 2011 season. Rice helped Coach Mark Few build the Gonzaga Bulldogs into a Mid-Major powerhouse and was the top choice for the Broncos job, but instead he turned it down, and Coach Derozan was give the chance. So far its been good for the Broncos as Coach D has produced back to back NCAA appearences and 20+ win season's.

Boise State would dominate the 1st half taking a 55-33 lead as the Bengals just couldn't compete with the size of the Broncos Big 3 (Hicks/Mbaye/Diarra)
and chants could be heard across Taco Bell Arena "We Want Tacos" in the final minutes as BSU hit triple digits on the scoreboard in teh blowout win.

    FINAL SCORE BSU-100 ISU-66

    KEY PLAYERS

    S. Hicks-18 pts 11 reb
    M. Mbaye-18 pts 10 reb
    A. Diarra-15 pts 7 reb (Bench)
    A. Legee-13 pts 7 reb (Bench)
    B. Sparks-10 pts 2/2 3pt (Bench)
    AJ Akpan-8 pts 6 reb 8 asst 3/7 FG 0/3 3pt
    D. Wiley-8 pts 2/3 3pt (Left game with a injury)

Walkon SR R. Wilkerson had 14 pts 10 reb off the bench
JR PG C. Moore had 10 pts 2/3 3pt to lead the starters

    COACH D COMMENTS

"I felt like the bigmen stepped up and dominated. I think when you have a size advantage like we did today you have to exploit it. Especially when Wiley when down with the ankle injury (listed Day to Day for the next 14 days). I felt like AJ played a good game again, getting the ball inside and to have 2 guys finish with a Double Double is great. We killed them once again on the boards (48 to 26), but again I wasn't happy with our 16 turnovers. I was also happy to see A. Legee finally have a good game off the bench in the 6th man role. I hope he can produce 10/5 type #'s from that spot and keep the pressure off Diarra from being the only guy off the bench producing. Having Wiley out, helped B. Sparks show he deserves more PT as well."

**UP NEXT REMATCH AGAINST (2-0) OREGON.

        BRONCOS STRUGGLES CONTINUE

        (1-2) @ (2-0)

The Broncos would lead by as much as 15 points in the 1st half with less then 2 minutes to play, but a late run (6-0) by the Ducks behind the homecrowd inside "The PIT" found BSU up just 39-30 going into the half.
AJ Akpan was named Player of the Half, after the Freshman scored 13 pts on 5/8 shooting.

In the 2nd half the Broncos couldn't hit a broadside of a barn, as BSU shot just 3/16 from downtown, and Oregon would battle their way back to take a 8pt lead with less then a minute to play. The Broncos would pull within 3pts with 18 seconds to play, but PG D. Fields drive to the lane would slide off the left of the rim and into the hands of a Oregon Defender. Forced to foul, Oregon would go a perfect 6/6 in the final 15 seconds as the Broncos fall once again in the final minutes.

        COMMENTS BY COACH D

AJ played great, Wiley didn't, Mbaye has ben a roller coaster, and we still are not getting enough production from our bench. Our 3pt shooting his horrid, and our inability to play Defense will keep us from winning games all year. Do you want me to continue???

          TEAM REPORT

          SR D. WILEY'S SHOOTING
Last year Wiley showed the nation he could hit the 3pt shot, hitting 96 of them in fact at a 41% rate. However this year through 4 games the Senior has connected on just 8/22 (22%) well Avg 10.3 PPG.

          SOPHOMORE STRUGGLES
Soph Marcus Mbaye showed everyone why he was voted the Mr BB from Montana last season winning the WAC FOY Avg 13.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG and 1.4 BPG. However this season has been somewhat of a roller coaster for Mbaye
          SMC-4 pts 4 reb
          EWU-13 pts 10 reb
          ISU-18 pts 10 reb
          Oregon-4 pts 5 reb
Coach D comments "I don't know why Mbaye is stuggling so much against better opponents and playing great against lesser. He was solid year round last year and in fact normally excelled against better teams??"

          JR S. HICKS REMAINS SOLID

PF Sam Hicks has been Coach Derozan go to guy. The JR won the WAC FOY 2 years ago Avg 12.4 PPG and 7.2 RPG, then followed it up with a Soph campaign in which he lead the Broncos in scoring 15.4 PPG 7.2 RPG well being named to the 1st Team-All-WAC. Now the JR through 4 games is Avg 14.3 PPG and 8.3 RPG.

          FIELDS/AKPAN/LEGEE EXCELLING IN CURRENT ROLES

When AJ Akpan announced he was coming to Boise State, everyone knew he would be the best player on the court for the Broncos. So far he has lived up to that hype through the first 4 games, Avging 19.3 PPG (1st), 5.0 RPG (3rd), 6.3 APG (1st), 1.3 SPG (1st) well shooting 58% FG and 7/20 3pt (35%)

SO PG D. Fields started 10 games last season as a true freshman giving Coach D confidence that he could run the point with the graduation of Trey Nichols. So far he has proven himself once again raising his PPG and APG over last years #'s. through the first 4 games.
          Last year-2.2 PPG 1.6 APG
          This year-4.3 PPG 4.8 APG

SO SF A. Legee started 34 games as a True Freshman, but with the signing of AJ Akpan, Legee was forced to the bench, where Coach D hoped he would become a 6th man star. So far he hasn't produced star #'s through 4 games, but he has come close to hitting the type of #'s he put up well in the starting lineup last season.
          Last year-7.1 PPG 5.4 RPG
          This year-7.0 PPG 3.3 RPG

          WHERE IS THE LOVE?

Last year SO SF Prosper Fullove became a fan favorite with his hustle and workman like attitude, avg 10 MPG and 3.1 PPG. However this year his #'s have dropped, Avg just 7 MPG so far.. Fan's want to know why??

SO PG/SG B. Sparks has so far proven he too needs more minutes. Last year the FR Avg just under 7 minutes a game well Avg 2.4 PPG. This season he is up to almost 8 mins a game but has increased his scoring Avg to 4.8 PPG well hitting 3/6 3pt attempts.

COACH DEROZAN HAS OFFERED 3 OUT OF 4 SCHOLARSHIPS

Last year Coach Derozan had 3 scholarships to offer, but after Kyle Thomas picked BYU and PG R. Sullivan picked WSU, Coach D instead held onto his scholarship in hoping to land a bigtime class this year. So far he has focused on 3 players offering early and has his sights set on several bigmen to fill the 4th spot.
          OFFERED

          4* 6'5 SF Timon Cummings (Ranked #67 Overall/#13 SF)
"The Mr BB from Boise Idaho"
"Currently has BSU tied (84%) with BYU but the Cougars have not offered a scholarship. If Cummings doesn't sign this will be 3rd straight year that the Mr BB from Idaho has spurned the Broncos (2011-3* PG LL. Washburn signed with Utah Valley State (now a 68 Overall), and 2012-4* Kyle Thomas signed with BYU) Gonzaga and Washington are still following as well at #3 and #4 but neither are offering as well.
          3* 6'3 SG Cedric Dumont (Ranked #105 Overall/#31 SG)
"The Mr BB from Portland Oregon"

Dumont currently has BSU #1 on his board (89%), but Oregon State is a close 2nd even though the Beavers have yet to offer a scholarship. Utah State, Washington and Gonzaga are all still in the picture as well.

          3* 6'10 C Ellis Almond (Ranked #146 Overall/#11 C)
          "From Seattle WA"

Boise State was quick to offer Almond a scholarship and because of it the Broncos moved up quickly on his board to #4(86%). But Oregon State has a pretty big lead in the #1 spot, followed by Oregon and Washington, well Gonzaga is right on BSU heels at #5.

          OTHERS TO CONSIDER

          6'10 E. Wingate (#196 Overall/#17 C)-Seattle WA
"Currently 62% and #2 behind Portland. Idaho and EWU are #3/#4"

          6'10 B. Falls (#195 Overall/#16 C)-Hillsboro OR
"Currently 59% and #5 on his board behind Washington,Gonzaga,Oregon and Oregon State"

He was on fire in the 1st half, but I shut him down in the 2nd half. To bad I couldn't make the comeback though. Not sure I am a big fan of you cheering on SMC to beat me

                      RECRUITING PREVIEW

Good Evening and Welcome to another edition of ESPN "The Ocho" I am your host Bryan Scott. Tonight's show we will focus in on some Future Phenoms of College Basketball.

Tonight we will focus in on 13 players around the nation, who will look to make a huge impact on College Basketball next season. Now the only question is what team will they be helping. The 2013 Recruiting Class could be called the "Year of the Shooter" as 10 of our Future Phenoms (Boardmember recruits) are either a PG or SG. But don't worry we are not completely void of bigman as this year's focus group includes 2-7 footers as well as 6'7 SF Agustin Aboy orginally from Argentina South America, Aboy has now found a home in Carbondale Illinois and he is this year's #1 Player.

6'7 Agustin Aboy- Carbondale IL (CDelfino10)
                      All-American Mr BB IL-Ranked #1 Overall and #1 SF"

2k Scouts Comments-This kid is a pure scorer who can go inside and created 2nd chance opportunties off the boards. His lack of Defensive skills and stupid fouls are the only reason why this kid didn't just go straight to the Pro's.

Next up we have the #2 Player in the Country and the #1 SG, 6'6 Floyd McKnight. Orginally from Ontario Canada, McKnight moved to Los Angeles so he could show off his skills to the bigger schools in local ABL tourneys.

6'6 SG Floyd McKnight- Los Angeles CA (Undead)
                      All-American Ranked #2 Overall/#2 SG

2k Scouts comments-"This kid can light it up, so coaches love him, but once he has the ball he has only 1 focus and that is putting the rock in the hole, so if you are his teammate don't dream about getting the ball back because it an't going to happen"

2k Scouts Comments-Even though Johnson has the size to play the point, like Aboy and McKnight, Johnson is more of a pure shooter and scorer, but being forced to play the point this year has helped improve his passing and defense making him a great all-around player

PG 5'11 Tyrell Coley- Queens NY (Knickerbocker91)
AA Mr BB NY-Ranked #6 Overall

2k Scouts comments-Has probably the best court vision we have seen since John Stockton. His size hurts hime on Defense as he is generally giving up 2-4 inches on most of his opponents.

2k Scouts Comments-This guy reminds me of last year's Future Phenom Adrian Marvell. He has a sweet jumper that he can fire from anywhere on the court.

                      AA Ranked #17 Overall/#5 PG

2k Scouts Comments-Frizzell like Johnson is more suited to play SG because of his excellent 3pt shot 43% and 15.8 PPG in ABL, but his 3.8 APG in ABL shows he can dish the rock as well.

                      AA-Ranked #22 Overall/#9 PG

Scouts Comments-Estepp is a Athletic Shooter who has the size and skills to play either guard spot. Orginally only 5'11, Estepp grew 5 inches over the summer of his Senior year, so his strength is still catching up to his new found height, thus why he might be better suited to play the point

2k Scouts Comments-Sizemore is very similar to Frizzell, and Johnson. A smaller 2 guard who can light it up from downtown. He is also a very good defensive player and even for his size can get in and produce rebounds (Avg 7 RPG in ABL)

2k Scouts Comments-Richardson, Sizemore,Frizzell,Johnson,Coley could all be identicial twins if they were the same size and skin coler. Like the previously mentioned players, this kid can shoot and pass with the best of them

2k Scouts Comments-See above comments on Mike Richardson/Frizzell/ect... when it comes to scoring. Wheeler either doesn't know the defintion of Defense, or just doesn't care to play any.

2k Scouts Comments-Johnson was only 6'8 as a SO, 6'10 as a JR, and now 7'0 as a SR. Now if he could only figure out away to add some pounds to his 215 lb frame. He tremdous rebounder this kid loves to throw down the dunks on Offense and throw the ball back in your face on D.

2k Scouts Comments-Wells is a pure shooting Lefty, who like Aaron Wheeler lacks any ability to play Defense, but he does have good passing abilities thus he can play the point if needed.

2k Scouts Comments-This kid would be the #1 player in the country if he was a better scorer. He Avg 10.3 PPG and 10.1 RPG in ALB. Needs to work on his shooting especially from the Free throw line. Some say he reminds them of a young Shaq from his days at LSU.

Well I don't even want to think about the # of hours and games I have logged over the past 2 years playing this game. For awhile nothing else even entered my 360.. I played it non-stop for a year almost.

It just takes time to get use to players shots and finding sliders that work for you. I don't mind losing as long as the game is close, (As you can see from my past 2 seasons losing games over and over in the final minutes).

Glad you enjoy the thread. If you want make a player for next season. I have a thread on here specifically for putting your players info on it, so it's easy for me to find when I go to create the players.
