      Re: Four Team Legacy (CH2K8)

Bucknell and UNC are on complete opposite streaks, pretty interesting that you have a couple .500 teams, one that is on fire and one that can't catch a break.

Good luck trying to get them all into the tournament.

Stephen Tyree of Bucknell shoots against Max Craig
          of Columbia

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Stephen Tyree scored 17 points off the bench to lead Bucknell to a 86-60 victory over Columbia on Saturday night.

Bryson Johnson added 14 points as the Bison (10-0) defeated Columbia (4-4) for the first time since 2002 and extended their winning streak to ten games.

Boon scored 12 points and Shazier added 10. Mike Muscala was held to 10 points, he spent most of the first half on the bench with three early fouls.

"We have guys stepping up and we had guys making shots," Muscala said. "It's not just me, it's a team thing. That's something we've been trying to work on throughout this whole year, just getting everyone on the same page, and we've done a good job of that."

Bucknell led throughout the game and shot 66.6 percent from the field (34 for 51) and 54.5 percent from 3-point range (12 for 22).

While Bucknell's offense clicked, Columbia's sputtered.

Columbia shot 45.2 percent from the field (24 for 53) and only hit five 3-point shots for the game.

"I thought we did a good job in the first half of just not letting them shoot 3s," Paulsen said. "Our guards did a very good job of guarding them and sticking with them."

"Too many mistakes, too many ill-advised shots," Columbia's head coach Kyle Smith added.

Brian Barbour finished with 16 points and nine assists, Noruwa Agho added 12 points, and Steve Frankoski scored 10 for Columbia.

The Bison are home again Wednesday night against Boston University at 7 p.m.

G.W. Boon of Bucknell shoots over D.J. Irving of BU

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Pushing for their first Top 20 ranking ever, the Bucknell Bison showed how good they can be if they play hard like they did in the second half of tonight's game.

G.W. Boon had 30 points off the bench, and keyed a 15-0 run at the beginning of the second half that carried the undefeated Bison (No. 21 AP, No. 18 ESPN/USA Today) to a 85-75 victory over Boston University on Wednesday night.

The Bison improved to 11-0 for the first time in school history. Their winning streak is currently the best in country, and they are one of six undefeated teams left.

"I do think that in my 3-plus years here, that was probably the best half we've played on both ends of the floor, against a good team," coach Dave Paulsen said of his Bison, who outscored the Terriers 46-34 in the second half. "And we were really good defensively. We made a very good Boston University team look not so good today. That one is on us. That was a good team we played tonight."

The Bison tied the game at 52-52 after G.W. Boon hit fourth of his eight 3-pointers and then hit two more to put Bucknell ahead for good.

Bryan Cohen added 14 points and Darryl Shazier finished with 10 for the Bison, who shot 54.3 percent (31-for-57) from the floor for the game.

John Holland and Patrick Hazel scored 14 points apiece and Darryl Partin added 12 for Boston University (7-2), which made 45.6 percent (26-for-57) of its field goal attempts.

The Bison resume play on Dec. 17 at La Salle at 7 p.m.

                              Recruiting Update

Senior forward commits to Northern Colorado
6-foot-6 Class of 2011 small forward Shawne King ended his recruitment on Wednesday when he committed to Northern Colorado, according to rivals.com.

"It's a great fit, a really good school and program," King's high school coach Tom Banks said. "He visited and he fell in love with the place and the coaches. At that level he'll have a great career."

                              Strengths:
King is one of the top shooters in Colorado regardless of class. He has range on his jumper to 22 feet. He has a solid, quick release and elevates nicely. He is very good coming off screens or catching and shooting off penetration.

                              Weaknesses:
King needs to work on the other aspects of his game. He needs to improve his ability to create his own shot but he does have one skill everyone needs...shooting. He is ok as a rebounder and needs to improve his intensity on defense.

                              Bottom Line:
His ability to score is exceptional, King just needs to continue to tone his skills in order to become a complete player.

                              Notes:
Averaged 14.3 PPG in ABL with Flow and hit 60.7 percent (17 of 28) from 3-point range.

                              Barry Kaman picks Bucknell
6-foot-5 Class of 2011 small forward Barry Kaman committed to Bucknell earlier this week, according to ESPN.

He visited the Bucknell campus in November.

"Bucknell, it's so classic," he told the paper. "I really liked the campus feel, the facilities, the coaching staff. They made us feel like we'd been there for a year already. I liked the players. I got to sit down with a couple of the players.

"I'm not looking for just the next four years, but I'm looking ahead to the rest of my life too."

                              Strengths:
A long, lefty athlete that can stroke it. His length causes opponents nightmares with his ball pressure, deflections, and shot blocking ability. He can guard multiple positions. He can score off the bounce in transition but is more of a knock down, catch and shoot guy from 3. Kaman is a "can't leave" shooter.

                              Weaknesses:
Kaman has "cut strength" right now but needs to add some muscle to his frame so he can take that bump and finish.

                              Bottom Line:
He can handle it well being 6'5. He can score in a variety of ways and uses his 3 pt. weapon in using a shot fake one dribble pull up. Barry is also an outstanding rebounder for the 2-3 position and will be a great get at the mid-major level.

                              Notes:
Kaman averaged 12.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 steals for Mint Touch in ABL.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Ray Jones Jr. scored 22 points, including eight in overtime, to lead Southern Utah to a 80-74 win over IPFW on Thursday night.
