LIVING AND DYING BY THE THREE

1-2-12 - West Point, NY: Both Brown and Army must have decided before the game that it would be a 3 point shootout. Combined, the teams shot 56 3 pointers which was 55% of the shots taken today.

"Whenever we face a zone, all the guys automatically settle for shots instead of trying to attack the heart of the zone. Luckily for us, Army also chucked up a bunch of 3s" said Rogers.

The game was very close for almost the whole game. At halftime, it was tied at 27 and with 4:41 to go, Brown was up 49-41.

"There was a timeout with about 5 minutes to go and I looked at my guys and said: If we can win this next minute and a half, we will win this game" explained Rogers," Obviously Tucker Halpern heard me."

Army came out of the timeout and hit a shot to cut the game to 6. But that is when Tucker came down and hit 3 straight 3s.

"I don't know what got into me, but I just felt like it was my time to take over" said Halpern, "I had only two points all game and I felt like I wasn't doing my part."

After that, Andrew McCarthy even hit a 3; it was his first of the year.

In the last 5 minutes of the game, Brown went on a 21-4 run, hitting 7 3 pointers. Brown was 3-18 from 3 when they caught fire and hit 9 of their last 16 3 pointers.

Man, no reference to the Defense!? They dominated with only allowing 18 points in the second!

Haha sorry about that I guess I was just too mad that my guys kept chucking up 3s! Also, Army only has two legitimate scorers (Simmons and Ellis) and one of them was hurt so it wasn't difficult for us to stop them. And thanks!

                    OHIO ST:
Aaron Craft, starting point guard, is out and averaged 9.4 ppg and 4.1 apg.
Jared Sullinger is 2nd in the Big Ten in ppg (19.7) and 3rd in NCAA in rebounding (8.6)

                    BROWN:
The Bears shot 34 3 pointers last game. Look for them to tone it down on the 3s.

SULLINGER, BUFORD ARE TOO MUCH FOR BEARS

1-4-12 - Columbus, OH: Jared Sullinger came into the game 2nd in Big 10 play in scoring (19.5) and William Buford was 6th in the Big 10 in scoring (15.5). Combined they scored 37 points and Shannon Scott, who has his first start of his career, had a career high 13 assists.

"If there was any chance of winning, we had to contain Sullinger and Buford and to force other players to step up" said Rogers, "Unfortunately, we didn't stop either of them."

One of the ways Colby Rogers tried to stop William Buford was by starting Tyler Ponticelli (Jr) instead of Christian Gore (Fr).

"I decided to start Tyler only because he is a better defender" Rogers explained, "It has nothing to do with Christian's effort, but I felt the best way to stop Buford in the beginning of the game was to have Tyler on him. As coaches, when forming our gameplan, we wanted to make it a point to keep the game close early. We could not let the game get out of hand in the first few minutes and we did an OK job at that today."

Also in the last two losses to Ohio St. and Notre Dame, Brown has only averaged 10.5 assists per game, whereas on the season they average 18.8. This is definitely an indicator that Brown's offense has been struggling a bit as of late and lets hope they can turn it around by conference play.

How would you feel if you matched up against Vandy in a 1-16 or 2-15 game coach? We know where your loyalty resides

I would feel like I would have no chance. Festus Ezeli would score at will and we would not be able to contain both Taylor AND Jenkins.. But if I somehow matched up against them I would do my ultimate best to pull off the upset. Coach Rogers is a Bear

                                BATTLE OF THE BEARS

1-8-2012 - Waco, TX: After getting blown out by #1 Ohio State, Brown looked to play a strong game going into conference play against Baylor. That didn't happen.

"This was a terrible game for us" said Rogers, "We had 19 turnovers, and Baylor shot 33 free throws. That is an indicator that we did not prepare well for this game at all."

The only bright spots for Brown tonight was they tied Baylor in rebounding and Junior big man, Andrew McCarthy shot a perfect 7-7 from the field.

"I felt that the team was lacking in intensity today and I felt as an upperclassman, I needed to step up" said McCarthy, "I struggled on the defensive end though so I'm not content with my performance."

This was the last non-conference game for Brown and will play Yale in 11 days.

"We have back-to-back games with Yale coming up, so we are preparing for those games" said Rogers, "We are really going to go hard on the recruiting trail the next couple of weeks and hopefully narrow down who we may want on our team."
