    Re: 30 Team Interactive Association

would anyone be so kind to post the scouting portion of the primer on here or PM me, I for some reason never got all the pages to the primer I am missing the scouting portion, possibly the more of the managing you team portion (mine ends after the Coon salary cap part) Tarantism has already provided the progression part, and I need the final section NBA Calendar portion. Would be greatly appreciated if someone could hook me up with that info.

          Is this what you wanted?

          5. Scouting Players

There are two types of player scouting in our association: pro and amateur scouting. Each manager will have access to a total of 10 scouts, who can each be assigned to either scouting NBA players, Euroleague players or NCAA players. In all cases, a scout is assigned to an assignment by notifying me through private message. In your notice, tell me who you would like to scout and for how many days you would like to scout them, with a minimum of three days per assignment. Here are the benefits to scouting each:

          Scouting NBA Players:

Because you will not have access to player ratings, the biggest benefit to scouting NBA players is to gain information on the abilities of different NBA players. This can be utilized to gain a more comprehensive knowledge on players who you might be looking to acquire via trade or the upcoming offseason free agency period. Another way to use the NBA scouting option is to keep an eye on non-guaranteed Summer League and Training Camp players who are owned by other teams. By scouting these non-guaranteed players you can stay updated on their stats and get insight on their abilities before you add them to your roster on a guaranteed contract.

          Scouting Euroleague and NCAA prospects:

During the NBA regular season, you are allowed to assign any number of scouts to amateur players. Scouting amateur players allows you to gain access to game-by-game player statistics as well as insight to that players strengths, weaknesses and even NBA comparisons. Any specific information that you would like about a player should be included in your message to me. Please note that any time you send a scout to Europe he must be there for a minimum of 10 days. However, you may assign that scout to take a look at multiple prospects during his trip.

          Player Workouts:

It is possible to bring players in for individual workouts with the interest of getting more information about the player than you might already possess. To do this, simply message me with an invitation for the player and, based on the individual player interests, I will decide if he will accept.

The designated time for amateur players to work out will be announced by the league, with the draft taking place 72 hours after this period begins. Unrestricted free agents may be invited to a workout at any point during the regular season but there can be no workouts during the playoffs as all rosters are frozen during this time. There may be no workouts between the time when the playoffs start up until 5 days before free agency officially opens (during the moratorium). At this time both restricted and unrestricted free agents may be issued workout invitations.

          6. Progression

In a vast majority of cases, I will simply let 2k's progression system do it's thing (mostly because it is impossible to turn it off). However, there are two exceptions to this: young players and older veterans.

In the case of younger players (here classified as being 27 or under), players have a chance to make a noticeable jump OR decline in rating during training camp. For every single NBA roster (including the D-League and free agent pool) each player 27 or under will be assigned a probability to being eligible for ratings adjustment. I don't want to get into too much detail but basically if a player is selected to receive ratings adjustment then I will randomly determine how many ratings be affected (with a limit, of course). Which ratings those are will be weighted by what play style that player has. I will then randomly determine how many points each of these ratings will go up (once again, capped of course).

Managers will receive reports from their assistant coaches on which players seemed to progress and regress (and in what area), as well as which players stood out because of above or below anticipated performance. You will not, however, get specific details on what ratings I have increased or decreased. Please note that a player cannot both receive bonuses to ratings AND also suffer penalties during the same offseason.

Another important note: At the beginning for Summer League a manager may designate up to 3 players that they would like to "protect" during the progression period. Once a player has been protected, he is no longer eligible for improvements to ratings. However, this player will also be immune to any randomly selected ratings decreases

Conversely, older veterans (here classified as being 33 or older) may be subject to suffering a ratings decrease at the end of the season. Unlike younger players, older veterans have passed their prime and therefore are no longer eligible for ratings improvements. In addition, older veterans only suffer penalties to physical ratings, such as speed, vertical and quickness, with the decreased amounts having a cap on how far they can drop just like the rookie ratings.

Also unlike rookies, it is impossible to protect veteran players from regression.

During training camp NBA 2k12 allows you to send different players on your roster to specific camps that allow them to work on skills which you would like to see improved. Once I open up training camps league wide, all managers will have the opportunity to submit the names of the players that they would like to send to these camps, as well as what camp they would like the aforementioned player to attend.

          7. The NBA Calendar

From the moment that the league year starts, every event will work on a certain schedule called the NBA Calendar. Some things, such as regular season games and the all-star break, will be dictated by the calendar found within association mode. Other events, such as the July moratorium and the NBA draft, will take place in real time. The timetable for each of these events will is dictated below:

The NBA Draft Lottery: This will be dictated by when it comes up in the game, with the results being posted in the thread upon completion. This is also the time that any pick protections will be sorted out and all picks will be officially transferred if they have met the requirements to be traded. For example, this year the Warriors had to trade their first round pick to the Jazz UNLESS it landed in the top 7 of the NBA draft. During the lottery, the pick ended up being the 7th pick, and therefore the Warriors were allowed to keep it. If it had landed at 8 or below then the pick would have been transferred to the Utah Jazz.

The NBA Draft: The draft will be conducted in real time. When the time comes for the draft during the offseason, a period of 72 hours will open up where teams may invite draft-eligible players for workouts. At the end of the 72 hours the picks may begin. It is also at this time that trades may be submitted for league approval (with that window officially closing 24 hours after the last pick has been made).

From the moment that the NBA draft begins, each player will have 12 hours to make their pick. This time table will last for the entirety of the first round, with the pick clock decreasing to 6 hours per pick in the second round.

July Moratorium: The moratorium will be a 5 day period that begins 24 hours after the last pick of the NBA draft. During this time teams may negotiate with players, invite free agents for workouts or discuss trades with rival GMs. However, while it is allowed to agree to a deal in principal with a team or free agent, none of these deals can be made official until the moment the the moratorium is lifted at the end of the 5 days.

Summer League: The NBA summer league is 5 games per team, with all 30 teams having the opportunity to participate. Prior to the beginning of Summer League, I will issue a notice that each manager will have 48 hours to submit their summer league roster to me. At this time I will input the roster into the game and begin simulating/playing the games and updating the thread with stats and results.

Training Camp: Training camps will officially open up at the end of summer league. They will last as long as it takes me to get each manager their report (detailed in the progression section of this primer).

Preseason: The preseason schedule will be announced as soon as all training camp reports have been issued. I will be updating the thread with stats, results and any other applicable information throughout the preseason so that managers can keep track of their players during this time. Once the final preseason game has been played an announcement will be made league-wide that every manager will have 48 hours to submit the names of the players that they would like the cut in order to get down the regular season roster maximum of 15 players (12 active and 3 inactive). Once this 48 hour period has ended, the regular season will begin.

The Trading Deadline: The actual date of the trading deadline is classified as the 16 Thursday of the NBA season. When that date comes up in-game, I will make an announcement that managers will have 72 hours to submit trades to the league for approval. At the end of this 72 hour period, the trade deadline will pass and trades cannot be officially submitted until the moratorium lifts in July.

10 Day Contracts: For the purposes of this association, 10 day contracts will actually be designated "3 game contracts". These short-term contracts may be signed from the moment that the trading deadline passes until the last day of the season. Here is what Larry Coon has to say about 10 day contracts:

A 10-day contract is just that, a player contract which lasts ten days (or three games, whichever comes later). Teams may sign players to 10-day contracts starting January 51 each season. Teams cannot sign players to 10-day contracts that would extend past their last regular season game. In other words, after their 80th game (64th in 2011-12) or after the 10th day before their last regular season game (whichever comes first) teams can no longer sign 10-day contracts.
A team may sign a single player to two 10-day contracts in one season (they may or may not be consecutive). After the second 10-day contract, the team can only retain the player by signing him for the remainder of the season. A team can't have more 10-day contracts than they have players on their Inactive List.

Good choice, they should be a fun, fun team considering that they just traded for Rudy Gay. I am very excited about the Bobcats right now.
