Conway, AR - The Central Arkansas Bears closed out their opening home-stand this week with yet another disappointing loss. The home crowd booed their team off the court at the end of the game as Texas State beat their home team 58-53.

The game was not just lost from poor shooting from the field, but a very poor performance from the charity stripe. Central Arkansas earned numerous free throws in the second half alone, only to see that majority of them clang off the rim.

Even though Mark Ruthledge was able to drop 14 points and grab six boards, he was still not fully himself as he shot 5-19 from the field.

His counterpart, Corey Stern of Texas State, had an more forgettable night. Stern finished with five points on 2-18 shooting.

This game was once again dominated by the big men of the opposition. Dante Bachus (13 points) and Luke Mergerson (11 points, 12 rebounds) dominated down low and earned the victory for Texas State.

San Antonio, TX - Central Arkansas needed this trip away from home to grab their first Southland Conference win. They did so against struggling Texas-San Antonio by the score of 69-62.

It wasn't the prettiest of wins, but Mark Ruthledge found his scoring groove with a game-high 22 points on 8-22 shooting.

Anthony Borden added 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Jarvis Garner was impressive with 12 points, well above his season average of 6.4 ppg.

Melvin Johnson had a tough game but was helped out by the charity stripe en route to 15 points, 11 of which were from the line. That seemed to be the story for Texas-San Antonio. Nothing they shot was falling besides free throws.

Central Arkansas are now off to Texas A&M Corpus Christi (7-8, 1-1) as they look to extend this into a winning streak. This will be a tough trip with Texas A&M Corpus Christi already defeating 12th ranked Mississippi State on their home court back on December 21st.

I can't get on the 2K servers to find any good sliders...I'm relatively weak at this game from my last stint and I'm used to NCAA.

If anybody has any slider recommendations, PLEASE let me know.

Also, I'm not afraid of losing a bunch at the beginning!

I don't know what most other people use, but I've been using 500bloc's sliders (LINK). It's 20 minute sliders and according to him the sliders work on any difficulty. I play with it on MOP, and they can be pretty unforgiving if you let the turnovers mount up. When I first started using them, I went 0-10 to start my season with Colgate.

Thanks for the comment and follow!

It was a really positive start to the season, but the Southland games have been brutal. I haven't gotten the same out of Ruthledge.

Hopefully we can turn it around!!

Thanks knickerbocker. I'll give those a shot!

0-10 is rough, but it sounds like a challenge...and I like challenges!!!

Corpus Christi, TX - Central Arkansas took the trip into Corpus Christi hoping they could level their conference record, but instead dug themselves deeper in a heartbreaking 56-54 loss.

The story of the game was Myron Dempsey's glass dominance for Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The 6'6" PF was unbelievable, gobbling everything up en route to a 19 rebound performance. This made up for his lousy 1-12 shooting performance.

On the other hand, questions will be asked as to why Mark Ruthledge has seen a decrease in playing time. In 22 minutes of work, the least amongst all starters, Ruthledge managed 14 points on 5-14 shooting.

John Harks had a career day in the rebounding department with 11, and was matched by Anthony Borden's double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

He also added six rebounds, with two of his most important coming in the final minute of the game on the defensive side to help seal the win.

For Lamar, PG Anthony Miles set a career best for three point shots made with four as he led the Cardinals with 16 points.

Conway, AR - It was never a game as McNeese State took a dominant 29-16 lead into the half and ran away with it in the second half en route to an easy 64-45 win over host Central Arkansas.

The balanced attack brought by the Cowboys couldn't be stopped by Central Arkansas. The game changed when the Cowboys decided to bring the ball inside into the post and exploited a glaring weakness in the Bears defense.

The game had been close in the opening minutes, but a 19-6 run to close out the first half tore Coach Pfeifer's team apart.

The second half was more of the same and showed the Southland Conference the lack of interior defense was the achilles tendon of the Central Arkansas Bears.

Central Arkansas can't wait to get out of January, a month in which they went 3-4 overall, 2-4 in conference play. Before that, they must play one last January game against SE Louisiana (6-8, 3-2), losers of their last two.

Tough loss, hopefully the defense can step it up in the next one. Not like the offense couldn't stand to play a little better, they're definitely not keeping the scorekeeper busy.
