You may have a deadline when the series will have to come to an end, which could alter things a bit.

            May 1st, 2015

Finally after the long Wednesday spent at school for the seven hours, I was home. I literally had no responsibilities anymore since the AAU season was kind of dead in the month of May so I'd be able to just kick back and watch TV or something. I fiddled my key in the knob of the entrance to the house and found my dad straight ahead in the living room. It looked like he had something on his mind.

            "Hey dad."

He looked turned his head to sight me then he went on, "Michael I've got some real bad news . . ."

            "What is it?"

"Well . . . It's tough to say it but your mom passed this morning."

I felt like I'd just got the air knocked out of me. Tears immediately started flooding down from my eyes as I collapsed myself onto the couch with my head buried onto the cushion.

"Don't worry Mike, she died a fighter of cancer and she's going to always be looking over you and all the family."

"No, no, no . . . This can't be real though." I said barely getting the sentence out clearly.

"I wish it wasn't but things happen." Said dad.

"But what about Trent? He's going to move here?"

"Yeah, I mean, he's going to have too."

I arose in another period of silence as crying continued. I wished I could've been there for mom instead of her being isolated in Indianapolis just having Trent.

"It's going to be alright Mike." He said while shedding a tear.

Just started new poll on which point of view I should continue this dynasty on.
I've put it into consideration because I'm thinking with an out of story narrator I can include the setting and other details in a more smooth manner but I don't want to change it up if you guys like how it's being told so it's up you all.
Also you can choose multiple answers which is used for the last two questions which regard keeping this thread or starting a new one.
                Thanks!

EDIT: As well as a change of format going into it if a new thread was made.

Do it from the same perspective. Maybe you could do both though, like my series's. You have first person perspective for michaels posts, and then you could do third person posts for non Michael posts.

                    June 2nd, 2015

I sat along the edge of the couch watching some random movie from HBO with my little brother Trent. Today was the start of our two month summer vacation after what seemed to be the longest school year I'd ever take part in filled with all the finals studying, the extra credit projects, everything. Then at the same time I had to try to maintain my relationship with my girlfriend Paige who had been complaining saying she didn’t think we spent enough time with each other anymore. But it still circled around in my mind of how great my junior year was bound to be. Troy was gone, Cleveland was gone, Augustus, all of them. Now I was the man on the team and I was

“Dude look at this!” Bursted Trent who rotated his phone in my direction.

I squinted at the screen trying to identify what he was talking about. It was an ESPN section article talking about an AAU roundup and I couldn’t help but to notice the short kid who symbolize the headline wearing a purple Dayton Nets jersey. It was me, but I wasn’t too surprised, at this point it was beyond out of my nature to get hyped about that type of stuff because of my personal publicity I started earning way back when I got the starting spot at Polk.

“ESPN, huh.” I said in a response, carelessly.

Tomorrow was the big AAU day for me and the team. We were finally back in action after a month of a dead period with no tournaments and were traveling to fellow city, Akron, home of LeBron James and his annual sponsored tournament. I couldn’t have been happier for the day to come. Without organized basketball for the past month I began to get a little stir crazy. Only thing is; is that I wished mom could still be here to see my games but I knew it would never happen again. I wanted it to be just liked the old days when she would come to every single one of my games at Mountain Lake and then Central when I got to high school despite her being clueless about the game of basketball and then afterwards she telling me how great I did in the game. I had to admit, it never left my thoughts that she was now gone but I guess I was starting to slowly process it out but I’ll never let her leave my heart.

“At least the world knows who you are, bro.” Trent said after when he realized my tone. “You lucky, nobody knew me back when I was in Indianapolis with mama and they don’t now.”

“Yeah, I know but you don’t understand how it feels to have so much weight on your shoulders all at once. As cool as being a star sounds, it really has a price on it.”

“Hey if you don’t like it I’ll be happy to trade lives.” He said with a grin on his face.

I laughed and shook my head, “Nah I’ll pass on that one. Its stress but it’s gonna pay off when I’m in the NBA making stacks.”

“Yeah and you’ll be giving me fifty percent of all your earnings, right?” He said with a chuckle.

“Sure Trent, sure. But as long as I’m around, we’re both making it big one day.”

“Man how crazy would that be. Both of us killin in the NBA and we can’t forget about Julez, he’s gonna make it too,.”

“Yeah we just all got to make the dreams a reality.” I said.

                    “Yeah . . . I sure can’t wait til’ high school.”

I was glad Trent moved into the house last month, not too much for the reason but I think it gave me the opportunity to be a positive influence to someone and because of that it was somewhat of a priority to maintain a good behavior when he was around. Trent was now an eighth grader who I guess was going to Eastbank Middle School once August would sneak back up on us and send us back to the school rooms. He’d grown a lot out of nowhere since the last time I saw him in Indianapolis; I’m talking like 4 inches. He wasn’t too bad of a player either from what I saw when we had our hoop sessions at the local YMCA.

I checked my phone after a silence broke out between us two. Lately my email inbox had been blowing up after I started creating player recruiting profiles on various sites with my personal contact information. There were a few notable teams who had mailed me so far; Wright State, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan State, Michigan and the rest of the remanding 9 weren’t really any big programs but still I had absolutely no offer as of yet
Today it displayed absolutely nothing new but junk mail that loaded into the folders of my inbox.

“You wanna go hoop in the backyard?” I asked after launching my phone on the end of the couch.

“Yeah sure.” He said as he got up and led the way towards the sliding door.

It was a nice day outside; I say a good 82°. The cones dad had set up for me and Trent was still there from the a few days ago so I figured we could start with a routine of dribbling around them just to get a warm-up going.

Trent ran the obstacle first and I couldn’t help but to notice his style of dribbling so I quickly re-instructed him.

“Don’t look down while you dribbling. I used to do that and coach’s hated it.”

Suddenly the visiting neighbor, Markel the same person who brought me so much trouble ever since he moved on my block, was in sight coming towards my backyard.

I sighed in frustration, “What could this dude want this time . . .” I muttered to myself.

                        June 2nd, 2015

I continued glaring as he got closer and closer.
“Hey it's Markel.” Trent asked after launching a deep shot.

                        “Yeah. I can see that.”

“Hey Michael what’s up?” He said as he finally stepped onto our blacktop.

“Nothing. You ever find a new team?” I asked with relief after realizing he hadn't come here to start anything bad.

“Nah and I don’t even care anymore. Pass me the ball.” I threw a chest pass going his way and watched him bury the catch and shoot jumper. I missed him being on the team but I couldn’t complain because we were winning by even bigger margins once he left.

“Well at least you can still try out for the school in October.”

“You must have forgotten that my dad is in the military. I’m moving probably next month because they’re transferring us to San Diego."

“Oh yeah. Good luck there then. It's some good colleges over in California.”

I was even relieved to hear to have a refresher on that. Markel had slowly had begun to appear slightly bipolar to me. Some days he’d come threatening me and my life then the next he’d be mister friendly guy. With him gone I think I would no longer need to worry about all the madness he came with.

“Yeah I don’t even get why my mom stays with that n**** though, he doesn’t do **** for the fam. I would’ve probably had to quit the team anyways because my mom had to pay for almost all the travel fees.”

I didn’t really know what to say nor did I care.

                        “Oh.”

“Yeah but let’s run a two on one. I bet I could take both of yall.”

Trent arose from his period of silence upon eavesdropping into the challenge, “Ok check the ball then.” He said from the top of key.

“Be sure to get some rest tonight, Michael.” Dad said as we all ate at the dining table. “Big day tomorrow.”

Tomorrow was I’d finally be back on the court but this time in Akron and it was going to be the first tournament this year that my dad would be attending. I was happy specifically about that because dad never really was able to attend any of my games and finally I’d have him on the sidelines nitpicking everything I could do better.

                        “Yeah I know dad.”

I headed to my room for the day after a long steamy shower threw on some basketball shorts and dived into my bed after texting Paige a goodnight text.

                        June 3rd, 2015

After boarding the bus at around 7:00 we finally arrived at Akron after about 3 hours on the road. I was really in tune on what the day was going to offer. All the best teams Ohio has to offer battling it out right here. One by one we stepped out of the bus and into the parking lot complied with cars and other team buses that unloaded all the players competing today. All I could say is that these guys weren't small in height at all.

I stepped up and glared at the bracket that was already set up at the front desk in the Fieldhouse. I analyzed it looking for our first round game and made a stopping point when I saw the big letters that read read: “9:45 A.M DAYTON NETS VS. ALL-OHIO BLACK”. It took me a minute to realize it but these were the guys I saw at the Buckeye Report tournament. The team that the Malik Brown or whatever played for.

“Alright Michael, you’re really fortunate to have the opportunity to play in a tournament as high of a caliber than this one is.” Dad said as we paced around the game floor. “I want to see you play with a lot of heart out there and even though you’re playing against a ranked guard yourself, I don’t want to see any letdowns. Just treat it like he's just another guard.”

“Ok dad.” I said before joining the team warm-ups minutes before game time.

I received the ball in the line and got a little fancy with a step back jumper only to see it fall off the side of the rim. My jump shot not falling today would be the worst thing that could happen. And right after that I saw a group of players jogging in towards the other side of the court sporting the jerseys that plastered a more than professional look saying “All Ohio”.

Anxiety filled my mind but it was no doubt that I had the urge to make Malik and his team stupid out here. This was going to be war out here and I halfway didn’t like this guy already so there’s no way in hell that I was going to let him impress anybody out here.

Finally the buzzer sounded and both team’s reserves fled the court and the floor only remained with each of the starting 5 players from each team. I looked over at the other end at Malik’s direction and stared him dead in the eye. This guy didn’t know what would be coming at him . . .

We started the game at an intended slow pace. All-Ohio was getting a huge wrath of production from almost their entire starting lineup and eventually we found ourselves down 10-2 within the first few minutes. I glanced over at the sideline to see if dad had anything to say as I received the inbound pass after the score only to see coach bombing me instead.

“Stop taking all those ******* jump shots Michael what the f*ck do you think this is!” He said furiously. I didn’t quite expect to hear such an earful from coach when my dad was standing on the sideline along with him but I guess that was coach Gatson for you.

I sighed but slightly took in what he said as I pushed the ball up the court and set up the play. It allowed me to a pick and roll towards the basket and I finished strong with an and-one while putting Malik in early foul trouble with two in the first.

“And one!” I yelled as I watched him be called off the court by his coach.

Towards the end of the quarter I guess coach got a little frustrated with me and demanded me to get off the floor after a turnover by the other team. I slumped down onto the bench expecting to hear something from coach Gatson but instead he was silent and focused on the floor.

I got the opportunity to come off the bench once the second quarter started but after shortly after I was late closing out on a three point jump shot by one of the All-Ohio reserves guards I was once again taken out but this time it was much longer. I sat emotionless near the middle of the chairs barely paying any attention to the game. I tried to figure out if coach Gatson just didn’t like me until I was called back into the game with about two minutes remaining in the half.

We hustled off the floor once the halftime buzzer went off. I glanced at the scoreboard to see it displaying a tie game at 31-31 then took a seat in the chairs pulled out.

Everybody gathered around Jonathon congratulating him on his great first half. He hadn’t missed a single field goal as of yet but I thought I’d at least get some credit because I was the one setting him up for almost all of those shots he got.

"Hey you're doing good out there Michael." Dad said. "Just get a hold of yourself and this second half will go all your way."

I nodded once he finished his statement and went over towards coach and everybody else to get some water and cool off before halftime was up.

Eventually down the line in the third the Black sparked a run on us that we couldn’t stop. I was extremely tired and sluggish on the court which never really happened to me but I tried to keep it in disguise just because I never knew who could be watching me from the crowd. Malik was taking advantage of me when he started to look for his own shot and humiliated me as I tried to recover but nothing would work and we started the fourth losing with the score being 46-41.

I wasn’t surprised to not see coach give me signal to get back on the court. In fact, I wasn’t even mad. I really needed the breather but soon coach put me back in where I played silently scoring wise but tried to get teammates involved to push us back to the lead. We got close but every time we succeeded our opponents came back down the line to do something even better.

I called a timeout after Malik nailed a shot beyond the arc right in my face and pushed the lead up to 57-49. I was frustrated and so fatigued at the same time, it started triggering with my emotions and my body language went south as I bashed my hands straight into my forehead with complete rage multiple times.

“Good timeout Michael.” Coach said as we circled him to hear what he had in store for us. “We need to calm down out there and play team basketball. You guys are allowing them to get too many easy opportunities and their giving them to us but we’re not communicating well enough. You’re all chucking up these bullsh*t shots and failing in every aspect of our game plan. At this rate of what I’m seeing we might as well pack up our bags and go back home. We didn't get invited here to get f*cked up in the first round by these guys. Now get back out there and show some desire.”

After this we really started to hold our own. We turned it around and we became a threat to win the game in the closing minute.
As a team, we got the point differential down to one but right afterwards we were forced to foul with 24 seconds remaining. AO capped both of the free throws and luckily we had another timeout so coach had the opportunity to map out the last second plan to win the game.

“Quick isolation.” Coach quickly announced in the huddle. “Michael, this is your moment. I want all shooters to be on the wing in case of backup but Michael, I’m depending on you.”

The buzzer rang and I headed down to the backcourt to get the inbound pass. “My moment” I thought while I carried the ball up the floor. A pass to Jed resulted in a pass coming right back my way and I dribbled around trying to milk the clock then I made my move. Faked towards the paint, stepped back . . . Brick.

Disappointment in myself resulted in me to be late to foul Malik after he got the outlet pass from their center but I shuttered towards him and wrapped him up to get the intentional.
He cashed in both of the free throws and we called in another immediate timeout.

I demanded the ball from Sterling at the half court inbound and got the three pointer to fall. It wasn’t enough, and we lost the game 63-59.

"Keep trying dude." Said Malik who approached me after the final buzzer.

That only added to my frustration. I outperformed him in almost everything I did out there and he really had the nerve to say that crap.

"Just know that I'm going to be higher in that rank than you tonight." I said rather cleverly not trying to show my anger. "Better yet, shut your dumba** up. If we ever play again I'm lighting your a** up."

"Oh ok. You think you real hard, huh." He said as he strolled away towards his team to celebrate the victory.

I did the same, except going towards my team who looked the exact opposite of the cheering All-Ohio team.

Kane gonna shred him up next time lol

By the way, if anybody has any suggestions, I'll love to hear them. And if anybody wants to create a player that will be implemented into this dynasty then I will take those if you send and you'll be mentioned throughout Kane's AAU and high school season if I ever play against your team.
