Re: The Coaching Legacy of Danny Carmichael (CH 2K8)
December 29, 2007: Eastern Michigan vs. Radford
Radford ends a 4 game losing skid as they defeat Eastern Michigan in the Gulf Coast Challenge 3rd place game, 69-58.
Radford was led by SF T.J. Gouard who finished with a game high 15 points and 8 rebounds. PG Frederick Garnett filled up the stat sheet as he finished with 14 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Then, SG Ryan Ariza came off the bench and scored 10 points on 3 of 6 shooting, in just 10 minutes of playing time. The Highlanders as a team were awful shooting 3's. They shot 5 of 23 from behind the arc, which is 22%. But, the Free Throw % seems to be improving as they shot 82% from the charity stripe today.
Eastern Michigan was led by PG Dwayne Dowling who had a great game in the loss. He finished the game with 12 points, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 2 rebounds. The only other Eastern Michigan player to finish in double figures scoring was SG Henry Hooper. Hooper scored 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting.

January 2, 2008: Radford vs. South Carolina
This game isn't worthy of a box score lol.
This was Radford's last game before conference play starts up... And the Highlanders did not play well at all. South Carolina defeated Radford in what will probably be the lowest scoring game this year, 48-40.
Radford was led by SG Aaron Dupre who had a team high 11 points. The Highlanders as a team shot just 21% from the floor, 19% shooting 3's, and 44 % from the free throw line. This was just a really bad offensive game...
South Carolina was led by PG Fred Schiffner who scored a team high 11 points on 3 of 20 shooting. Yes, you see that right... He missed 17 shots. PF Arturo Oliphant scored 7 points and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds. The Gamecocks shot 29% from the floor, 18% shooting 3's, and 53% from the free throw line.
Radford's next game: @ Coastal Carolina, January 12th

January 12, 2008: Radford vs. Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina wins their 5th straight game as they easily beat Radford 91-62.
Radford was led by Backup SG Dave Torbert who finally broke out of a bad shooting slump by scoring 15 points in 25 minutes. The Highlanders once again played very poorly, but this time on both sides of the ball. They shot 34% from the field, 29% shooting 3's, and 52% from the free throw line. They also turned the ball over 20 times in the game. Just about the lone bright spot was the 40 total rebounds, which is a new high for the Highlanders in any game all year.
Coastal Carolina was led by Senior SG Reynold Rothseiden who scored a game high 21 points on 5 of 13 shooting. Senior SF Prosper Logie was very efficient scoring the ball tonight as he put up 20 points on 8 of 10 shooting. Then, PF Mike Garner didn't have a very good night putting the ball in the basket, but he did grab a game high 15 rebounds in the win.

Re: The Coaching Legacy of Danny Carmichael (CH 2K8)
Yeah... It's really been a rough couple of games.
Oh, and thanks again for the recruiting tips! If everything goes as planned, I'm going to end up with a real solid recruiting class that will GREATLY improve the team in my 2nd year.

January 19, 2008: Winthrop vs. Radford
For the second straight game Radford blew a lead in the final 3 minutes of the game, as Winthrop wins this one by a score of 64-61.
Radford was led by SF T.J. Gouard who scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. SG Aaron Dupre finished with a team high 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Backup Freshman Ryan Ariza had a solid performance coming off the bench as he finished the game with 6 points and 6 rebounds in just 12 minutes of playing time. The Highlanders' offense continues to be stagnant and turn the ball over way too much. If they want to win the Big South conference championship, this has GOT to improve soon.
Winthrop was without a doubt led by PG Demetrius McKnight. McKnight had a fantastic all around game as he finished with 14 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Freshman PF Allen Nash finished with 11 points in just 13 minutes of playing time. Freshman SG Cedrick Didlake came off the bench and scored 11 point on 4 of 5 shooting. SF Tracy Arenas chipped in 10 points and also grabbed 3 boards.

January 23, 2008: Radford vs. UNC-Asheville
The UNC Asheville Bulldogs could not miss tonight as they clobber the Highlanders 111-84.
Radford was led by PG Frederick Garnett who had a great all around game. Garnett finished with 16 points on 6 of 7 shooting, 5 assists, and 6 steals. SG Aaron Dupre scored 15 points on 5 of 9 shooting and 4 of 5 from behind the 3 point arc. SG Dave Torbert and SF Reginald Holbrook both came off the bench and chipped in 12 points in solid performances by both players. The Highlanders were in foul trouble just about all night, thanks to UNC-Asheville's 7'7" Center. (yes, you read that correctly)
UNC-Asheville was led by their 7'7" 360 lb. starting Walk-On Center, Reid Obasohan. Obasohan finished with a double double (no surprise there) by scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. SG Edgar Lett had a great offensive performance. Lett scored 24 points and dished out 7 assists. Walk On PF Lesli Mikulas had a great game as well as he scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Backup SG Kelyn Deane came off the bench and finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Radford is now on a 5 game losing streak, while UNC-Asheville is on a 4 game winning streak.
