I don't wanna be premature but...

Holy crap dude. Basically 100k views on this!!! That's INSANE!

It's the 2nd most popular basketball dynasty of all-time(superjames1992 is just insane since he's been keeping up with his since 2008 and it nearly has 420k views at this point) and overall across all dynasties is the 10th most viewed dynasty in the history of Operation Sports. That's just crazy cause you started this just a little under a year ago and it's already soared that high and will probably be Top 3 in no time. All incredibly well deserved, and in my opinion the greatest dynasty ever with all the graphics, care, and detail put into it to make it feel like it's a franchise I created and played myself. Keep it up dude!

Bless you, sir, I didn't realize I was anywhere near those stats. I'm happy to have put together something people enjoy.

Hopefully, this will encourage people to keep the Sonics alive while they're MIA from the league. As long as they're not forgotten, there's a chance for them to really come back.

*ahem* That out of the way, expect an update in the coming days, things will be slowing down at work again so I'll have time. Hoping to wrap up this season before 2K17 comes out (still haven't decided whether to get it, we've yet to get gameplay information yet) so I can set up for a good *potential* stopping point.

If I do jump to 2K17, I might take a crack at the Sonics again (since we'll have an actual expansion process and such in there, the team will be VASTLY different and the whole process will be much more realistic) or try to found a franchise somewhere else (Vancouver?).

As always, thanks for following and keeping the faith. You guys make this worth doing (and make me seem not as insane!).

      Stay tuned.

          Thank you, good sir!

Must apologize for the lack of updates, we're pushing a big project at work (due date: next Wednesday) that's sucking up way more time than I wish it did. I'm pushing to finish what I need to today so I can have a light day tomorrow and get back to this -- expect at least 1 new story post to be up by Saturday morning.

Again, thank you for the patience.

Re: Second Coming: A SuperSonics Return

            January 4th, 2019

The Space Needle was alight in the night, its glow attracting his eyes to it even though he'd spent most of his life in Seattle. No matter how many times he'd see it, it would always captivate him.

"You're here to ask me for information, aren't you?" The man across from him didn't flash a grin or even smirk, but rather gave him a shake of his head. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have nothing to say. Loyalty means something to me."

Max stirred his tea, squeezing a bit of lemon into it. "It seems like loyalty is only a one way street."

The man across from him didn't wince -- he was too much a veteran of the business for that -- but there was a brief moment of pain. "Why am I here?"

Max sipped his tea, preparing himself for the pitch that would make or break this season ... and maybe his life. "I want you on my team." He set the tea to the side. "In fact, I want you to run it."

Danny Ainge couldn't hide the surprise on his face. "You want me to run it?"

"I want you to take over. Effective immediately." Max pulled a manila envelope from his laptop bag, thick with papers. "I want you in charge of my franchise."

            "This is a joke."

"Dead serious, Danny." Max let out a sigh, his eyes playing across the disbelieving man's face. "I want you in charge."

"I haven't had a winning season in three years."

            "I know."

"And my trade for DeMarcus Cousins will likely go down as one of the worst in Boston history." Ainge cast an amused look at him. "I haven't come this far without knowing when to step away." He sipped his coffee, a wistful look on his face. "I've been around for the rise and fall of dynasties. Been a part of one ... built one ... failed to build one again."

Max shot him a glance. "Are you saying no? Because I don't see you leaving."

"Brash and bold, aren't you?" He leaned back in his chair. "You're offering me a chance to run your franchise. Why?"

Max narrowed his eyes and considered lying; but this was Danny Ainge, one of the best executives in the NBA ... the man had heard every lie imaginable. "I need someone with experience to look after my team while I'm gone."

Ainge's face flashed curiosity. "Where does a multi-billionarie owner have to go?"

Max took off his wedding ring and held it up. "To find my wife."

The elder man nodded. "Ah." He tapped his finger on the table. "Not basketball related at all."

"No." Max leaned forward, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Ray Allen speaks highly of you and I trust Ray. I've spoken at length with people around the league and they vouch for you. I'm not leaving you to babysit the team while I go off to find my wife."

Ainge's eyes widened slightly, shot to the envelope, then back to Max. "How long do you plan to be gone?"

Max could only offer a shrug. "She doesn't exactly want to be found. She won't make it easy but I'm going to find her. I'd like to leave the team in good hands ... even if I do find her and come back, I won't be as involved."

"And why's that? You've won three titles straight. Your team and fans love you. You only have one real enemy in the league and it's not as though anyone likes Bennett anyway." Ainge narrowed his eyes. "Why go away?"

"Because I have to. Because my life can be about basketball or the woman I love, not both ... I tried both. It didn't work." He flashed a smile. "Like any good GM, I have to adjust when something doesn't work."

Ainge took a long look at the envelope, then cast his eyes back up to Max. "And how long do I have to decide?"

"Now. Deal's only good for this meeting."

Ainge shook his head, a rueful grin stretched across his face. "You drive a hard bargain." He took the envelope, opened it, and peered at the first few pages. His eyes widened. "But you pay well."

"Perks of being a multi-billionarie. I've also picked up the check." He took one last sip of his tea and stood, gathering his laptop bag and extending his hand. "Welcome to the Sonics, Danny."

Danny Ainge looked at the hand, then at Max, before accepting it and shaking it. "Thank you. Good luck."

Max gave him a nod. "Thank you." With that, he left, his free hand twisting his wedding ring around his finger. He had taken care of his team.

Now, it was time to take care of his wife.

Re: Second Coming: A SuperSonics Return

2K17 has been preordered -- the game has shown me enough to grant it a rare back-to-back year buy.

As for this, last updates for this dynasty coming Saturday. I've simmed to the end of the regular season and will be simming all of the playoff games to see what Seattle will do without Max around at the helm.

As for Max, his story will be concluding -- about 2-3 more posts for his story line before I put a bow on this and launch the 2K17 Dynasty.

Speaking of the 2K17 Dynasty, my goal remains -- I want an 80 year league. I didn't reach it this time around, but I got further than I have ever before and I feel there were a lot of great lessons to learn here. I definitely think it's possible to do, it's just a matter of efficiency and time on my end.

I want to hear your guys' opinions one where I should go for my 2K17 Dynasty. A few different ideas have presented themselves to me:

                A. Another Seattle Dynasty -- this time as an expansion team with proper expansion rules, this Seattle team will be much different (and way worse) than the one assembled here. There were a number of ideas I had for this dynasty that lost out to the story of Max that could easily be adapted for this, so it wouldn't be the same -- it would be quite different, actually, but I don't want to retread territory.

                B. A different expansion team -- the NBA could expand elsewhere. I see two expansion teams being possible for the league at this point, so it could be Seattle and someone else -- my money's on Vancouver or somewhere else in Canada. Wherever I expand the league, I could take over a non-Seattle team and start a franchise from the ground up. Would definitely be a different experience -- I would try, of course, not to replicate what someone else was doing.

                C. Taking over a current NBA team -- Ignoring the expansion feature altogether (at least initially), I could take over a current NBA franchise and attempt to bring them to the promise land. With Cleveland now a champion, there's one less franchise without a title to their names. There are teams with long title droughts (Knicks, Bucks, Wizards -- then Bullets) and teams without titles at all (Suns, Grizzlies, Kings).

                D. Your Suggestions -- or I could roll with an idea not proposed above. Things are wide open, so let me know what you guys think and a huge THANK YOU for the views/likes/posting within this thread. Really loved the feedback I got all year on this and I hope to see you in the next dynasty (and making your own dynasties, too!).

Re: Second Coming: A SuperSonics Return

I think A or B seems most interesting. If you do 2 expansion teams at once (like Seattle and Vancouver, or maybe St. Louis and Kansas City, or Las Vegas and San Diego, or Baltimore and Pittsburgh) you could create a regional rivalry between the 2 teams.

Maybe you just control 1 of them, maybe you control both. I think it could be really interesting either way. Or maybe you add all 8 and go crazy with the storylines between the new owners. Maybe a chunk of them are college buddies from Stanford and hit it big in Silicon Valley. Maybe 3 of them are Middle Eastern oil barons and they face racism from the white elite, maybe there's a black or Hispanic owner. Maybe someone from East Asia takes over a team (in Seattle?) and brings his or her own style.

Or maybe you bring a 2nd team to Chicago and see how they can handle playing in the shadow of the Bulls.

Anyway, lots of crazy ideas. Thanks for this thread, I will miss Max but I completely understand.

As for myself, I appreciate your inspiration and will keep going in 2K16 (despite how amazing 2K17 looks). I have Coach J players in drafts all the way up through 2020, so I have at least 3 more seasons to go, and ideally would like to maybe play through 15-20 seasons to see all of Zo and LJ's careers.
?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

I'll go with B. The consept of expansion is brand new and would love to see it. We've seen you in Seattle, so let's go somewhere else. Rather than going to Canada, I'd suggest you get a team somewhere in the midwest

Thanks for the kind words, man. Max's story has run its course and it happened way earlier than I anticipated, but it's been that kind of story. I got a good 4 seasons in-game and that's not a bad run all things considered.

I look forward to following Coach J as long as you roll with him -- the idea of a historic league has been one I've floated.

One option I forgot to list in all that was an alternate history league -- instead of the NBA winning the basketball war between itself and the ABA, what if the reverse happened? What if the ABA was around now and not the NBA? It would be a massive undertaking but one I've considered doing just for the pure insanity of it all.

A midwest team actually isn't a bad idea there. I myself am leery of doing another Seattle franchise -- I already did it and there's definite fatigue now with the idea.

If not Seattle, St. Louis is up -- they just lost the Rams (such a shame, too, their owner is/was a major prick for how he treated the town and the fans) and have never had a team that's "theirs." I think an NBA franchise there would really galvanize the community and give St. Louis a leg up on regional rival Kansas City.

I think B is the most intriguing option, especially with the regional rivalries idea.
