Leggett and King could be a nice future backcourt for Philly. Leggett, King, Covington, Noel, Okafor could be a playoff LU in a couple years.

Before becoming one of the biggest draft busts in NBA history and the reason why some teams dread the #2 spot, Sam Bowie was regarded as a dominant center and one half of the "Twin Towers" for the Kentucky Wildcats. Despite his collegiate career being marred by leg injuries, Bowie was still held in high regard for his size and skillset.

The Portland Trailblazers owned the #2 pick after trading center Tom Owens to the Pacers. It was known the Blazers would want a big man after making the move, but the Rockets drafted Hakeem Olajuwon #1 overall. Choosing between Bowie and North Carolina guard Michael Jordan, Portland decided to draft based off of need, rather than what most considered the better talent.

Sometimes, it might be better to have both Clyde Drexler and Michael Jordan on your team.

That was an interesting pick by the Celtics, I thought (more like wished and hoped) they would take Nikola

                  Mr. Retirement

9 days short of exactly 19 years in the National Basketball League as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, Tim Duncan—an undoubted first-ballot hall of famer—retired.

"Actually," the (now ex-) big man says with a smile, "5 days shy, if you include days added for a leap year." He's right, of course. Tim Duncan, both on a basketball court and off it, is rarely wrong.

After 19 years in basketball, 5 championships, 2 MVP awards, there are still a few things Timmy doesn't know. What to do after retirement, for one: will he stay involved in basketball, will he stay in the US?

"I'm glad that I've got a lot of options now. There's a lot I can do. I have a lot of options."

Multitude of options notwithstanding, Duncan's retirement is the end of an era for the league, akin to Burleigh Grimes throwing the last (legal) spitball in 1934, 14 years after the league outlawed it for new pitchers. Where will the league now go for its quiet class, its silent superstar? For Duncan, though quiet, more than merits acceptance to the list of superstars in our time. Indeed, we can now say that he is one of the greatest power forwards—or centers—to play the game. And he did it so silently, in such an out-of-the-way city (no disrespect to San Antonio), that our kids won't comprehend it when we tell them that, once upon a time, superstars existed without drama.

"The city just embraced him, and he embraced it. It was a perfect relationship," says Tony Parker, Duncan's long term teammate and a member of the Spurs' Big 3—a Big 3 that existed long before James, Wade and Bosh, long before the hopeful, and failed, companionship of Kobe, Dwight, and Nash. Nay, the Spurs' Big 3 went about their business quietly and successfully.

"Just imagine that, nowadays, you've got your Dwight with his Stan van Gundy saga; LeBron the player-coach; all the superstar drama and speculation throughout the years. And then you look at Tim, and you think, man, what I wouldn't give for that," said one league executive who wished to remain unnamed. And it is quite true. Off-court turbulence? None. Hilarious commercial? Yep. On-court turbulence? Only a few crazy techs from Joey Crawford. How did Duncan respond? A little laughter.

Perhaps the greatest testament to Timmy is the fact that of his 19 seasons, the Spurs made the playoffs 18 times (every year since 2001). That is an incredible streak, and a remarkably unchanged one; the Big 3 remained, gaining a few players here, losing a few there. In the past years, Kawhi Leonard has taken over the mantle of superstar; Duncan has ceded it without complaint, while accepting his limited minutes in classic Timmy fashion. He knows it's not about him. Imagine Dwight ceding minutes for younger, more agile players. If you can, then you have quite the imagination.

Mr. Fundamentals, alas, is gone. Mr. Retirement remains. But there's the glimmer of hope that he'll stay in San Antonio, coaching besides Pop in his quiet, winning way.

After all, there are still a few days to go if he wants to hit 19 years in the league.

After a tough year, is Blake finally done in LA?

5 Moves That Should, But Won't, Happen This Offseason

The NBA, for all its faults, has never been short of offseason of in-season superstar drama. Whether it's LeBron's hour-long "Decision" show or Dwight Howard, at the time arguably the best big in the league, getting traded, the NBA's superstar are the closest to the fire out of all the Big 4 sports. This year's offseason promises to be no exception, with several big names floating around the rumour circles.

Rumours, of course, are as likely to be created by a lizard who just figured out how to use a computer as they are to be legitimate, team-sourced indications of priorities. That being said, here are 5 moves we'd like to see completed before the 2016-17 NBA season kicks off.

                    1. Blake Griffin, 2018 2nd (LAC) to Boston Celtics for Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, 2017 1st (Top-5 protected)
The Clippers aren't going to give up Griffin for less than an arm and a leg, but it's an intriguing move for Boston to make, considering the rumour that "Boston... interested... star big man." Griffin is the bona fide star the Celtics long for, and his offensive game is one any team could use. It's a lot for Boston to give up, but after Griffin's debacle last season, it's a move that's much more feasible now.

                    2. Kyrie Irving (CLE) to New York Knicks for José Calderon, Robin Lopez, 2018 1st (Top-10 protected), 2020 1st
Hell year. These two teams have been linked in rumours since the beginning of the offseason, and this trade would make sense for everyone involved. The Cavs give away Kyrie, freeing up touches for LeBron, while grabbing two first-round picks and two role players well suited to playing around LeBron—an absolute big man and a pass-first point guard. The Knicks get a young star to partner with Kristaps Porzingis as the Melo era winds down, and the 1st round picks shouldn't mean too much by the time they come around. The Knicks and Cavaliers have been successful trade partners before—why not again?

                    3. Al Jefferson (CHA) to Portland Trail Blazers; Joakim Noah (CHI) to Charlotte Hornets; Noah Vonleh, 2018 1st (POR–Lottery protected) to Chicago Bulls
Our first 3-team trade. Based on the rumours of who wants which big and who is willing to let which big go, we crunched the numbers and came up with this 3-team swap. Let's go one at a time... this makes sense for the Blazers, as they add a big man who can actually score. Jefferson is a great player in my opinion, and adding him to Portland's squad should give that team the third offensive option they've lacked. Noah to the Hornets frees up touches for the (finally) emergent Kemba Walker and gives the team a winning and defensive mentality. Vonleh is a nice, cheap young big man for the Bulls to develop... and who's gonna scoff at a 1st round pick as well?

                    4. Rudy Gay (SAC) to Atlanta Hawks for Kent Bazemore, Calvin Drayton, 2017 2nd
DeMarcus Cousin had an incredible season last year, and it's scary to conceive of what he could do if Rudy Gay weren't depriving him of touches. This allows for that beast to come into being, and the Kings get a solid defender at SF (perhaps a platoon with Omri Casspi could work there), a rookie, and a draft pick. Oh, and they dump Gay's contract. Nifty little trade here for Kings, and the Hawks aren't unhappy either. This trade could get them over the hump, as they add a legitimate #1 scoring option to their solid squad. The Hawks have been second-tier contenders in the East recently, even with their #1 seed, and this trade gives Paul Millsap the help he needs to lead the Hawks to the top tier.

                    5. Trey Burke (Utah) to Cleveland Cavaliers for 2017 2nd
Well, Trey, if you want out of Utah so much, maybe the Cavs are willing to send a 2nd round pick to the Jazz for you. No, you won't be the star, but it's time to decide whether you want to be a star or whether you want to win. Burke scored 10 points per game last year, so he would either be a nice little spark off the bench for the Cavs, or, if the above Kyrie trade goes through, he could even step into the starting role—something much easier with LeBron to cover for you. The NBA isn't all roses, Trey, as you know now; but it doesn't have to be all thorns, either.

The NBA championship won't be won in the offseason, but there's a lot for everyone (except Golden State) to do.

Ainge and the Celtics could be looking to acquire Blake Griffin through draft picks and assets. A third team could be involved.

Lebron will (as expected) test the market to allow for contract flexibility. He is expected to re-sign with Cleveland.

Sacramento openly shopping Rudy Gay hoping to land a superstar in return. Atlanta, Charlotte and Phoenix have all expressed interest.

Phoenix Suns announce Paul Westphal as their new head coach for a second stint. Westphal played for Phoenix from 1975-1980 and was their active head coach from 1992-1995.

The Houston Rockets have narrowed their search for a head coach down to Jeff Van Gundy & Tom Thibodeaux.

Utah rumored to be shopping Trey Burke along with draft picks.

The Bulls may have changed stance on Joakim Noah. Pau Gasol could be sign-and-trade bait this summer.

Golden State assistant Ron Adams is has been cleared to meet with Denver, Brooklyn and New York about vacant head coaching positions.

Rookies Pernell Wells and Jadar Choice sign multi-year shoe deals with SimWorld/Nike for new "SimWorld Classic".

                        2016 DRAFT EDITION

Welcome, welcome, one and all! Gather 'round and prepare to have your minds bent, your convictions questioned, and your pockets picked!
From the most astounding sports columnist on the Web today, it's time for E-Man's Proclamations. As you know, I got fired from HoopsHype for being too good at my job, so I needed a corner for myself to talk shop, make some dumb decisions and get you all riled up while we catch up with the Association.
If you think of me as a basketball PFTCommenter, then we'll be OK. Let's say, the PBTCommenter. Get it? Got it? Good.

                        Let's start the show...

                        Thought #1

So, I’m watching the 1st round and it starts harmlessly enough like they tend to, with Philly picking 1st overall. They pick the Chicken King… sorry! I mean Che’ King *le sigh*, and the draft is off to the races. It obviously slipped my mind that the Celtics have the 4th pick. Then, Philly is #5! What?! Hold up…
In the 1st round, Boston had 4 total picks, and Philly had 3. Philly got themselves 2 guards and a forward, while Boston got 2 guards and forwards a piece. I’m pretty sure I can figure out which of these teams will benefit from their first round bonanza and which one won’t.
All in all, Boston walked out of this draft with 7 (SEVEN) new pieces to add to the puzzle. Question to all other 29 teams: why? Why let a team do this? The only thing that makes sense is this guy secretly runs all the other teams…

                        Thought #2

After the draft, there was a mega blockbuster trade for the #2 and #3 picks of the second round between the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Los.. Angeles.. Lakers? Does this even matter? Like, seriously, you still play in the Staples Center, you’re still in LA, you’re still going to come out the same tunnel(unless you play your counterpart.) What gives? This feels like Jimmy Buss move.
Quick quiz: What's more insulting, that I said that, or that you thought, 'yea, story checks out'?
And another thing, I thought I was having a fever dream when I realized they were back to back picks! Yo, just shout down the hall, “hey, don’t get Teddy! We want him! We’ll leave Kregg there for you to pick up! Cool? Cool!” Ah, that was a nice little chuckle we got to have on the ol’ homestead after that trade was announced.

Aside: Check it. I googled it, and it turns out there are 12 locker rooms in the Staples Center, and the Kings(!) are the primary tenants, not ya boys the Clippers or their booty counterpart Lakers.

                        Thought #3

On the serious tip, I think this was a solid draft, and I felt it set a “new era” kind of mark. Since I haven’t been keeping up with basketball as much as I should have this last decade, I figured it’s time to set a new benchmark. With huge names coming down from the marquees like Tim Duncan, Kobe, Manu, and others from last year as well, along with the emergence of Steph Curry to take out the (too) short lived reign of the King, this year's draft has the chance to make new waves across the league. Adding Malachi Robinson to the Pels is going to seriously improve the interior and help Anthony Davis extend his still bright career. I really really like.. dare I say, love.. Shane Henderson going to the Bucks. For obvious reasons, I see a little AI in him and want to see Mighty Mouse take on the biggest and best in the NBA again. How about the League of Nations going to the Kings, Knicks, and Grizzlies? Me personally, I love having the international game seep into the NBA. Waaay better than the AAU alums that are littering the league.
Lastly, I’m going on record as stating that this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant” Dominic LaSalle will be a perennial All-Star, and might even crack the MVP voting in... 5 years. Book it!

                        Thought #4

Alright alright, sorry! I know y’all don’t really care about my basketball expertise. You came here for the goods. As such, here were my favorite rapid fire first hot taeks of the new blood as I was watching the draft:

Jarius Johnson (#9): He's comin out lookin like a dang pitbull. Sorry not sorry
David White (#17): Hey hold up, that’s Enzo Amore’s cousin yo!
Calvin Drayton (#18): 3 picks already? I hate BSton, but props on getting a whole squad in one round...
Jadamion Deveaux (#25): OK, calm down there, Wkend…
Rayan Harrak (#28): To the Spurs? Shut it down, give this kid the DROY trophy right now!
Charles Sterling (#36): Dude’s got a clean a$$ beard. Better than that rat’s nest Harden is rocking.
Demetric Brewer (#42): CUT. YOUR. HAIR.
Manuel Fernandez (#48): GROW. YOUR. HAIR. The mullet is back, baBAY! Sadly his goat game is DOA.
Benjamin Hopper (#51): This fool is straight platinum blonde? Get it, Hopper.
Cory Lynn (#55): Did Ghandi figure out how to reverse age everything BUT his face?

OK, that does it for today. Thanks for reading, and remember: We’re in this together now.

                            Grading the 2016 NBA Draft
                            by CW Sapp

                            Atlanta Hawks
                            Round 2/ Pick 6 – SG Charles Sterling/ Arkansas
                            Round 2/ Pick 16 – SF Chris Glears/ UCLA
Round 2/ Pick 24 – SF Quiason Lee/ Sacramento State

                            Grade: D
Of course with only three second round picks, the Hawks didn’t have much ammunition to hit the bulls eye but I am not a fan of a couple of these picks. Sacramento State Quiason Lee has a chance to be a surprise here but there is a possibility that none of these guys will even make the team. I truly think they should have been looking at the C and PG positions but who am I to judge.

                            Boston Celtics
                            Round 1/ Pick 4 – PG Tavaris Leggett/ Nevada
                            Round 1/ Pick 14 – SF Deandre Hollis/ Baylor
Round 1/ Pick 18 – SG Calvin Drayton/ Oregon State
                            Round 1/ Pick 24 – SF Russell Powers/ Memphis
                            Round 2/ Pick 10 – C Khari Jackson/ Gonzaga
                            Round 2/ Pick 14 – SF Patrick Delorme/ France
Round 2/ Pick 25 – SF Cory Lynn / Arizona State
                            Round 2/ Pick 26 – PF Predrag Kikanovic/ Bosnia

                            Grade: B
Ugh. Eight picks and I just don’t see anything here that is franchise changing. Tavaris Leggett is a nice pick at number four because I feel that he was one of the most underrated players going into the draft. He is a true point guard that can run a team but I don’t think his ceiling is very high. But is he good enough to beat out the guys that you just drafted a couple of years ago (Marcus Smart)? If not, what is the point. Hollis and Powers aren’t ready to make an impact and they probably could have gotten a better pick for the value at number 18. I bumped their grade up from a D+ because I truly like Khari Jackson in the second round but more importantly for this stock pile of draftees being amassed for some grand scheme of locking in a solidified, superstar big man . With eight swings you would think you could lock something down or at least one of them is a homerun right?

                            Charlotte Hornets:
Round 1/ Pick 11 – PF Trevon Burgess/ Oregon (traded to Denver for C Tashion Burns/ Arizona)
                            Round 1/ Pick 30 – PG Asim Coskunian/ Turkey

                            Grade: B-
Initially I wanted to grade them lower but reevaluating things, I sort of like what they did here. For starters, Tashion Burns is one of those paint protecting specialists and you know what you’re going to get from him. He will be a great compliment to the defensive scheme that Charlotte is running. If the Hornets move Al Jefferson as they are predicted to; this will be your new starter. Also Asim Coskunian has the potential to be a steal here for the Hornets a few years down the road.

                            Chicago Bulls
                            Round 1/ Pick 22 – SF Christian O’Leary/ Clemson
                            Round 2/ Pick 22 – C Zoenek Krejcar/ Czech Republic

                            Grade: D
The jury is still out on Christian O’Leary. We know he was a big time player at Clemson but a lot of people think that he doesn’t have the athleticism to be nearly as productive. I think I would have given this a higher grade if it was anyone other than the Bulls. I just feel like Christian O’Leary Is basically a less talented version of Doug McDermott and I am not sure why they used their first rounder on that. Krejcar probably won’t ever put on a Bulls jersey.

                            Cleveland Cavaliers
Round 1/ Pick 26 – SG Allen Blake/ La. Tech

                            Grade: B
Allen Blake is a player that has quietly turned some heads prior to the draft. Blake isn’t a star at all but playing in Cleveland with players like Irving and Lebron will give Blake the opportunity to shine and be a steal here for the Cavs.

                            Dallas Mavericks
                            Round 2/ Pick 21 – PG Benjamin Hooper/ Butler

                            Grade: D
Not much to say here. Hooper is a player that probably isn’t ready to be an NBA player and honestly may not ever see the court for this team. It could’ve been worse I guess.

                            Denver Nuggets
Round 1/ Pick 15 – C Tashion Burns/ Arizona (traded to Charlotte for – PF Trevon Burgess/ Oregon)
                            Round 1/ Pick 20 – SG Domenico Baldini/ Italy

                            Grade: B+
A lot of casual fans may not think that the Nuggets had a good draft but I think they did great. Trevon Burgess is a player that is NBA Ready and can come in and give this team offense. He has the potential to push Faried as the starter and gives them some real options going forward. Denver also gets Baldini who is a scorer with the potential to be even more if he decides to join from overseas.

                            Detroit Pistons
                            Round 1/ Pick 23 – PG Dorian Blanks/ Maryland
                            Round 2/ Pick 23 – SF Elijah Stanley/ St. John’s

                            Grade: B
So Reggie Jackson is clearly the guy at point guard for the Pistons but I actually like this pick for depth at the position being that Jennings looks to be on his way out. Blanks is one of the tougher guys at the position and is a very good defender who I think has the potential to be even better. Point “blank”; he fits the SVG mold. Elijah Stanley is a good value pick in the second round.

                            Indiana Pacers
                            Round 1/ Pick 12 – PG Pernell Wells/ Washington
                            Round 2/ Pick 12 – C Demetric Brewer/ Depaul

                            Grade: C
I like Pernell Wells as a player as he is one of the real two way players at the position but Indiana needs a BIG MAN and Rashad Davidson from Alabama was sitting right there. For what it is worth I think that Pernell will contribute immediately if Indy moves some of its perimeter players and Brewer will give them some defensive toughness but he probably won’t see the floor too much unless injuries occur.

                            Los Angeles Clippers
                            Round 1/ Pick 16 – SG Darius Porter/ Florida
Round 2/ Pick 2 – SG Kregg Gibson/ Rice (traded to Lakers for SF Teddy DeMarco/ Minnesota)

                            Grade: C+
There’s J.J. Redick, Wes Johnson, Austin Rivers & C.J. Miles…. so what should the Clippers do? Draft more swingmen? Sure why not. The Clippers went straight for the shooters with two guys that were in the top 25 in scoring in college. I think that Porter has some upside but they will need to get those minutes and I’m not sure if they will here. Why did they still get C+ you ask? Well the answer to your question… Teddy DeMarco. They got the guy that I had ranked #20 overall on my Big Board in the second round and if he gets minutes he could be a real difference maker on a team that struggles to create offense at times.

                            Los Angeles Lakers
Round 2/ Pick 3 – SF Teddy DeMarco/ Minnesota (traded to Clippers for SG Kregg Gibson/ Rice)
                            Round 2/ Pick 13 – PF Corbin McGowans/ Vanderbt

                            Grade: B
I know what you’re thinking… “How the hell did a team with two second round picks get such a high grade”? They got McGowans who was top ten in the nation in blocks and could be an alternative to an overpaid Roy Hibbert. They also got scorer Kregg Gibson that should help fill the “Kobe void” at least in terms of shot attempts from mid-range. I think the Lakers did quite alright here.

                            Memphis Grizzlies
                            Round 1/ Pick 21 – SG Ignacio Verdu/ Spain
                            Round 2/ Pick 27 – C Donovan Jenkins/ Texas Tech

                            Grade: D+
I get WHY they went with Ignacio Verdu here. They are an aging team and a young athletic guy could be just what they need. The problem is that Verdu’s ceiling is not as high as people seem to think it is in my opinion and he is just an “athletic kid” at the moment. Not to mention that I had him rated as an early second rounder and is likely a project player that will be kept overseas for the next few years. Jenkins shouldn’t have even been drafted.

                            Milwaukee Bucks
                            Round 1/ Pick 2 – PF Laqua Palmer/ Tennessee
                            Round 2/ Pick 8 – PF Aaron Reyes/ Louisville
Round 2/ Pick 19 – PG Shane Henderson/ Indiana State

                            Grade: A
I have to give the Bucks an A here because they DIDN’t blow it. I think that Laqua Palmer is absolutely the best case scenario for this team. With Michael Carter Williams, Jabari Parker, Giannis, Middleton and Greg Monroe, Laqua fits in here perfect. Aaron Reyes is also a good defender and Shane Henderson can bring some speed off the bench for a change of pace. Good job Milwaukee… I think you nailed it.

                            Minnesota Timberwolves
                            Round 1/ Pick 10 – C Nikola Mazuranic/ Croatia
                            Round 2/ Pick 20 – PF Jaylean Lewis/ Kansas

                            Grade: C
Ehhh, I’m not really sure how I feel about this pick. I think that Nikola Mazuranic is talented but they currently have a player at the position that looks like he could be the next best center in the league. What I will say is that Mazuranic brings a different style of play than Towns at 294 pounds and a tendency to punish people that oppose him in the paint and that could allow the Wolves to try their luck playing KAT at the 4. Jaylean Lewis may have been a bit overrated coming out of Kansas and I have him as a guy that won’t make the roster.

                            New Orleans Pelicans
                            Round 1/ Pick 8 – C Malachi Robinson / Ohio State
Round 2/ Pick 7 – PG Harrison Anthony/ South Carolina

                            Grade: B+
I actually really like Malachi Robinson and I like him even more for the Pelicans. It is no surprise that Omer Asik has had some injury issues so a center here is no surprise. What I like about the pick is that Robinson is a student of the game that will learn from Anthony Davis and make one of the most feared defensive duos in the league. Oh, and the young man has a consistent mid range jumper. We can’t forget about Harrison Anthony who may not be the most athletic but is very crafty and has shown the ability to score in the post like a forward.

                            New York Knicks
                            Round 2/ Pick 15 – PG JaMarcus Knipp/ Michigan

                            Grade: D-
The Knicks are stupid. They had one second round pick so I can’t expect them to do too much here but Knipp is a player that struggled towards the end of his career at Michigan and wasn’t even projected to get drafted. I would have liked to see them go with the Russian point guard Aleksei Pirog but… nope.

                            Oklahoma City Thunder
                            Round 1/ Pick 29 – PG Kameron Backus/ Kansas
                            Round 2/ Pick 11 – SG K.D. Lee/ Xavier
                            Round 2/ Pick 29 – SG Keith Davenport/ UAB

                            Grade: C-
When ddyou are good every year, you don’t expect to get a franchise guy in the draft so you start to take chances that other teams can’t necessarily afford to take and I think they did that here with Backus. Backus is ridiculously athletically and there is a chance that if he develops some other aspects of his game, he could be a serious steal for the Thunder and a viable backup to Westbrook. The Thunder got a C- grade because I think K.D. Lee and Davenport were both terrible picks as I had neither on my big board to get drafted.

                            Orlando Magic
                            Round 1/ Pick 7 – SG Jadar Choice/ Mercer
                            Round 2/ Pick 5 – PG Nick Donato/ Georgetown
                            Round 2/ Pick 17 – PF Montez Painter/ Virginia

                            Grade: A-
So Victor Oladipo isn’t at all a bad player but I think many people are starting to wonder if he was worthy of that top three pick several years prior. Because of that, I think that with Oakman and Hill off the board, the Magic did the right thing drafting the seasoned shooting guard out of Mercer that create his own shot and hit the jumper off the dribble with the best of them. In addition, they got a guy that I had rated as a top twenty player (Nick Donato) in the second round and should help the club’s perimeter shooting woes. Painter is also a young man that isn’t ready to be an NBA player now but I think he has a higher ceiling than most in the second round. Not much to lose there.

                            Philadelphia 76ers
                            Round 1/ Pick 1 – SG Che King/ Syracuse
                            Round 1/ Pick 5 – SF Rayshaud Hill/ Kentucky
                            Round 1/ Pick 25 – PG JaDamion Deveaux/ UCLA

                            Grade: A+
I know my colleague Dreece will disagree with me but I think that Philly had the best draft of any team. Let me explain myself. The 76ers have spent the last three years selecting big men and are now at the point where they are waiting to see what comes of them. Okafor looks promising and Nerlens has shown flashes as well. So with the first pick, the 76ers go with Che King out of Syracuse who is one of if not the safest pick in the draft. He WILL be the starter soon and possibly from Day 1. 4 picks later they had the opportunity to take the proven SF out of LSU (Kiante Oakman) but they opted to take the guy that I have rated as my number 1 prospect (Rayshaud Hill) because of his upside. Even if Hill doesn’t explode into a superstar he is already a good player that will contribute no matter what (offcourt issues aside). To finish off, they draft JaDamion Deveaux who was my number one rated point guard on the board. He slipped out of the lottery after some terrible workouts but he still has the potential to be a stud in my opinion. The 76ers had the best draft in my opinion. They could very well have locked in a young nucleus of a starting lineup solely from their past 2 drafts. Their new head coach Isaac Shakur definitely has some molding opportunities here.

                            Phoenix Suns
                            Round 1/ Pick 6 – SF Kiante Oakman/ LSU
                            Round 2/ Pick 1 – PF Martin Rey/ Spain
                            Round 2/ Pick 4 – PF Reggie Charles/ Tulane

                            Grade: A
Everyone knows Kiante Oakman is one of my favorite players so it is no surprise that I was excited about this pick. Oakman is a small forward that has the potential to be a top five defender in the league and is also very reliable from behind the arc. Even if Oakman doesn’t start from day 1, he is definitely ready to get some major minutes. In round 2 they took Martin Rey who has the potential to be a reliable bench player but is another overseas import and Reggie Charles the senior scorer from Tulane. I definitely approve of the Sun’s draft.

                            Portland Trail Blazers
                            Round 1/ Pick 17 – PF David White/ Illinois

                            Grade: C+
Is Noah Vonleh the replacement for LaMarcus Aldridge? Probably not and I am certain that David White isn’t either but I feel that White can bring this team some added athleticism and versatility. He will be a welcome addition running those fast breaks with their two stud guards but he isn’t going to make this team that much better.

                            Sacramento Kings
Round 1/ Pick 19 – PF Zorka Voskovec/ Czech Republic
                            Round 2/ Pick 28 – C Daniel Glover / Kansas State

                            Grade: B
The Kings needed someone at the 4 and who better at pick 19 than the big man from the Czech Republic. Zorka is a classic post scorer and at 270 pounds isn’t afraid to throw his body around. That should make for an interesting pairing with Cosuins in the frontcourt and some nice options for Rondo if the Kings can retain him. They also got a steal in the 2nd round in my opinion with Daniel Glover who I have ranked at 42 on my Big Board. Not a bad draft at all.

                            San Antonio Spurs
                            Round 1/ Pick 28 – SF Ryan Harrak/ NIgeria

                            Grade: B-
I would have liked to see the Spurs draft a center or possibly a point guard with Duncan on his way out and Parker getting there. However, the Spurs always seem to know something we don’t about those foreigners and Harrak is a young man that I think will surprise some people four to five years from now.

                            Toronto Raptors
                            Round 1/ Pick 13 – C Rashad Davidson/ Alabama
                            Round 1/ Pick 27 – PF Dontay Keane/ Michigan

                            Grade: A-
Yes I know the Raptors have Jonas to man the middle but the reason that Rashad Davidson is good at this spot is because he can play the 4. He is a good rebounder and a very good three point shooter so I think he will definitely get some time there. Dontay Keane is a young man with a lot of hops and a lot of potential. Personally I think he will become a good player and look to be one of the few steals here at the bottom of the first round.

                            Utah Jazz
Round 1/ Pick 9 – SG Jarious Johnson/ North Carolina
                            Round 2/ Pick 9 – C Jamie Fernandez/ Miami (FL)
                            Round 2/ Pick 18 – C Manuel Fernandez/ Spain
Round 2/ Pick 30 – SG Dominic LaSalle/ Utah State

                            Grade: C
I don’t know about this one. Although I had Jarious Johnson as my number 9 rated prospect, I don’t know how he fits in with a group of Gordon Hayward, Trey Burke and Dante Exum Although Burke is figured to be the odd man out according to recent reports. I think Jamie Fernandez is a great pick as an early second rounder as well.

                            Washington Wizards
                            Round 1/ Pick 3 – PF Jabbar Wilson/ Kansas

                            Grade: A
They did what they were supposed to do here so there isn’t a whole lot to talk about. Jabbar Wilson is another safe pick and he’s probably better than any Power Forward that they have on their roster right now. If things go as planned, they got their PF for the future so what more can you ask for?

Former Cavs head coach David Blatt is days away from signing on to coach the Brooklyn Nets next season. Contract details are not yet determined.

David Aldridge reports that the Raptors could be making a play to acquire Kevin Durant. Aldridge says that everyone on the team aside from DeRozan and Lowry could be made available.

Rookie Tre'von Burgess says in an interview that he couldn't be happier to be in Denver. He also goes on to say that he could never see himself in Charlotte & how he never saw Michael Jordan as the greatest player ever.

League sources saying that Durant's current team (OKC), Golden State & Washington are all planning on clearing space to bid for Kevin Durant.

Atlanta Hawks GM says that they consider Dennis Schroder their PG of the future and that they hope to land a big name player this offseason.

Dwight Howard says that he wants to stay in Houston and plans to meet with James Harden over the summer to iron out their differences.
