Wow I'm so sorry I missed this! Glad to see you back Deuce and I'll definitely be following!

Great job in your first two years and getting into the tourney! Could you be the #12 seed that makes a Cinderella run this year?

UCR FALLS TO ORANGE IN OPENING ROUND

Syracuse's offense was unstoppable in the 1st half as the Orange took a commanding 50-37 lead over the Highlanders, despite SR PG L. Troutman doing his best to keep UCR in the game hitting 3/3 from 3pt and leading his team with 14 1st half points.

The Orange didn't let up in the 2nd half extending their lead by another 10 pionts as they walked away with a (87-64) victory in the opening round of 64.

Troutman led UCR in the loss with 21 pts hitting 5/6 from 3pt well Freshman R. Gordon added 15 pts 5 reb 3 assists and 2 blks as well

For Syracuse 4 players scored in double digits led by PG V. McDainels 23 pts 5 rebs 5 steals and C. O' Donell's double double of 19 pts and 15 rebounds.

SCOTT ANNOUNCES HE WILL NOT RETURN.

Reports are Coach Ryne Scott has announced he is turning down a 3 year extension with UCR and instead will enter the coaching portal. Rumors are several top programs like Syracuse, UConn and Arizona are all looking at replacing potential retiring coaches and Gonzaga's Mark Few is the #1 choice for any of those 3 schools, leaving Gonzaga as a potential destination for a upcoming coach like Scott. Reports are Boise State however is Scott's #1 choice and that the Broncos are most likely going to offer Scott a 3 year deal to take over a Bronco program that went 9-19 Overall and 4-12 in WAC play this past season.

            Roster Preview

Coach Ryne Scott had some hard decisions to make after the Blue and Orange game as he looked to set the roster for the upcoming season. The Broncos returned 4 starters from a squad that won just 9 games the year before along with 4 bench players who all saw minutes, with Scott adding 3 incoming freshman to the mix.

It was clear after the game that 6'11 Chen Yan from China would not suit up this season and instead will use his redshirt. A walkon that was apart of Coach Scott's first recruiting class could play a role in the Bronco's future.

As far as the present it was clear from Day 1 that Freshman Guard Dominic Nagata would play a huge role for the Broncos for the next 4 yeas. Already the best player on the team (75 Overall) and one of the best 3pt shooters (82). Nagata at 6'4 had the ability to play with the ball in his hands as well as the off-guard. Coach Scott decided he would start his career at SG. That left the PG job left to be decided. Senior Roy RIchardson was probably the 2nd best player on the team (73 Overall) and had 2 years experierence starting (25/25 last season and 29/29 the year before). He has a career avg of 8.0 PPG and 3.0 APG with 1.3 SPG but a 3pt% of just 28%. Soph Ralph Cowans was a 2* recruit last season and the Mr BB from Great Falls MT. Cowans started 23 of 24 games played as a freshman and finished with a 6.3 PPG and 3.0 APG hitting 17/28 from 3PT (28%). Both listed at 6'0, it appeared that the PG job was up for grabs.

Fellow Soph, 6'6 Dannorris Andres (68 Overall) started 28/28 games as a Freshman. and averaged 8.0 PPG and 6.0 RPG. He locked down the starting SF job for now, but his lack of 3PT shooting (17%) might not keep in in the lineup forever. Another Soph from last year's class that started all 28 games was 6'11 Randall Len Bullicer. The former 2* from Sparks Nevada had a solid campaign in the post with a average of 8.3 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.1 SPG and 1.3 BPG. He will start at Center.

That left the other forward spot wide open among last year's bench players. RS SR Cal Whitney (67 Overall) looked good in the scrimmage. Listed at 6'8 259 lbs, Whitney put up 7.3 PPG and 5.8 RPG after transfering in from a juco school last year, but same could be said of the 7'0 Jesus Kennedy (67 Overall). The Junior played in all 28 games last year after coming offer from Northern Idaho College. Kennedy averaged 6.4 PPG and 2.8 RPG.

The Dark Horse however was 6'8 Freshman Vvtas Robinson (67 Overall). A high school teammate of Len Bullicer from Nevada, Robinson was a 2* rated #515 Overall in last year's class. Of the 3, Robinson is the only one with the ability to streatch the floor with (69) 3pt shooting ability.

Rounding out the bench is a pair versitle players. Soph 6'6 Joespeh Toole (64 overall) started 6 games last season. The 3* local talent from Boise finished the season with a 7.4 PPG, 2.3 RPG and 3.2 APG showing the ability to play 1-3 spots on the court with a nice shot from the outside (71 rated, made 30/72 42%). Junior Jermey Plummer (64 Overall) has 2 things going for him. 1)-His size 6'7 and 2)-He can shoot (84 3pt rating). Plummer has seen limited action in his previous 2 seasons but when he did play he hit 3's. (34/62 55%). Expect to see both players play bigger minutes this year.

            The Non-Conference Schedule.

Coach Scott wanted to stay close to home and really showcase his team and his coaching style in front of local recruits, so the non-conference schedule is a mix of Northwest schools as well as keeping his Cali ties with previous opponents inlcuding a road game back @ UC Riverside. The one lone game for the Broncos this season will be a trip to Cameron Arena to take on the #2 Duke Blue Devils on Christmas Eve. Here is a look at the whole non-conference schedule.

            11/8- vs Portland State
            11/10- @ Idaho State
            11/14 vs Saint Mary's
            11/21 @ UC Riversdie
            11/23 @ Gonzaga
            11/25 @ Oregon
            11/28 vs UC Santa Barbara
            12/5 vs Montana State
            12/9 vs Santa Clara
            12/13 @ UNLV
            12/16 vs Wyoming
            12/19 @ New Mexico
            12/24 @ #2 Duke

            Conferene Outlook.

After just 4 wins last year in WAC play, Coach Scott believe there is room to improve. With a Big West title in Year 1 and a Big West Tournament win in Year 2, BSU fans are hoping it's a quick improvement.

BSU isn't the highest rated team in the division (77 Overall) and isn't expected to finish any better then 7 out of 9, but that won't stop Coach Scott from trying. Here is a look at the other 8 teams.

Utah State (81 Overall) and Nevaad (81 Overall) are the teams to beat. Utah State won the regular season title last year going (12-4) but lost in the WAC Championships against Nevada who has represented the WAC the past 2 years in the Big Dance. The Wolfpack won the WAC title 2 years ago going 24-8 Overall. Nevada is led by WAC FOY C. Wilson (79). Wilson is considred the front runner for the WAC POY last year after averaging 9.2 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.3 SPG and 1.7 BPG as a Freshman.

Utah State has a talened PG in M. Modrovich (76 Overall) considered to be the Best Playmaker in the conference.

Fresno State (81 Overall) will be tough and good for the next couple of years with 5 Soph's on the roster including 3 starters (All rated 75 Overall)

La Tech (79 Overall) is a experienced group with 4 Seniors and 5 Juniors on the roster led by SR SG D. Braxton (78 Overall) who is considered to be the Best Pro prospect in the conference.

New Mexico State (78 Overall) is one of the teams Boise State hopes to catch. They have talent in Soph SF P. Toussaint (76 OVerall) and JR T. McIntosh (76 Overall) but not alot of depth behind their starting 5.

Hawaii (76 Overall), Idaho (76 Overall) and San Jose State (76 Overall) are the 3 teams most feel like Coach Scott needs to beat in Year 1, but don't count out any of them.

They all have talented players. San Jose State brought in Freshman Omari Sanchez (75) who will push Nagata for the FOY Award. Hawaii has a talent at SF in Brooks Sparks (78 Overall) and Idaho landed 7'0 Boise native Dylan Boekermann (74 Overall) who turned down Boise State opening up the scholarship offer to Nagata. He took could give Nagata and Sanchez a run at the FOY

NOT OFF TO A GREAT START!!

The Coach Scott Era in Boise didn't get off to the start that Bronco fan's were hoping for as the Broncos fall in their first 2 games finally winning in Game 3 as they start (1-2) on the season. Here is a recap of the first 3 games.

                  GAME 1 VS PORTLAND STATE

PSU started hot and scored 8 points before the first BSU bucket. The Vikings dominated the offense boards getting 8 2nd chance points in the 1st half and 6'8 JR SF Niemer Snow (77 3pt) was on fire hitting 3/3 from 3pt to lead all scorers with 16 pts in the 1st half as PSU took a (39-24) lead at the half.

In the 2nd half BSU would make a run and with 3 minutes to play the Broncos pulled within 9 points but a pair of missed shots followed led to a PSU 7-0 run that built the lead back to 16 with less then 2 minutes to play and in the 2nd it was to much as BSU falls (82-67).

Snow led all scorers with 26 points as he finished 4/6 from deep. PSU's 7'2 FR Lebo Watkins also cleaned up the boards in the 2nd half finishing with a double double in his first college game as he goes 18 pts and 12 rebounds. PSU also got 14 pts and 7 assists from SR PG X. Horner.

For BSU it was FR D. Nagata leading the way with 14 pts despite shooting just 3/8 from 3pt. Len Bullicer (9 pts 7 reb) and J. Kennedy (9 pts 5 reb) combined to give the Broncos some presence inside the paint well SO R. Cowans appears to have won out the PG spot moving forward finishing with a team high 7 assists.

It was a rough night for JR J. Plummer who entered the game with a 52 3pt career % but saw that drop after going just 2-11 from deep.

                  GAME 2 @ iDAHO STATE

The offense woes continued for BSU in their first road game of the season as Idaho State jumps out to a (37-29) lead in the 1st half. The Bengals did a great job on defense as they realized that Nagata was the man to stop. After leading the Broncos with 14 pts in the season opener, Nagata ended the night with just 3 points as he goes 1/5 from the field and 1/4 from 3pt. With Nagata in check, things got worse as Plummer plays just 2 minutes before exiting with a injury, leaving the rest of the team to combine for just 1/7 from 3pt.

JR C. Whitney led BSU in the loss with a double double of 12 pts and 10 rebs.

                  GAME 3 VS SAINT MARY'S

Boise's first win of the season. The Broncos led at the half (37-35) after a bucket at the buzzer by R. Len Bullicer and it was another buzzer beater at the end as Nagata comes up with a huge 3pt shot with 2.1 seconds to play with the game tied as BSU wins (77-74).

                  Coach Scott
"I put the ball in Nagata's hands at the end of the game because even though he is a Freshman, he is our leader and the guy we expect to help us win close games."
Nagata would finish the night with just 9 pts hitting 3/7 from 3pt but he did dish out a team high 6 assists.

The Broncos were led by Len Bullicer who had 14 pts and 6 rebs, well C, Whitney added 11 pts and 7 rebs. SF D Andres had his best game of the season as well adding 11 pts.

UP NEXT BSU WILL TRAVEL TO TAKE ON COACH SCOTT'S FORMER TEAM IN UC RIVERSIDE.

Thanks for checking in and the comments. Yeah I don't expect a run a WAC title this year or even next but what I would like to do is at least get up there in the Top-3 or 4 teams in the conference maybe try and finish higher then .500 and maybe make a run at a NIT bid, but with a couple recruiting class's it's my hope that in a couple years I can at least challenge those guy's

Yeah I have run BSU legacies in the past depending on what roster file I start with it's pretty common they fire their coach in the first 2 seasons. They are my favorite team in real life as he grew up going to games and my brother is still a season ticket holder.

Back in the day and still in this game it seems like Nevada and Utah State are always the teams to beat but you are right there are other teams who can be sneaky each year.

                      Thanks for commenting/checking in..

                        BRONCO'S/SCOTT FALL TO FORMER TEAM!!

Facing former players is always tough but returning to the school you help build up is even tougher. The UCR sold out crowd was crazy tonight as they came to make Coach Scott think he might have made a mistake in leaving.

The Highlanders entered the game just 0-2 on the season but had been dealing with some early injuries. However tonight they had their full starting 5 which included 3 Freshman (B. Kohn, D. Low and E. Lagana) all whom Coach Scott had offered scholarships before leaving plus Soph's G. Mann and R. Gordon who started last year for Scott as well.

Low showed why he was Scott's first choice at coming in at SG as he scores 8 early points to help the Highlanders to a early lead. UCR would continue to add to the lead as Mann also ends up with 8 points before the half to help UCR to a (46-41) lead.

The Highlanders however would get some help off the bench in the 2nd half in the form of someone Coach Scott never really gave a chance. Junior SG G. Hite would come off the bench to hit 4/4 from 3pt and score 16 points total to help UCR to a 6 point lead with under 2 minutes to play as the Highlander roll BSU for their 1st win of the season (97-88).

5 players score in double digits as Mann finished with a team high 18 points, Low added 17, Hite's 16 off the bench, plus Gordon (14 pts 7 reb) and Lagana's 12 pts and 9 reb. Kohn added a team high 10 assists.

For BSU Freshman D. Nagata had his career night in the loss scoring 29 points well hitting 5/10 from downtown. The Frenchman R. Len Bullicer added 19 pts and 5 reb well C. Whitney (11 pts 4 reb 4 ast) both played well in the post. 7'0 Jesus Kennedy led the bench with 10 pts as well.

The Broncos road trip won't get any easier as they take on (5-1) Gonzaga inside the Kennel on Monday followed by a matchup with (5-1) Oregon in Eugene on Wednesday.

Gonzaga coming off their first loss of the season on the road against #3 Michigan suffer their worst loss in the past 3 years at home in what could be the biggest upset of the season.

Boise State came out on fire hitting 5/5 from beyond the arc in the 1st half to take a commanding lead that led a a double digit lead going into the locker room (45-33) as Nagata scores 9 pts and PG Cowans adds 8 to lead the way.

A early 3rd foul would send Nagata to the bench early in the 2nd half but JR J. Plummer answers the call with a pair of 3's as he scores 8 2nd half points in his absence. With a commanding lead BSU would step away from the 3pt game and instead go inside as Frenchie R. Len Bullicer scores 12 of his team high 17 points to lead the Broncos to victory. Final Score (85-69).

BOISE STATE WINS 5TH IN A ROW!!

It was Boise State coming out on top vs Santa Clara in the "Battle of the Broncos" as BSU moves to 6-3 on the season. BSU took a (39-31) lead at the half as the team hits 4/5 from 3pt including 3/3 from backup SF Jake Plummer who scored 9 pts to lead the team.

                              Scott
"Plummer struggled early in the season to find his shot but you could tell tonight he felt good.. He knows I have faith in him and so when he has a open look I 100% want him to take that shot"

Sadly Plummer would leave the 2nd half early with what appeared to be a ankle sprain, so his potential career night was cut short as he miss's his only 3pt attempt on the night and finishes with 11 pts, but BSU's starting backcourt of Soph R. Cowans (11 pts) and Freshman D. Nagata (10 pts 4 reb 3 assists) lead the way in the victory. Final Score Boise State-78 Santa Clara-69

UNLV SNAPS BOISE STATE'S WIN STREAK!!

The UNLV Rebels came into the game (8-1) and showed why they are a favorite to win the Mountain West this season.

UNVL uses a big backcourt with 6'6 Junior H. Haigler running the point and 6'9 Senior R. Drake at SG. Both players played big roles in the win as did 7'0 Soph J. Nashif

Boise State actually lead (37-36) at the half as the Broncos continue to shoot well from beyond the arc, but the trio of Rebels came up big. Nashif (Last year's Mr BB from Las Vegas) showed his hometown he is going to be a force as he continues to add to a great season total (14.3 PPG) as he scores a team high 17 pts. Drake added 16 pts and 7 reb well Haigler added 10 pts.

The Broncos had a chance to win it at the end but Nagata's buzzer beater was off target as the Rebels survive the upset. FINAL SCORE UNLV-72-71

Nagata finished tied for the team high in points with 14 and added a solid stat line across the board with 5 rebs 6 assists and 5 steals, but was just 3/13 from the Field and 3/7 from 3pt.

                                R. "The Frenchman" Len Bulliver continues to step into a huge leadership role as he adds 14 pts and 8 reb and Soph D. Andres started at PF in replace for a injured C. Whitney added 7 rebs and a team high 11 rebs.

With Andres at PF, Plummer saw extra action at SF and came back from his injury to score 8 pts on 2/4 3pt.
