WILL THE BRONCOS REPEAT??

Boise State (86) has won 3 straight WAC Regular Season Championships and this year actually have the highest rated team in the conference with a roster loaded with talent. RS FR PG W. Blancett (76) is considered the "Best Freshman". SR PG D. Nagata (79) is the "Best Playmaker" and JR PF V. Rasmussen (80) is considered to be the "Best Defender". Add in former 5* SG J. Moore joining the starting lineup and NCCA FOY C. Toumou ready for his 2nd season, I like their chances.

If anyone is going to knock them off the throne, it's probably Nevada (85). The Wolfpack won the WAC conference tournament beating BSU twice last year including the championship game. JR Center Reid Montrimas (83) is considered the "Best Pro Prospect"

Fresno State (80), San Jose State (80) Utah State (79) Idaho (79), Hawaii (79), New Mexico State (76) and La Tech (76) will all fight to see if anyone can step up and help the WAC repeat with 4 teams in the NCAA tournament.

BRONCOS JUMP INTO POLL'S WITH PERFECT START!!

Despite being a Top-25 fixture at the end of the season and despite playing in back to back Elite 8 appearances in the NCAA tournament, Boise State once again found themselves outside the Top-25 Media Poll at the start of the season.

However a perfect 4-0 start at home to kick off the year including at win over #22 ranked BYU now has BSU not only #19 in the Media Poll but also #22 in the Coaches Poll. Here is a look at the 4 game recap.

GAME 1 VS IDAHO STATE

For the 2nd year in a row, BSU played host to Idaho State to kickoff the season. The Broncos would take a pretty commanding (41-26) lead into the half well the Bengals made a push in the 2nd half only to be outscored by 3 points FINAL SCORE 79-61

V. Rasmussen had 20 pts and 6 rebounds well C. Toumou added 16 pts and 7 rebounds to go with 2 block shots.

I. Dilligard added 11 pts on 3/4 from 3pt well D. Nagata added 12 pts and 3 assists.

J. Moore was the only starter not in double digits as he had just 3 points but he did add 4 rebounds and a team high 4 assists.

W. Blancett led the bench with 8 pts hitting 2/4 from deep.

GAME 2 VS #22 BYU

**New School/Dynasty scoring record**

Boise State was on fire in both halves leading (65-47) at the break. Coach Scott started his starting unit to open the 2nd half but quickly pulled them to give his 2nd unit more playing time. BYU however never gave up shooting 3's whenever they got a chance (14/32) as H. Ballinger tried to get the Cougars back in the game (30 pts 6/16 3pt).

With the Cougars just firing away Coach Scott pulled back the press but continued to run his offense wide open with the Broncos connecting on 16/19 from deep. FINAL SCORE BSU-139 BYU-104

Freshman 3* H. Hampton came up clutch playing as many minutes as the starters and finished with a career/season high 28 pts with 6 rebounds in just his 2nd game.

V. Rasmussen added 21 pts 7 reb and 4 assists hitting 3/3 from deep to show off his range.

Toumou added 19 pts well J. Moore had 15 pts and a team high 7 assists also going a perfect 3/3 from deep.

I. Dilligard added 13 pts and tied Moore with 7 assists.

Freshman D. Bennett (15 pts 3/3 3pt) and V. Robinson (12 pts 6 reb 2/2 3pt) joined Hampton off the bench in double digits.

BSU VS USF

Boise State followed up Tuesday's game by hosting San Francisco on Saturday. BSU took a (42-30) lead into the half but the Don's Defense stepped up in the 2nd half holding the Broncos to just 25 pts. Luckily a pair of late 3's gave BSU the 6 point lead in the final minute. FINAL SCORE BSU-67 USF-61

Rasmussen (10 pts 7 rebounds 4 blks) and I. Dilligard (10 pts 1/5 3pt) lead the starters well C. Toumou added 6 pts 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Off the Bench it was Walkon R. Pekkola scoring 11 pts hitting 3/4 from deep.

BSU VS SAN DIEGO STATE

For the first time this season, BSU trailed at the half (37-36) but scored 51 pts in the 2nd half as the offense once again caught fire. FINAL SCORE 87 -72

C Toumou led the team with his first double double of the season (17 pts and 10 rebounds well also adding another 4 blks.

D. Nagata had a season high 17 pts as well going 3/7 from deep and finished with a team high 4 assists.

W. Blancett led the bench with 11 pts hiting 1/3 from deep.


BSU WILL NOW TAKE ON #9 (3-2) UCLA NEXT. THE BRUINS STARTED THE YEAR 3-0 BUT LOST @ #16 HOUSTON FOLLOWED BY A 3 POINT LOSS @ MINNESOTA. CAN THEY STAY UNDEFEATED AT HOME VS BSU OR WILL THE BRONCOS CLAIM ANOTHER VICTORY A PAULEY PAVILLON

BRONCOS CONTINUE TO ROLL MOVE TO TOP-10!!

After a 4-0 start at home including a win over #22 BYU, Boise State continued to showcase themselves as one of the best teams in the nation with a perfect 4-0 on the road, moving to 8-0 on the year and a Top-10 ranking in the Media Poll.

BSU started their road trip with a win over #9 UCLA who came into the game having dropped their past 2 games on the road. The victory now makes Coach Scott 3-2 vs UCLA with all 3 of his wins coming at Pauly Pavilion.

When asked about his teams quick start after losing 3 olayer's who started the past 2 years that took the team to Elite 8 appearances, Coach Scott had this to say.

"To be honest, Cowans, Andres and Len Bullicer were a huge part of our past success, but the guy's we brought in are actually higher rated and skilled overall. Our team now has 8 guy's who are very capable of shooting the ball from deep on any give night and Toumou and Hampton are 2 very talented BIG's. Toumou if given enough looks could easily score 20-30 points a night if that was our focus. and Hampton showed us what he is capable of in the BYU game when he dropped 28."

Here is a look at the past 4 road wins.

@ #9 UCLA (65-54)

BSU scored a season low 22 points in the 1st half and found themselves down (33-22) at the break but the 2nd half it was UCLA who couldn't buy a bucket as the Bruins finished 5/21 from beyond the arc scoring just 21 points.

BSU didn't fare much better beyond the arc, but luckily for them SO C. Toumou came through with a big game scoring 18 points to lead all scorers. Jeremy Moore added 9 pts 4 reb 4 assists and 3 steals well V. Robinson lead the bench with 9 pts and 5 rebs.

@ OREGON STATE (84-68)

The Beavers started their year 5-0 but lost to #21 Texas 2 days prior to playing BSU at home and dropped to 0-2 vs Top-25 teams after the loss.

BSU started strong and look a double digit lead early and led (47-38) at the half, and continued to outscore the Beavers in the 2nd half as well (37-30).

For a 2nd game in a row C. Toumou led all scorers as he puts up 24 pts and grabs 9 rebounds. Toumou was a beast on the defensive side too with 4 steals and 4 blocks.

Isiah Dilligard added 16 pts hitting 3/6 from deep well D. Nagata had 15 pts going 4/8 from 3pt as well.

H. Hampton led the bench with 10 pts and 7 rebounds

@ WASINGTON STATE (61-56)

BSU made it 3-0 vs Pac-10 teams over the span of 10 days, and like OSU, the Cougars came in with a solid 7-2 record including a road win over Michigan, but had lost 3 nights earlier on the road @ Baylor.

It was a low scoring affair with both teams struggling to find their shooting stroke with BSU taking a (27-23) lead into the half. Things didn't fair much better in the 2nd half but the Broncos still managed a 1 point victory in the half (34-33) for the 5 point win.

WSU was led by former Mr BB Idaho SR PG F. Ellis who Coach Scott had tried to recruit in his first year at BSU. Ellis finished with 10 points but was just 3/10 from downtown.

"I offered Ellis with my only scholarship available but he chose WSU so I offered it to Nagata who I had been recruiting well at UCR. In the end I think worked out better for us to be honest"

For BSU it was a inside scoring game as the Broncos finish just 6/13 from 3pt, with C. Toumou leading the way for the 3rd straight game with 15 pts and 8 rebounds. V. Rasmussen added 12 pts and 5 rebounds well R. Pekkola led the bench with 6 points hitting 1/2 from deep.

@ (6-4) GONZAGA (71-69)

Another big win inside the Kennel and another roller coaster start for the Zag's.

Gonzaga opened the year 3-0 with wins over Hawaii and UNLV before losing to Arizona. then they bounced back with a nice road win over Stanford, before losing back to back to New Mexico and Sacramento State the week before hosting BSU.

Gonzaga actually led this game by double digits at the half (45-30) but the Broncos never gave up hitting 5/13 from deep after going just 2/10 in the 1st half.

The Defense also showed up in the 2nd half limiting Gonzaga to just 24 points as the Zags finish the game with 16 turnovers.

Gonzaga was led by SR SG B. Spencer who had 19 pts and a team high 6 assists. Spencer is considered a 1st round lock in the draft.

Freshman D. Mbaha Moute (5* AA Mr BB WA) who turned down a BSU scholarship finished with 4 pts and 6 assists well Soph SG K. Wellington (4* Mr BB Idaho) who also turned down a BSU scholarship finished with 5 points off the bench in just 12 minutes.

Reports are Wellington is considered the transfer portal at the end of the year.

For BSU it was I. Dilligard with a season high 18 pts as he hits 2/6 from deep. R. Pekkola led the bench with 12 pts and 6 rebounds well hitting 1/2 from beyond the arc.

Toumou (9 pts 7 rebounds) and V. Rasmussen (6 pts 8 rebounds) both scored a season low.

BSU WIL RETURN HOME FOR A GAME VS (5-2) WYOMING BEFORE CLOSING OUT NON-CONFERENCE PLAY WITH 3 MORE GAMES VS THE PAC-10, STARTING WITH OREGON AT HOME AND ARIZONA STATE AND ARIZONA ON THE ROAD.

HISTORY MADE!!!

For Boise State their perfect 8-0 start continued and now has become a historic season as the Broncos win 4 more to move to 12-0 on the year with a perfect non-conference winning streak. For BSU it's the best start in school history and never has the team finished non-conference play without a loss. It is also the best start in Coach Scott's career as well as the young coach moves to 141-41 lifetime. At 31, Coach Scott has jumped to the head of every school's search committee as they look for a new head coach next year as well as schools with current coaches rumored to be retiring at the end of the season.

Rumors are several schools from the Big East (DePaul, St John's, and Syracuse have all made contract). Reports are Coach K is leaning toward retiring at the end of the season and many from Duke nation would love for Coach Scott to take over giving them a coach that could keep tradition going for the next 30 years. Other schools who also have expressed interest are Iowa, Penn State and Northwestern from the Big Ten and Ole Miss and South Carolina from the SEC.

Another surprising fact about the Bronco's perfect start is the fact Boise State finished a perfect 6-0 against Pac-10 teams, yet not a single school is looking to make a change at this point.

VS WYOMING (84-71)

The Cowboys kept things close in the first half, trailing by just 4 (44-40) but struggled shooting the ball from beyond the arc in the 2nd half finishing just 7/21 from 3pt.

For Boise 4 players hit double digits including 3 starters but it was Walkon SG R. Pekkola who led all scorers with 19 pts as he goes a perfect 3/3 from deep.

V. Rasmussen (15 pts 8 reb), C. Toumou (14 pts 8 reb) and I. Dilligard (13 pts) also joined him.

VS OREGON (80-76)

Boise Sate cruised to a double digit lead going into the locker room (49-34) but the Ducks shot they were back into the game led by 7'1 Senior Kory Zroric who entered the game averaging 21 PPG. Zoric would score a career high 42 pts including 4/5 from 3pt and 14/16 from the charity stripe, but he was the only Duck to hit double digits.

For BSU they were led by C. Toumou who had 20 pts and 6 rebounds. Senior D. Nagata added 11 pts and 8 assists hitting 2/3 from 3pt, well Dilligard added 10 pts.

@ Arizona State (91-79)

The Sun Devils honestly looked like they had stopped the streak and knocked off the Broncos as they took a commanding (49-36) lead at the half thanks to a perfect 6/6 from 3pt.

ASU would continue to shoot the ball well from deep finishing the night 14/27, but BSU was on fire as well hitting 11/18 from deep and managed to outscore ASU (55-30) in the 2nd half.

The backcourt of FR T. Ray (17 pts 3/5 3pt) and JR SG S. Modica (20 pts 5/9 3pt) led the way for ASU.

For Boise Sate it was C. Toumou leading the starting unit with 19 pts and 7 rebounds, well Dilligard added 14 pts and J. Moore had 11 pts 6 rebounds and 9 assists. But it was RS JR Vvtas Robinson who was given the POG honors as he scores a career high 19 pts and grabs 6 rebounds well hitting 2/2 from deep.

@ #22 ARIZONA (100-69)

The Wildcats came into the game ranked with a 10-3 record including a road win over Gonzaga in the Kennel, but Boise State's offense was on tonight as the Broncos hit the century mark for the 2nd time this season.

Boise State once again had a commanding lead at the half (51-32) and once again finished the night shooting the ball well from deep (10/19)

SR PG D. Nagata led the way with 22 pts 6 assists (2/4 3pt)
SO C. Toumou finished with a double double of 21 pts and 10 rebounds to go with 3 steals and 2 blks.

V. Rasmussen also added 11 pts 6 reb 3 steals and 3 bllks.

Off the Bench, it was R. Pekkola wih 16 pts (3/5 3pt) who also had a team high 4 steals and W. Blancett who added 12 pts and 3 assists.

RANKED

With BSU adding 4 more wins and finishing non-conference at 12-0 they are now ranked #8 in the Top-25 Media Poll, their highest rating in school history.

They are also #15iin the Coaches Poll and of course are #1 in the Mid-Major Poll.


UN SIGNED!!

Coach Scoot went into the season with 3 scholarships available despite only SR PG. D. Nagata graduating.

BSU went hard after 5* PG H. Watts (AA Mr BB NV) but Watt's appears close o signing with Arizona.

BSU also went big after 5* AA Don Rollins (Mr BB CA, #20 Overall/#1 C) but it appears that Rollins has his heart set on UCLA with BSU trailing in the #3 spot on his Top-5 behind Arizona as well.

With Watts and Rollins officially off the Broncos radar, Coach Scott is currently offering 2 scholarships.

4* 6'7 SG Evan Traore (#38 Overall/#4 SG, Mr BB AZ). However Traore has Arizona #1 despite the Wildcats not currently offering. with BSU #2.

3* 6'3 PG Francisco Sessoms (#258 Overall/#76 PG, Mr BB ID)..
Sessoms has BSU #1 but Idaho State is currently #2 and is offering a scholarship as well as a chance to be a 4 year starter playing right away.


INJURY UPDATE

RS JR V. Robinson was injured in the Broncos win over Arizona and is expected to miss next 3-4 weeks with a Broken Wrist. BSU will have to play with a 9 man rotation unless they choose to pull he Redshirt off Surov or Siebrant.

The Broncos will also be playing starting SF I. Dilligard with a Broken Finger for the next 5 days.

STAT LEADERS

BSU currently is #1 in the nation in 3PT% hitting .435% (104/239).

C. Toumou leads the Broncos at 16.5 PPG, with 7.3 RPG, 1.5 SPG and 1.8 BPG.

V. Rasmussen is 2nd at 10.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.2 SPG and 1.3 BPG

I. Dilligard is scoring double digits scoring 10.2 PPG well shooting .405% from 3PT (15/37)

WOLPACK SNAP BRONCOS WIN STREAK!!

Boise State opened up WAC play with a pair of wins over La Tech at home (80-53) and a road win over New Mexico State (86-70) to improve to 14-0 but struggled in against Nevada dropping their first game of the season.

Trailing (50-36) at the half to Nevada, BSU would manage to slow down the Pack in the 2nd half but still came out behind (39-34) as they fall (89-70).

Nevada shot 12/31 from deep with SR PG D. Pait leading the way with 19 pts (4/7 3pt). Junior R. Montrimas added 17 pts and 4 rebounds in the post well SF F. Skeeter finished 1 pt shy of a double double with 9 pts and 10 rebs.

In the loss BSU finished the night 7/18 from deep. C. Toumou led the Broncos with 27 pts and 11 rebounds well I. Dilligard added 18 pts on 4/7 from 3pt.

BULLDOGS UPSET BRONCOS AT HOME!!

BSU would rebound on Thursday night with a (96-66) victory over instate rival Idaho as C Toumou drops 24 pts and J. Moore adds a season/career high 18 pts on 3/5 3pt.

But the Broncos would then drop their 2nd game in the past week and their first at home as Fresno State pulls off the 1 point victory at Extra Mile Arena.

Tied (54-54) in a shootout it came down to converting the free ones tonight. The Bulldogs would go just 12/27 from 3pt but hit a impressive 20/24 from the charity stripe well BSU was 8/16 from 3pt but just 25/39 from the free throw line as Fresno pulls off the (94-93) win.

Cory Toumou for the 3rd straight game scored over 20 points as he finishes with a double double of 26 pts and 12 rebounds.

V. Rasmussen also turned in a double double with 15 pts and 10 rebounds well I. Dilligard added 10 pts from the starting unit.

R. Pekkola added 14 pts (3/3 3pt) off the bench well H. Hampton also scored in double digits with 13 pts.

BRONCOS CLIMB BACK TO #9

After suffering their first 2 loss's of the season, Boise State dropped out of the Top-10 to #14 but a 5 game winning streak puts the back to (20-2) on the season giving Coach Scott his 6th straight season with 20 or more wins.

Here is a look the past 5 games

VS UTAH STATE (W) 93-55

The Aggies got 20 points on a combined 5/10 3pt shooting from their starting backcourt of JR O. Bean (11 pts 2/4) and SO T Cage (9 pts 5/6) but the rest of the team went a combined 3/15 from deep. It was a tough night for SO M. Crisp (3* from Pocatello Idaho). Crisp was recruited by Coach Scott to come to Boise but instead choose USU as he goes 0/7 FG scoring 0 points well grabbing a team high 8 rebounds.

For BSU, all 5 starters scored in double digits as the Broncos fall short of hitting the century mark. C. Toumou had another double double with 18 pts and 10 rebounds well D. Nagata added 12 pts and a team high 7 assists.

The BSU bench scored 38 points led by R. Pekkola who also hit double digits adding 10 pts on 2/2 from 3pt.

@ San Jose State (W) 81-52

7'1 SR R. Montgomery had 26 pts and 6 rebounds in the loss from the Spartans who trailed (34-29) at the half but never found their game plan in he 2nd half.

Toumou led the way with 24 pts going a perfect 7/7 from the FT line ,well R. Pekkola adds 18 points off the bench.

VS HAWAII (W) 94-60

A huge night on both ends of the quart. BSU held the Rainbow Warriors to not having a single player hit double digits in points, well BSU dominated the post with Toumou scoring 18 pts and 7 rebounds, V. La Tech trailed 45-19 in the 1st half of their earlier meeting with the Broncos but actually came out ahead leading (42-40) in this rematch before BSU pulled away with the 5 point win in the final seconds.

BSU led (46-30) at the half as SO SG M. Brickens leads the Aggies with 13 pts 2/3 3pt.

For BSU it was a complete team effort with all 5 starters scoring in double digits plus 30 points from the bench, led by W. Blancett with 11 pts 2/3 3p.

BRONCOS GET THEIR REVENGE!!

Boise State got their revenge picking up 3 more wins to improve to (23-2) on the season with victories over both Nevada and Fresno State the only 2 teams to beat BSU this season.


VS NEVADA (W) 73-52

Boise State held the Wolfpack to a school best 14 points in the 1st half taking a (29-14) lead into the locker room. Nevada figured out how to put the ball in the basket in the 2nd half but the Broncos still managed to outscore them (44-38), as BSU finishes the night 50% from beyond the arc (10/20) well the Wolfpack go just 6/21.

SO SG J. Moore had 13 pts on 3/5 f3p well V. Rasmussen also chipped in 13 pts hitting 2/5 from deep.

Isiah Dilligard added 11 pts well Cody Toumou added another double double to his resume with 10 pts and 11 rebounds.



@ FRESNO STATE (W) 96-72

Another big night for the Bronco's offense as hey fall just short of 100 points again. Leading (50-45) at the half this looked like it was going to be a shootout but the Bulldogs struggled in the 2nd half managing just 27 points well BSU continued to knock down big shots finishing the nigh 12/23 from deep and 22/28 from the stripe.

Cody Toumou won the NCAA FOY and the WAC FOY last season averaging 13.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG 1.5 SPG and 1.2 BPG.

So far he is smashing his stats from last year as he scores a team high 17 pts grabs 6 rebounds and blocks 4 shots in the win. On the season Toumou is averaging over 17 PPG over 7 RPG and almost 2 SPG and BPG this year.

Senior D. Nagata added 13 pts 4 reb and 4 assists hitting 2/5 from 3pt well R Pekkola led the bench with 14 pts hitting 4/5 from deep.

@ IDAHO (W) 94-62

Boise State led (40-33) at the half and locked down 7'0 SR D. Boeckmann in the 2nd half holding him to just 4 points as he finishes with a team high 12 pts after entering the game averaging 22.2 PPG. Boeckerman is averaging over 20 PPG for a 2nd straight year and has moved his NBA Draft status to "Dark Horse"

For BSU it was V. Rasmussen scoring a game high 18 pts well also grabbing 4 rebounds and blocking 4 shots.

C. Toumou added 15 pts and finished 1 rebound shy of a double double with 9. Fellow Bigman H. Hampton added 13 pts off the bench, well D. Nagata had 14 pts 4 reb and 5 assists as his career starts to wind down with just 3 regular season games left on the season including "Senior Night" vs San Jose State.

BOISE STATE CLAIMS 3RD STRAIGHT WAC TITLE!!

Coach Scott in 3 straight seasons has led the Broncos to 3 Regular Season WAC Titles as Boise State closes out the year with a (26-2) Record Overall and a (14-2) record in the WAC.

VS UTAH STATE (W) 87-49

Once again the Aggies struggled to score going just 1/10 from 3pt well BSU finished 11/21 hitting over 50% for the 3rd straight game.

Cody Toumou led the way with 18 pts 7 rebounds 4 steals and 4 blocks, but J. Moore (17 pts 5/8 3pt) had a career night and V. Rasmussen added 17 pts on 3/4 3pt with a team high 8 rebounds.

VS SAN JOSE STATE (W) 90-68

Boise State led (39-32) at the half but poured it on in the 2nd half once again finishing over 50% from deep going 13/21 from beyond the arc.

Toumou was POG with 21 pts 10 rebounds and 3 blks, but Senior D. Nagata making his final start in front of the home crowd also had a big games with 15 pts 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals hitting a perfect 3/3 from 3pt.

J. Moore added 11 pts 6 rebounds and 5 assists well going 3/7 from 3pt.

H. Hampton led the bench with 10 pts and had a team high 4 steals.

@ Hawaii (W) 106-76

After finishing with multiple games with over 90 points, the Broncos broke the century mark tonight in their final regular season game of the season. Leading (46-35) at the half, the Broncos could've put it on cruise control but instead, Coach Scott let the bench play some big minutes and continue to run the offense as BSU finishes the night with 4 reserves hitting double digits as BSU hits 13 of 32 3pt attempts.

C. Toumou was still POG scoring a team high 20 pts grabbing a team high 7 rebounds and blocking a team high 5 shots. V. Rasmussen added 10 pts and 6 rebounds but then it was the bench coming up big.

R. Pekkola added 14 pts on 4/7 3pt,. V. Robinson added 13 pts well D. Bennett added 11 pts going 3/4 from 3pt, and H. Hampton added 11 pts and 5 rebounds.

BSU WILL GO IN THE WAC TOURNAMENT AS THE #1 SEED AND HAVE A BYE IN ROUND 1. THEY ARE SCHEDULED TO PLAY THE WINNER OF HAWAII AND NEW MEXICO STATE AND THEN THE WINNER OF SAN JOSE STATE/LA TECH. UTAH STATE WILL PLAY NEVADA AND FRESNO STATE WILL FACE OFF AGAINST IDAHO.

BRONCOS SWEEP TITLES!!!

Boise State survived the upset bid by Nevada in the WAC Championship game to win their 3rd WAC tournament title and give them their 3rd season in 4 years with a sweep.

VS NEW MEXICO (73-63)

The Aggies came out strong in the 1st half as several Bronco starters found themselves in early foul trouble as NMSU took a (39-37) lead into the locker room. But the Broncos would rally in the 2nd half holding the Aggies to just 24 points as the BSU bench came up big scoring 43 of the Broncos 73 points.

R. Pekkola led the way with 14 pts hitting 2/5 from deep well V. Robinson added 12 pts as well.

V. Rasmussen finished 1 pt shy of a double double with 9 pts 10 rebounds, well C. Tourmou had just 8 points on 3/19 from the field

SAN JOSE STATE (85-71)

After struggling in the opener, Cory Toumou faired better in the Semi-Finals leading the team with 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double double on the night. J. Moore added 12 pts on 2/4 3pt well Hampton and Robinson led the bench unit with 10 points a piece.

NEVADA (74-67)

Boise State came out on fire in the 1st half taking a commanding (54-40) lead and never looked back as they got their revenge beating the Wolfpack for a 2nd time this season. All 10 players scored a bucket, but tonight the night belonged to the lone Senior on the squad. PG D. Nagata led all scorers with 17 pts hitting 3/6 from 3pt.

**With the loss, Nevada and Fresno State will both finish with 20 wins and are considered bubble teams. Nevada's RPI is #53.. It look's most likely BSU will be the only team from the WAC this year dancing after 4 teams made (Nevada,Idaho,Utah State and BSU) made it last year.**

It's everyone's favorite Sunday in March, even if you not a huge basketball fan, many people tune in to watch and see what 65 teams will be playing for a chance to be crowned this year's National Champion..

So let's jump right into it and see who secured the #1 seed's and who floated in via the Bubble and who got their Bubble Busted.

North Carolina-East
Michigan State-West

Notre Dame-Midwest.

It was a tough year in the ACC with both Clemson and UNC grabbing #1 seeds. The Tigers finished he season 26-3 but lost to the Tar Heels in the ACC Championship game. UNC will enter the tournament with a 29-4 record and are riding a 6 game win streak that included wins over Clemson and Duke to secure their #1. Michigan State is no stranger to #1 seeds. The Spartans have 8 Final 4 appearances and 3 National Titles to their resume. However for Notre Dame this is new territory. The Irish have only played in 1 Final 4 but this squad is battle tested after going 15-3 in the Big East and finishing 29-4 Overall this season.

The Big East finished the season with the #1 RPI in the nation, with 9 teams head to the Dance with Big East Tournament Champ Villanova joining Louisville as #2 seeds in the tournament. The Wildcats have been to the Dance 34 times with 1 Final 4 and 1 National Title to their resume well Louisville is making trip #38 looking to add to their 8 Final 4 appearances and looking for their 3rd National Tiitle.

Texas A&M has secured their 2nd #2 seed in the past 2 years. The Aggies won the Big 12 regular season title but lost to K-State in the Big 12 Tournament finishing the year 29-5 Overall and 14-2 in Big 12 play.

Boise State -The Broncos are making their 4th straight trip to the Dance under Coach Scott after a very impressive 29-2 season. The Broncos have been to back to back Elite 8 appearances as a #2 seed the past 2 seasons. Is this the year they finally make it to the Final 4?

Here is a look at a couple team Bubble teams who are just happy to have a chance and a couple who are left wondering what could've been.

From the Big East both Marquette and Pitt finished the year with sub .500 records on conference play going 8-10 but both squads managed to finish with RPI's in the 30's and secured at-large bids. West Virginia however went 10-8 in Big East play but just 10-6 in non-conference play and their #47 RPI just wasn't enough to secure a #10th team in the Dance.


Minnesota finished the year just 9-9 in Big Ten play and 19-14 Overall but their RPI was #37 coming into today but the selection committee just didn't feel it was enough to warrant a invitation.

Rice went 12-4 in CUSA play finishing 2nd to Memphis but a early exit in the conference tournament will see them sitting at home watching #8 Houston and #12 UAB join #11 Memphis at the Dance.

Keep a eye on #3 George Washington. The Colonials finished the year as A-10 Champs and #7 in both the Top-25 Media Poll and the Coaches Poll with the #13 RPI in the nation. I think they could have what it takes to knock off a #1 seed.

#4 K-State is another team that I think could go far. The Wildcats enter the tournament at Big 12 tournament champs after beating both #2 Texas A&M and #5 Texas and are riding a 9 game winning streak. They will face a familiar opponent in Round 2 in Oklahoma and might have what it takes to beat the Irish.

#2 Boise State has been knocking on the door the past 2 years and I really feel like this is their year. The Broncos could very well face a team on their way to a Final 4 run that they have already beat this season. #6 Arizona and #3 BYU will most likely face each other in Round 2 and if the Broncos can get past their 2nd round game they will meet the winner in the Sweet 16.

BRONCOS CRUISE IN ROUND 1 WITH 88-70 VICTORY

Vermont was just happy to be there. The #15 ranked Catamounts won the America East bid defeating regular season champ Hartford for their 20th win of the season to secure their 4th trip to the Dance in school history, but with 2 players rated (58 and 55) their starting 5 was just no match for a Boise State program making it's 3rd straight trip to the Dance as a #2 seed.

the Broncos jumped out to a commanding (50-36) lead in the 1st half and Coach Scott used that lead to see that his 2nd unit saw plenty of floor action in the 2nd half with JR Vytas Robinson leading all scorers with 14 pts. Soph reserve guard R. Pekkola added 13 pts off the bench as well well the starting unit saw 4 out of the 5 finish in double digits.

Big man C. Toumou had 12 pts and 6 rebounds, well Senior D. Nagata added 12 pts and 6 assists. I Dilligard and V. Rasmussen each finished with 10 points.

BSU however will need to shoo the ball better in Round 2 as they went just 5/21 from deep.

BRONCOS SURVIVE UPSET!!!

Boise State's 2nd round opponent was non other then #10 7 time National Champion Kentucky.

The Wildcats had a tough year in SEC play going just 8-8 but managed to secure the automatic bid via winning the SEC Tournament with a (106-99) win over Tennessee. The Wildcats boast a veteran team with 5 Juniors and 3 Seniors all rated higher then 79, but what they lack is size with their tallest player coming in at 6'9 216 and not a single true center on their roster.

The Wildcats smaller lineup played well in the 1st half outscoring the Broncos (47-43) but what they did that was even more impressive was they got 6'10 All-American Cory Toumou in early foul trouble as he played just 9 minutes in the 1st half.


Things went from bad to worse for Toumou as he leaves he 2nd half early with back spasms and he would never return as he finishes he game with 0 points and just 2 rebounds.

BSU however would rally without their star as backup guard Ray Pekkola comes up big once again hitting a pair of late 3's that would give BSU the lead with 42 seconds to play and after a couple miss 3's by the Wildcats, Kentucky was forced to foul as Dilligard and Rasmussen each knock down a pair of free throws to secure the 5 point victory. FINAL SCORE BSU-87 KENTUCKY-82

V. Rasmussen would lead the Broncos and get POG honors as he finished with team highs in points (16) rebounds (7) and blocks (3).

Pekkola finished with 14 pts as did Vytas Robinson who was huge knocking down 10-12 FT's tonight in the absence of Toumou. I. Dilligard and D. Nagata each added 11 pts in the win.
