    Regular Season Transactions

Panthers send QB Dexter Dudley to Texans for 2012 5th, we just thought that Dexter deserved the opportunity to battle for a starting position, once we decided to go with rookie QB Tristan Riley. Former 1st round pick Tallon Tolliver is picked up to be QB3 behind Riley and Steven Dudley.

FS Rory Green lost his job to rookie SS Cashmere Lawrence and was traded to the Cardinals for a 2nd rounder in 2012

CB Richard Marshall fell to CB5 on the depth chart and demanded a trade...he was sent to the Giants for a 2nd and 6th in 2013

One Time MVP Carl Stewart was sent to the Ravens for 3rd and 7th in 2013, the Ravens would later cut him.

DB Ken Lucas sent to the Saints for a 7th in 2012 and 2nd in 2013. Lucas had lost his staring job first at CB then at FS and wanted out.

Panthers resign FB Dan Krieder to another 1yr extension, for $790k yr.

The Panthers used the Franchise Tag on WR Roy Williams, but weren't able to trade him, so they cut him and resigned him after no one picked him up. They were still unable to resign him all season...so it remains to be seen if Coach Joslin says enough is enough and lets the diva go.

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent WR Braxton Wooden (79/92) was given a 6yr deal worth $15.8M with a $5.5M bonus...possibly spelling the end to Williams time in Carolina.

TE Thurman McCormack added another year to his deal. He will make $500k

DE Eric Baker extended his deal for 1 more year for $500k

DE Tony Bake signed a 6yr deal worth $5.6M with a $2.5M bonus

DE Julius Peppers signed a deal that should mean he retires a Panther...5yr $28.6M with a $13M signing bonus

Undrafted Rookie Free Agent MLB Donta Douglas (81/88) gets a payday signing a 6yr deal worth $10.3M with a $3.5M bonus.

MLB Wesley Mays signs a 6yr deal worth $11.3M with a $5M bonus

Pro Bowl K Landon Rich signed a 3yr deal worth $5.7M with a $1M bonus

          Ravens 14

          Giants 9
          Panthers 27

          Conference Championships

          Colts 38
          Chiefs 0

          49ers 10
          Panthers 41
The 49ers can't get anything going until the 4th quarter when the backups are playing for Carolina. The key was stopping them on 3rd downs. Carolina only allowed 1 first down conversion on 7 attempts.

Colts and Panthers in the Super Bowl...a rematch of last year's super bowl teams.

            Super Bowl

            Colts vs Panthers

            Colts 3/3/0/13 = 19
            Panthers 3/10/21/7 = 41

QB Peyton Manning throws 4 picks in this one while trying to bring his team from behind. Carolina QB Tristan Riley takes advantage of these mistakes and puts the game out of reach in the 3rd quarter.

The Carolina Panthers and HC Joslin win their 2nd Super Bowl.

              A Change in Miami

Carolina HC Ken Joslin has decided to leave the team he won the last two Super Bowls with to join the 5-11 Dolphins. The Dolphins are reportedly paying HC Joslin $10M a year, making him the highest paid coach in the NFL.

HC Joslin had this to say "I think it was time for a change. I accomplished everything I wanted to in Carolina and it was time to move on. I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead."

Carolina owner Gary Richards made it sound like it was his decision to let HC Joslin go, saying "It's time for this organization to move in another direction." One has to ask, what direction would that be? as HC Joslin took the Panthers up.

              Around the League

Falcons hire former Bears and Dolphins HC Lovie Smith

former Panther QB Jake Delhomme becomes the QB Coach in Chicago

somehow HC General Sanders keeps his job despite going 0-16 this season and having an overall record of 2-30. Do the Jets enjoy being the laughing stock of the league? Does Sanders have some kind of incriminating photos of owner J.B. Booth?

Former Atlanta HC Mike Smith is considered to be the top candidate for the Carolina HC vacancy, although the Panthers have a solid OC and DC so they could promote from within.

Carolina goes with a surprise pick for HC with Mike Martz. Martz joins the team from SF where he was Gary Hammermill's OC.

Carolina retains everyone else...kind of wished they would of cut some guys free so I could have a shot at them next year...oh well.

Player-wise HC Martz cuts OLBs Clifford Avril and W. Mays, but keeps everyone else...smart man.

                    2012 Draft Roundup: Dolphins

1/8 got stuck with this pick and had to pick blind, DE Daryl Tucker 79/82 bust! To make matters worse he tears his PCL in training camp and goes on IR.

                    3/28 WR Torry Edwards 85/95

                    4/8 FS Brandon Grady 85/92

                    4/10 DB Adam Kessler 81/93

                    4/21 LE Michael Jones 79/86

                    4/26 DT Deveo Mays 83/87

I was simming to my next pick and the GM kept making trades to move me up. I tried to trade down when I could and if not just went with the sleepers from the draft preview. Not too bad, except for the 1st rounder.

Draft Day Trades (made by my GM to move up, me to move down)

                    Eagles trade 2012 3rd to Dolphins for 5th in 2012, 4th and 5th in 2013

Packers trade 2nd to Dolphins for P Luke Blair, 3rd, and 6th

Dolphins trade 2nd to Patriots for 4th, and 2nd and 6th in 2013

Dolphins trade 2nd to Buccaneeers for 2nd and 5th in 2013

                    Before the Draft:

MLB Johnnie Abbott to Ravens for 2013 5th round pick

LOLB Joey Porter to 49ers for 2013 1st rounder

Lots of teams are in Cap Hell, so there was an abundance of top notch FA's that no one would bid on, so I signed a bunch of aging stars to 1yr deals, while finding a few young studs as well.

                              Super Bowl

                              Dolphins vs. Buccaneers

                              Buccaneers 3/3/7/8 = 21
                              Dolphins 14/14/0/13 = 41

Miami QB DaQuan Scott looked unstoppable as he amassed 418yds and 4 TDs. Interceptions by CB Marcus Trufant and SS Adam Kessler helped make sure that the Buccaneers didn't get back into this one.

                                Around the League

Miami HC Joslin makes some changes in his coaching staff

GM Eric Archer is replaced by Tom Tedson, recently of the Houston Texans- already has small, mid, and major school scouting!

DBC Jon Hoke is replaced by Teryl Austin- bad choice on my part

LBC Hardy Nickerson replaces Keith Millard- could develop into a better LBC but will take time

Pat Morris is released and replaced by STC Chris Landri- bad choice on my part

                                In other news:

Joe Philbin, GB's former OC, replaces Ken Whisenhunt as the HC of the Arizona Cardinals

Whisenhunt is picked up by the Falcons who had just fired HC Lovie Smith

Gary Hammermill hires former NFL LB Ray Lewis to be his DC...Lewis has never coached in the NFL.

HC Lovie Smith heads back to the NFC North, this time to coach the Detroit Lions.

The Raiders have yet another HC. This time it is Russ Purnell.

The Jets stick with HC General Sanders is is 4-44 over 3 seasons. When asked for comment Jets owners J.B. Booth had this to say, "He's doing okay." 4-44 is okay? What world are you living in? By comparison SF Gary Hammermill who came in 1 year before HC Sanders has a record of 40-29, 3 winning seasons, and 2 playoff wins.
