            The Super Bowl

            Fitch vs. Riley

            Joslin vs. Martz

The Panthers have to be considered the better team coming into this one with 9 players with OVR at 90+ compared to Miami's respectable 6. Despite the differential in talent, many people feel HC Joslin will be the difference maker.

QB Kolby Fitch wastes no time getting the Dolphins on the boards with a 14yd strike to favorite target WR Torry Edwards

            MIA 7 CAR 0

An interception by CAR QB Tristan Riley leads to a 8yd TD pass from QB Fitch to WR Donnie Avery

            MIA 14 CAR 0

The Dolphins add another TD before the end of the half when QB Fitch finds WR Dexter Jackson for a 12yd TD.

MIA 21 CAR 0 at the half

CAR QB Tristan Riley moves the Panthers down the field but it ends in an interception. The Dolphins score on the ground iwth a 2yd run by HB Ronnie Brown.

            MIA 28 CAR 0

Another Tristan Riley interceptions sets up the Dolphins 5th TD (QB Fitch to WR D. Jackson)

MIA 35 CAR 0 at the end of the 3rd

Coach Joslin sends in the backups. Backup QB Tallon Tolliver throws a TD to WR Dexter Jackson

            MIA 42 CAR 0

Carolina finally gets some points when QB Tristan Riley finds WR Steve Smith for an 11yd TD.

            MIA 42 CAR 7

The Dolphins run out the clock with RB Ronnie Brown, who goes in for a 1yd TD. P Dontae Hudson misses the PAT.

            MIA 48 CAR 7

Miami Wins! Coach Joslin beats his old team and wins his 4th Super Bowl!

              Coaching News

QBC Hue Jackson leaves the Dolphins to take the same job with the Panthers. Jackson is replaced by former NFL QB Jeff Garcia.

Trainer Robert Wyman leaves Miami to join the Rams. Wyman is replaced by Tony Ford.

DBC Teryl Austin and STC Chris Landri are fired. They are replaced by Jason Barnes and Tom Rathman (Rathman coached with HC Joslin in Carolina)

Keith Armstrong becomes the new HC in Atlanta

Mike Martz leaves Carolina after the Super Bowl loss. Owner Gary Richards promotes OC Richard Williamson to be the new HC. Coach Williamson becomes the first coach from the Joslin Coaching Tree to get a HC job.

The Panthers promote QBC Dan Mifflin to be their OC

Bob Bratkowski becomes the new HC in Oakland...Oakland has had 7 head coaches in 7 years. Will Bratkowski be the one to stick?

The Chargers and Cardinals trade head coaches. Norv Turner becomes the HC in Arizona while Joe Philbin takes the job in SD. Why would anyone want Philbin? He led the Cardinals to a miserable 0-16 record.

General Sanders keeps his job in New York, despite posting another losing season (2-14). Sanders has never won more than 2 games as the Jets HC and has an overall record of 6-58 in 4 seasons with the Jets. When will enough be enough? Jets owner JB Booth once again said that he feels Sanders is "doing ok."

                Free Agency

The Dolphins bring in 3 FAs: HB Boar Jackson, OLB Chief Sanders and MLB Tavares Gooden. Jackson a star RB at Auburn should provide some stability at the HB position, while Sanders and Gooden strengthen what many felt was the weak point of the Dolphins defense.

                Draft Recap

Many experts feel this will be HC Joslin's last year in Miami, having already won two Super Bowls with the Dolphins. HC Joslin was definitely more proactive in this draft, making numerous trades to move up and down.

                1/16 DE Senario Moser
                1/21 MLB Brody Miller
                1/28 DT Aakari Moore
                1/32 LG Danny Brooks
                2/2 LT Alfred Eaton
                2/5 OLB Nick Joseph
                2/11 MLB Hunter Middleton
                3/15 LG Daniel Tracy
                3/22 HB Marshall Johnstone
                3/28 WR Aric Garfield
                4/21 QB BB Randle
                4/26 SS Cedric Walker
                4/28 FS Ben Warfield
                4/31 QB Bernard Otto
                5/21 CB Nayal Elliott
                6/30 RE Jamychal Carter
                6/32 DT Vernon Lane
                7/12 HB Dana Jones
                7/26 MLB Chase Jones
                7/31 LE Jaquan Neal

HC Joslin used all of his picks this season and next season to accumulate these picks. Many speculate that he did this to stop the wholescale destruction of the team he created when he leaves. It happened in Carolina, when the team cut many starters to make room for rookies drafted with the abundance of picks HC Joslin had accumulated. HC Joslin reasons that if they don't have any draft picks next season when he's gone, they won't cut starters...we will see.

How are you developing your coach so far? I know you get a lot less points when you sim the games. Are you concentrating on regular skills or special skills?

here is my HC so far:

                            HC Joslin, Commander, OVR 62

                            Play Call 5

                            (everything else 1)

                            Special Skills:
Ambition, Charisma, Off Season Seminar, Improved Tackling, Inproved QB Reads, Improved Break Tackle, Improved Block Shedding, Improved Press, Improved Release, Improved Forced Fumble, Regular Season Seminar, Blitz Discipline, Coverage Analysis, Improved Ball Carrier Moves, Game Film Analysis, Hard Hit Training, Interception Training, Leadership, Pass Blocking Discipline, Quarterback Readiness, Receiver Discipline, Run Blocking Discipline, Running Back Discipline, Speed Training, Strength Training

(I don't recall the exact order, but I pretty much went back and forth with offensive and defensive special skills)

My improvement philosophy with assistant coaches is to max out performance, then divide points between special skills and developmental skills, rarely spending on chemistry, playcall, and strategy...very rarely.

HC Joslin meets HC Gruden in the Super Bowl again. There is no love lost between these two head coaches. This will be good and ugly.

                                Super Bowl

                                Gruden vs. Joslin

                                Buccaneers 0/7/3/0 = 10
                                Dolphiins 6/21/7/14 = 48

HC Joslin had previously beaten the Buccaneers by relying on the ground game, and HC Gruden vowed to make sure that didn't happen again.

HC Gruden was true to his words and the Buccaneers weren't allowing anything on the ground. They held the Dolphins to only 71yds, with almost 50 of those being gained after Miami put the game out of reach.

With the ground game taken away the Dolphins relied on the strong arm of QB Kolby Fitch who threw for 465yds and 4 TDs.

Defensively the Dolphins dominated with OLB Chief Sanders getting 2 INTs, FS Brock Reed got another as did OLB H. Middleton. MLB Brody Miller sacked Bucs QB Matt Ryan 3 times. The defense held the Buccaneers to 0-9 on third down conversions pretty much sealing the deal right there.

The Dolphins win their 3rd Super Bowl, HC Joslin his 5th. Time for a new challenge?
