damn, so you got the #1 or #2 recruit at 9 diferent positions. that's crazy. Also, Michigan - Miami is a pretty sweet opening game for next year.

Stevie Wonder goes off in all-out shootout between Wolverines and Canes

ANN ARBOR, MI--Yet another heart stopper under Brian Kudron for the Wolverines.

The pass defense was porous, but the pass rush produced 9 sacks. Chad Henne struggled for the most part, mainly due to the offensive line giving him zero time. When all was said and done, Henne hooked up to Steve Breaston for the duo's 3rd TD with 33 seconds left, giving #3 Michigan a thrilling 34-31 victory over #11 Miami.

Henne was sacked SEVEN times, going 11-31 for 178 yards, 3 TDs and 2 interceptions. He was briefly knocked out in the 3rd quarter, and Matt Gutierrez threw another interception. Michael Hart was dominant on the ground, carrying 22 times for 195 yards (8.8 YPC). Breaston shined, catching five passes for 93 yards and 3 scores. Otherwise, UM WRs had a case of the drops, with Adrian Arrington dropping three, and heralded freshman Edward Ambrose dropping two.

Kyle Wright was 21-39 for Miami for 309 yards and four touchdowns through the air, and only one interception. Tyrone Moss was pulverized by UM's run D, netting only 26 yards. The nine sacks of Wright dragged Miami DEEP into negative yardage on the ground. Ryan Moore sparkled though, dominating Leon Hall for 7 receptions, 168 yards and 3 TDs.

The game also featured several defensive stars, starting with Michigan OLB Prescott Burgess. His Butkus Award campaign started amazingly as he had 11 tackles, 3 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. Pass rushing demon LaMarr Woodley had 5 tackles and 2 sacks, and in his first start, RS freshman CB Brandon Harrison had 6 tackles.

Willie Williams was in Michigan's backfield all day with 13 tackles and 3 sacks. Bryan Pata had 2 sacks, and FS Lovon Ponder had a pair of INTs, and budding star redshirt freshman SS Kenny Phillips had another.

Michigan's first MAC snack of the season comes next week at the Big House against Ball State.

Michigan's offense shows what it can do in record-shattering embarassment of Ball State

ANN ARBOR, MI--The Michigan Wolverines didn't PLAN on running it up on Ball State.

But when you break a big run...are you supposed to just stop?

That's exactly what happened as the Wolverines ran wild on Ball State, tallying up 763 yards of offense in an unbelievable 101-7 victory.

Chad Henne--in one half of action--was almost perfect, going 13-14 for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns. In the second half, Matt Gutierrez was nearly as good, going 9-12 for 177 yards and a TD. Mike Hart saw light first half action, gaining 82 yards and scoring a TD. Kevin Grady went NUTS in the 4th quarter, scoring 3 touchdowns, two of which more than 60 yards. He finished with 283 yards and four scores on only 18 carries.

Michigan's pass defense continued to be a problem, as Joey Lynch was 16-31 for 301 yards and a TD, with 3 interceptions. The run defense was once again inpenetrable, holding freshman Joel Wiley to 39 yards on 17 carries. Leon Hall was scorched once again, this time by Bryan Williamson, who caught 8 passes for 203 yards and a TD.

The Michigan defense also only saw one half of action. In that half, Prescott Burgess wracked up 8 tackles, 2 sacks and a forced fumble. Four Wolverines had four tackles. Junior OLB Rob Williams had Michigan's only other sack. Willis Barringer, Morgan Trent and Brandon Harrison each had an INT, with Harrison scoring on his on the 1st play of the game.

An equally ugly beatdown could be in store next week, with MAC bottom feeder Central Michigan coming into the Big House.

Michigan's defense refuses to bend in 24-6 drubbing of CMU

ANN ARBOR, MI--With a redshirt freshman and true freshman in their backfield, Central Michigan was bound to struggle in the Big House against #2 Michigan.

                    But nobody expected THIS.

Michigan's defense held the Chippewas to 24 total yards of offense, and UM's own offense was like a smooth oiled machine as the Wolverines were on cruise control all day in the 24-6 win.

Chad Henne was solid again, going 20-26 for 219 yards and a TD, with one interception. Mike Hart had 104 yards rushing and a TD on 19 carries, and caught 9 passes for 62 yards. Kevin Grady had 45 yards on 6 carries. Mario Manningham and Steve Breaston each caught four passes, Manningham for 99 yards and a TD, and Breaston for 42 yards.

RS-freshman QB Duane Brooks was 6-13 passing for an incredulous 16 yards. Brooks also led CMU in rushing...with 11 yards on 16 carries. Freshman RB Derrick Robinson had -3 yards.

Prescott Burgess had 5 tackles and a sack to lead UM's defense. Michigan had 8 sacks total; 3 from heralded freshman Andy Jones, 2 from Alan Branch, and one each from Tim Jamison and LaMarr Woodley.

For CMU, OLB Leython Williams had 9 tackles and a sack, and Leroy Pollard and Thomas Keith each had 8. DE Daniel Bazuin had an INT and a forced and recovered fumble, setting up all six of Central's points.

The cupcakes from the MAC portion of the schedule is over now, and Michigan heads down to South Bend next week to take on their nemesis, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Michigan has not won in South Bend since 1994.

for Florida to have a QB, RB, and WR in the top 4, they must be putting up some crazy offensive numbers.

Wolverines overcome turnovers to snag first win in South Bend since 1994

SOUTH BEND, IN--For once, the bounces went Michigan's way.

For once, the turnovers helped Michigan in South Bend.

For once, Notre Dame woke up the echoes...but the echoes hit the snooze.

The Wolverines' 10 point lead evaporated, and they found themselves down 24-17. But UM tied it late in the 3rd, and late in the fourth Chad Henne found Mr. Clutch Steve Breaston for a TD with 40 seconds left. Notre Dame drove into UM territory, but OLB Rob Williams forced a fumble and Jamar Adams dove on it, preserving a 31-24 Michigan victory.

Chad Henne was average, going 25-42 for 315 yards and 2 TDs, but 2 INTs as well. Kevin Grady had 115 yards rushing and a TD, and Mike Hart had 63 yards rushing and 57 yards receiving. Mario Manningham made the #1 jersey look good today, catching 10 passes for 186 monster yards. Freshman Edward Ambrose caught his first career TD.

Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn was mediocre, going 11-26 for 143 yards and an interception. Darius Walker had a solid game, carrying the ball 25 times for 129 yards and a TD. Sophomore WR Chris Vaughn had a 48 yard reception, and D.J. Hord had a 56 yarder.

Prescott Burgess led UM's defense once again with 7 tackles and a forced fumble. Alan Branch had 5 tackles, and Ryan Mundy also had five, along with an interception and a forced fumble. Chris Graham and Andy Jones each had a sack.

Joe Brockington had 11 tackles, a sack and 2 forced fumbles for the 0-3 Irish. Freddie Parish IV had 9 tackles, Ambrose Wooden had 7 tackles and a defensive TD, and freshman DE Nick Duckett had 5 tackles and 2 sacks.

The Wolverines enter Big Ten play next week, taking on Wisconsin at the Big House.
