12-02-06 : Army (4-3) @ The Citadel (2-4)

Black Knights Nip Bulldogs, 59-57

The Army Black Knights travel to South Carolina to take on another military academy, The Citadel Bulldogs. After dropping the first three games of the season, the Black Knights have regrouped and have strung up four in a row thanks to the hot shooting of Jarell Brown.

First Half
The teams trade baskets then Donny McLendon leads The Citadel on a 7-0 run, scoring all of the team's points. A jumper by McLendon puts the Bulldogs up by 7, 9-2, with 14:00 remaining. The teams trade two points as Brown hits a jumper and Steeter sinks two free throws. Brown sinks a 3-pointer and sparks Army on an 8-4 run then after the teams trade baskets, The Citadel leads by 5, 17-12, halfway through the first half. The teams trade baskets then Smith hits a 3-pointer. The Black Knights go on an 8-4 run, capped by two 3-pointers by Matt Bell, as the Bulldogs lead is now 4, 26-22, with 5:00 left. Bell continues to have a hot hand as he hits a jumper and another 3-pointer to continue the Army run. Howard puts in a layup to stop the run then Tyrell Thompson leads the Black Knights on a 7-2 run. McLendon nails a 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds to go and cuts the Army's lead to one at halftime.

Second Quarter
Kevin Hammack scores all of The Citadel's points as they open the second half on a 9-2 run to retake the lead. Bell stops the run with a layup to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 4, 42-38, with 15:00 remaining. The teams struggle as Hammack hits a 3-pointer then Bell sinks 3 of 4 free throws. After Valiulis puts in a short jumper, The Citadel now lead by 6, 47-41, midway through the second half. Jarell Brown hits two 3-pointers to start Army on a 10-0 run to take the lead. Valiulis sinks a 3-pointer to stop the run then Cleveland Richard drops a fallaway jumper to push the Black Knights' lead to 3, 53-50, with 5:00 left. The Citadel's Joseph Thompson hits a 3-pointer to tie the game and Hammack sinks a short jumper to give the Bulldogs the lead. Sewell puts in a short runner from the block and Grant Carter sinks 1 of 2 free throws to retake the lead. Streeter puts in a short runner with :53 to go to put The Citadel in the lead by one. Bell nails a 3-pointer with :25 to play to give Army a two point lead. With only five seconds on the clock, McLendon puts up a jumper that bounces off the rim and is rebounded by Sewell, who is immediately fouled. The inbounds pass goes to Jackson and the game is over.

12-06-06 : NJIT (4-5) @ Army (5-3)

Highlanders Stomp Black Knights, 60-42

The Army Black Knights, winners of their last five games, bring their streak back home to Christl Arena to take on the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders. PG Cory Sinning is back starting after missing the last two games due to a sore hamstring.

First Half
Both teams struggle as the teams trade baskets before NJIT's Magnus hits a 3-pointer to give them the lead. Brown sinks a 3-pointer to tie the game, 5-5, with 15:00 remaining. The Highlanders jump out on an 8-1 run before Army comes back with a short runner by Zastoupil and a layup by Bell to close the gap. After the teams trade baskets, NJIT is up by 3, 15-12, halfway through the first half. The teams continue to struggle shooting the ball as the Highlanders go on a 6-0 run to push their lead to 9, 21-12, with 5:00 left. The teams trade a couple of baskets before Sinning and Brown both put in layups to cut the Army deficit to 5 points. Barker hits a short jumper at the buzzer to give NJIT a 7 point lead at the half. Army's Brown leads all scorers with 7 points while both Barker and Milbourne Swan have 6 points to lead the Highlanders.

Second Half
The shooting struggles continue into the second half. Bates hits a short runner for Army and Magnus sinks a 3-pointer for NJIT. The Black Knights get a short hook shot from Sewell and a layup by Sinning to bring the NJIT lead down to 4, 30-26, with 15:00 remaining. The offensive struggle continues for Army as the Highlanders go on a 13-2 run, capped by a layup and a 3-pointer from Peters as NJIT increases their lead to 15, 43-28, midway into the second half. The teams start trading basket for basket and after Peters puts in a layup, the Highlanders boost their lead to 17, 53-36, with 5:00 left. The teams trade a few baskets in the last few minutes as NJIT coasts to an easy victory to snap the Black Knights' winning streak at five games.

Irish Hold Off Black Knights, 68-61

The Army Black Knights travel to the Joyce Center in South Bend, Indiana as they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the first of two consecutive games against teams from power conferences.

First Half
Bates puts in a runner to start Army on a 6-0 run before Russell Carter stops the run with a 3-pointer. A short runner by Sinning and a layup by Bell bring the Black Knights' lead to 7, 10-3, with 15:00 remaining. McAlarney sinks a turnaround jumper to start an 11-2 run by Notre Dame to take the lead. After a jumper by Zastoupil, the game is tied 14-14, halfway through the first half. Falls hits a 3-pointer and a layup in leading the Irish on a 7-2 run before Brown sinks a couple of jumpers to stop the run. After a fallaway jumper by Tory Jackson, Notre Dame is in front by 3, 23-20, with 5:00 left. The teams trade baskets then Brown hits a 3-pointer. Zeller tips in a rebound and Kurz puts in a layup then both Marshall Jackson and Sinning drop 3-pointers to put Army up by two with :12 to go. Harangody puts in a layup at the buzzer to tie the game at halftime.

Second Half
Brown nails a 3-pointer to start the half then Zeller puts in a layup. Bell hits a jumper and Zeller sinks a 3-pointer to tie the game. After a trade of baskets the game is tied 38-38 with just under 15:00 remaining. Notre Dame is led by Falls on a 6-3 run before Richard hits a jumper for Army. The teams trade a couple of baskets and after Zastoupil puts in a short hook shot, the Irish lead by one, 48-47, midway into the second half. Russell Carter leads Notre Dame on a 9-0 run before Bell stops it by hitting a 3-pointer. After Zeller puts in a layup after grabbing an offensive rebound, the Irish are now up by 9, 59-50, with 5:00 left. Russell Carter continues to have a hot hand and hits a 3-pointer then the Black Knights go on a 7-2 run. The teams trade a couple of baskets and Notre Dame holds off Army.
