George Washington starts the game on a 6-0 run as Klein, King and Hollis each put in layups then after Jacobson hits a 3pter, Hollis tips in a rebound. Zastoupil and Kouyate trade layups then after Hollis makes two free throws, Bey converts a 3-point play. Hollis drains two more free throws then after Jacobson banks in a jumper, Hollis drops in a layup to give the Colonials a six point lead, 16-10, with 15:00 remaining. Jacobson banks in a jumper then Proffitt hits a 3pter to start George Washington on a 7-0 run as both Hollis and Klein each slam home a dunk. Zastoupil makes two free throws and starts Army on a 7-0 run as they also get a 3-point play and two free throws by Jacobson then Hollis tips in a rebound. After Proffitt puts in a layup, Richard buries a 3pter and Zastoupil drops in a layup to cut the Colonials' lead to three 27-24, halfway through the first period. Hollis sinks a jumper and King puts in a layup then Klein tips in a rebound and Proffitt drops in a layup as George Washington is on an 8-0 run.
