Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates
- from the blog of Kevin Bottoms
At bat in RichmondMarch 31st, 2008 - Well the first month of the 2008 season has past. I've been playing pretty well here in Richmond this month. I started the season with a 4 for 5 game with 2 homeruns. It was pretty sweet. There was a lot of press about me being in AAA instead of in Atlanta, and I think that game fueled that fire a little more. But I totally understand why I'm here. Mark DeRosa has a lot more major league experience than I do and the guys in the front office thought he was a good guy to pick up. He still has a lot of fans in Atlanta, so I can see why they wanted to go that way. From what I've seen, he's been doing a pretty nice job there in Atlanta as well.
I was a bit concerned at the start of the season when I was in the lineup as a DH. I love fielding so much, the first week of the season I was a little bummed that I was only hitting, but at least I was hitting good. I had a homerun in my second game of the season as well. But over the past couple weeks I've been getting a lot of time at SS and some 3B. The last couple games of the season I even gave Pete some time off at second.
I'm feeling pretty comfortable at the plate this season. Having a season under your belt, especially one with MLB experience, really helps out. Last year I was pressing a lot of time, but this year I've been having good luck. My average is pretty high after the first month and I've already hit quite a few homeruns. I also think all the time I've spent in practice working on my baserunning skills is paying off. I've been batting 1st or 2nd in the lineup quite a bit so far this season, and I've gotten myself into scoring position with a few stolen bases.
I think if I keep going the way I started and if some opportunities open up in Atlanta, I should find myself back in The Show soon. All I can control is my performance here and that's what I'm keeping my focus on.
Video quality isn't that great, but here's a quick vid of a homerun from a couple games ago. I barely got it over the fence on this one. Earlier this season I did blast one 415 feet.
Here's my AAA stats so far this season:
AAA Richmond Braves Avg 2B 3B HR RBI K BB SB .375 4 0 6 18 8 0 6

Liking your dynasty bro. It's making me think strongly about removing a lot of junk from my memory cards and starting a second one as a position player to compliment my SP RttS.Sports are good.

Thanks! I really like this mode, there are things that could work a little better, but it's great fun. I like being able to play so many games so quick.

I'm glad you like the AJC articles and stuff, I've got a template set up for them now so it just take a second to make them.

Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates
This is good stuff man! I have MLB 2k7 and have never played THE SHOW but it is strange as earlier this year i was talking to my buddy about how cool it would be if you could create yourself and make it to the big leagues (played 2nd when i played) and i was shocked when i was reading about THE SHOW about how this IS in the game, just sucks that my PS2 died few years ago and i went and got an xbox and am now on a 360 so i can't get this game!! Maybe when the 360 dies (soon by all the problems with them i've heard of) it will be time to go back to sony and get a PS3.Comment

LOL, I forgot to mention earlier. Not only did Mark DeRosa take what I thought would be my starting 2B spot, he also took my jersey number, #9! Now I'm lucky number 13 :P

That bastard! Maybe you should do like the movie The Fan and let Robert DeNiro take care of business so you can get your number back.Comment
