Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates
LOL, I just got off the 15-day DL for apparently hitting myself in the back of the head when swinging at the plate. I swung and missed on strike three and then was pulled out of the game for a head concussion.

Here are my MLB Totals through the 2010 season. All stats went up except for average which was expected. 2011 is the final year of my contract, I might be looking for a big payday:

Baseball Tonight has reported rumors of a voting scandal in the NL MVP award. Apparently there were several votes cast for ATL 2B Kevin Bottoms by deceased sports journalists, enough to lift Bottoms past his competitors.Comment

Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates
- from the blog of Kevin Bottoms
Well, the 2011 season is underway. We are about 15 games into the season and we are still on a bit of a high from last year. But we're playing good. Early on, it's the Marlins and the Phillies putting up the most fight to take the top spot in the division away from us, but we're in the top spot now.
Not much has changed in our lineup as we defend our World Series Championship. Actually we did bring in a veteran to our pitching staff, 45 year old Tim Wakefield. The last time Tim played for someone other than Boston was 1993, so it was a bit of a surprised that he signed on. He's already been a asset to us, starting the year out 2-0. Tim Hudson is still pitching awesome as he has started the year 2-0 as well and has an ERA under 1.
The other major lineup change is our new 1B, left-hander Travis Ishikawa. Travis has been in the Giants minor league system for a while now, but now he will share 1B duties with Kevin Barker. Everything else is pretty much intact from last year and I think that gives us a good chance of repeating the title.
There's is one little thing being talked about on the talk radio shows and I've seen some AJC articles on it, which is that this is my contract year. It's pretty obvious that I've played above what my contract was written for 4 years ago, and all that will go into account when contract negotiations take place. I've met pretty much all the contract incentives, and yes I do expect a bit of a pay raise after the year, but all of that will take place after the year. I have every intention of staying with Atlanta. I have always wanted to be a Brave and I want to stay a Brave.
It will be interesting what the organization does at the end of the year though. With the no-trade rule in the MLB these days, we've stayed pretty stocked with 2B's on the team. I think myself, Mark DeRosa, and Martin Prado all have the ability to start in the league somewhere, so all of us on the same team isn't the greatest situation. Mark's contract is up at the end of the year as well, so there could be some changes depending on which way Atlanta goes at the end of the year. All we can do is just play our best, which is what we've all been doing.
As for my play so far this season, it's going pretty good. I'm batting in the .370's over the first 15 games or so. I have 4 homeruns, all solos which account for my 4 RBI. I also have swiped 6 bases already this season. My goals for the year is to continue and improve. I had some pretty major numbers last year but I would like to and think I think I can improve on them this year. Mainly I want to continue and score at least 100 runs this season and get 50 stolen bases. Batting lead-off, I think those two stats and a high batting average is the best thing I can do for my team.
Anyway, that's what the situation is early on this year in Atlanta. Hopefully we can bring another title to Atlanta this season!

Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates
Thanks! I really like being able to handle my own guy in RTTS and not have to worry about all that other stuff that goes along with a franchise. Winning the World Series had a different feeling to it as well when I only control that one person. When I play franchises, I kinda expect to win a World Series eventually because I think human players eventually always get better than the computer, but when you are on a team full of computer players, there's a different kind of excitement when you are in a playoff chase and in the playoff series.
