A-Rod is getting really close to breaking the all-time HR record. He's 39 years old now, but he should have it if he can hang in there a couple more years.

A-rod and you probably get your BALCO supplements delivered to the same place, and you all inject the steroids together!

By the way, I've been following. Pretty cool what you've done. It's interesting following a player as opposed to a team.

It's July 1st, 2013 and we are now just over the half way point in the season. 82 games have been played and here's an update on the record chases I'm in:

awesome writeups, and I hope you get at least 1 record. What's amazing (to me) is that the stats are pretty close. You're not gonna totally blow a record out of the water, and you might not get them if you cool off at all. Usually in games the stats end up off and you'd easily hit 80 HR's

Hahahah, my god do I love this. Anyone here watch Entourage?

            This draws some awesome comparisons.

Now, I have a quick question. What are your attribute ratings at this point in your career? I'd imagine they're pretty stacked.....

They are pretty stacked and I'm not even 30 yrs old yet. I'm interested in seeing if my stats start to decline in my later years.

Here are my attributes (I'm the top rated player in MLB):

Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates

Things are still moving along pretty nicely for me in the 2013 season. We just played the All-Star game a couple weeks ago. It was my 5th straight All-Star Team selection. Unfortunately, we lost 5-3, but I did hit a 3-run HR in the 4th to keep it close.

As for the record chases, we're 100 games into the season and I've slipped off the pace for the stolen base record a little. I hope to get back on that. I think the main reason that I've fallen behind there is because I've been feeling pretty strong lately and been hitting a lot out of the park. I have had two 2-HR games over the past week which has helped boost those HR numbers.

I'll keep you updated as the races continue, but right now we are 3 games back of the Mets in the NL East as we've only been playing .500 ball the past month and they never seem to lose. So right now, that is where the team's thoughts are.

Which training methods do you use the most? Like, did you use the batting cages or the batting coach and weight room? And how many training points did you normally use on each at a time?

My first 3 or 4 years in the league I always did just 100 points each time I leveled up. Now I usually do whatever I have when I go past 100 points. So after a game if my training points are around 130, I just use them all on an training method that needs leveling up. At the level I am now I never spend more than the minimum 100 points on contact, power, or speed (or bunting but that's just because I think it is a waste for my player). If I spend more than 100 it is on attributes that still have a lot of room for growth like baserunning. Actually where I am now ratings-wise, I don't put my 100 points on contact, power, or speed until it has been 2 or 3 weeks since my last upgrade of them. I hold out as long as I can on those because they are so maxed out now, but they will start decreasing after 4 weeks if you don't train them.

Now, when I first began the game I always put just 100 points at a time. I started with the batting cages for both left and righthanders, the power training method, and the sprints. I only applied training points to the fielding to make sure they wouldn't start decreasing. The only fielding skill I think needs much attention early on is your arm strength because that helps your team the most. But I would usually get two upgrades to contact, power, and speed in before I had to apply any points to fielding to keep it from decreasing. You'll notice that your speed increases pretty fast if you apply points to both power and sprints because both affect your speed rating. That is why I am such a speedster.

When you are riding the bench after first getting called up, there isn't much you can do to keep your ratings from decreasing, so that's why I only used 100 points at a time when I was just starting out. It helped keep the time down between getting points back up to a trainable level.

So I guess the basic strategy I used was concentrate on contact, power, and speed early in my career, 100 points at a time. But I would train the other areas right before or right after they start decreasing. Once my rating got to an A on my player card for contact, power, and speed, I started training the other areas more. I think it has worked out pretty well for my player.

Re: aukevin's MLB 2007 The Show Career mode updates

August 31st, 2013: Tonight we won 10-6 against the Mets to hopefully keep our playoff hopes alive, but tonight also served as a bit of a milestone for me. I swiped 3 bases in tonight's game, the last one was my 400th career stolen base. It was a nice moment.

As a team we are struggling a bit right now. We've about played ourselves out of the NL East pennant chase as we stand 8.5 games back of the Mets with just one month to go. We are however in the NL Wildcard chase, as we sit one game back from the Astros.

My single season record chases are still alive as I've gained ground in the stolen base chase. I hear a lot of my at-bats are televised these days as I'm only 5 HRs away from matching Bonds' 2001 record of 73 HR. We'll see what happens.

Homerun Record (held by Barry Bonds, 2001)

Thanks! The Mets have been very tough throughout my career. It's been us or them at the end just about every season. Of course we've got 2 WS rings and the Mets have zip The Mets are stacked this season, they still have Beltran, Wright, Reyes, and Green, but they have added Jermaine Dye, Matt Diaz (who's great in this game), and Johnny Estrada.

                          Thanks again!

There was still more to come in that game though as I finally hit the HR to tie Bonds' record of 73:
